If they would go with ASR (hub, 1.375x24) mount threads I think it would be better and sale more. These companies are going to have to get on board or be left behind. A removable mount that's ASR threaded is the future (and present). This allows people to experiment with other companies without fully investing in that companies muzzle devices or dedicating a can to a specific gun. Great review as always.
@Irish_K12
@Irish_K12 2 года назад
what other companies go with ASR ready mounts other than SC? as a left handed shooter, the blowback is annoying as hell even w/o a suppressor so i would like to find a good, reliable suppressor that is more leaning towards better limited blowback
@Kentucky.Tactical
@Kentucky.Tactical 2 года назад
@@Irish_K12 Dead Air Nomad and Primal are ASR threaded, Griffin Armament has ASR threaded cans, Ecco machine, diligent defense, Otter Creek, Resilient Suppressors, Rex Silentium, Yankee Hill machine, all have ASR threaded cans. The thread pattern is also called HUB, 1.375x24, Bravo pattern, probably something else I'm forgetting. As far as least blowback you'll need to do some research on that one.

HUB/Omega is always going to be inherently weaker structurally A monolithic machined piece will beat out two piece threaded if absolute durability is a concern (i.e full auto use, etc) which is why the KAC NT4 of all things won the USMC contract over sico or dead air, and why SF's RC2 won the SOCOM suppressor contest AGAIN in 2017 against sico, dead air, etc

All 556 cans are loud. It's inherent in the platform and cartridge pressure. What differs is the tone and gas back pressure to the shooter. 556 cans never impress, they just lessen the report enough to deal with shooting without ears in an emergency. AKA home defense. :)

I'm new to suppressors. Why is this information relevant?
@travisolexa3074
@travisolexa3074 2 года назад
@@AdoreYouInAshXI .30cal cans are fantastic "jack of all, master of none" cans. A .30cal can will shoot about anything you own, but when used for 5.56 they tend to be loud and flashy. For some this is no big deal because either you like the flexibility it offers or you just don't care. On the other hand a dedicated 5.56 can is, well, dedicated. Dedicated 5.56 cans bring to the table suppression levels a 30cal can can't. What Rugged basically did was take a 30cal can, label it dedicated 5.56, and then kept this info hidden from consumers. There is nothing wrong with choosing a 30cal can for 5.56, but companies are upfront about what you are getting. Rugged was not upfront and kept quiet until it was in user hands and no longer could hide this info.
@AdoreYouInAshXI
@AdoreYouInAshXI 2 года назад
@@travisolexa3074 Thanks for the information. I don't know how to feel about this. On one hand I'm a bit disappointed because I already purchased this, and signed my form 4 to be sent off for this suppressor. I agree that it's shady as hell. But on the other hand, this is my first suppressor and I'm just so excited that it's hard to be bummed out. It was relatively inexpensive so I suppose if I don't really like it I can always get something else down the road. Thanks again for the info. Oh, and since the baffles are the same... could this technically be used on a 30 cal with no issues (with the proper endcap, or would the 7.62 end cap even fit this suppressor), even though they advertise it as a dedicated 5.56 can?

Hate to be "that guy" but we just received our Razor 5.56. I have never been so disappointed in a 5.56 can over the 30 years we have been shooting them. This thing is hideously loud... I mean with a Recce5 or an AAC SR-5 you can at least take off your left ear pro if you're out in the open for 15-20 shots to listen, we couldn't do two shots with this. It also throws a flamethrower like effect out about five or more inches with each shot on a 16" barrel. Had zero desire to mount this on a 14.5 or 11.5 gun. We have a 30 year old AWC 5.56 take apart can that is made from stamped fender washers and cut tubing as spacers and it suppresses better than the Razor 5.56. I actually thought we had received a Razor 7.62 that was stamped Razor 5.56 by mistake. The end cap and bore are big enough to allow a 7.62 projectile to fall straight through. Talked to Rugged and after the tech guy conferred with someone else I was told that the can indeed used a 7.62 baffle stack and end cap but was somehow "optimized" for 5.56. I can only think this unit must be a well intentioned response to all the crybabies whining about gas in their faces because it doesn't do gas in the face, but at the total cost of reasonable suppression. Selling ours and getting a Recce5 for the customer. We all waited and wanted this to work sooo much. Still love our Surges and the Obsidian 45s and 9s.

@AdoreYouInAshXI

You’re not going to be firing anywhere near quick enough to mess the can up on semi auto. These are full auto rated, and they’ve been extensively tested in full auto. You can be 100% confident you won’t hurt the thing as a civilian. If you have a fully auto lower, you could just mag dump over and over and see how long it will go, but it has a lifetime warranty even if you did mess it up.

I think POI shifts are measured horizontally rather than vertically. The extra weight of the can on the barrel will definitely pull your groups down about 0.5-1.0 inches in my experience. But as you said, if you’re getting angled or horizontal shifts, that’s garbage.

Maybe I'm confused on the concept of "point of impact shift"...I always assumed it meant you could take the can off and put it back without seeing a shift. I don't know how a can could ever prevent a shift from occurring between unsuppressed and suppressed since I see velocity differences between the two through a chrono (usually 50 fps) and not to mention barrel harmonics. Is there a can that does show zero shift 100 or 200 yards out?

So far most of the Rugged 30cal line up has better at ear suppression, so I'm not sure what exactly the point of a dedicated 5.56 can is with worse suppression. They really need to show the at muzzle numbers so we can see how well it actually performs.
@lf2245
@lf2245 2 года назад
This has a full stellite baffle stack, and uses stainless to retain a belt-fed rating. Also this is a good middle ground between the short version and long version of the radiant. In summary, this is a good dedicated 5.56 can that you can beat the hell out, and don’t plan on needing a short length option to swap back and forth anyways (which also adds to the durability).

Probably the first time I’ve ever seen Rugged make a claim they can’t back up. However no one can make a can that doesn’t cause POI shift. Still, it’s not bad POI shift. I imagine their locking system really lends to that.
@calangel
@calangel 2 года назад
NFA review just did one for the GA Explorr and it didn't shift POI at all. Thunderbeast Arms also makes cans that are precision built and won't really shift POI. Same thing can be said about CGS and their Hyperion. POI shift has to do with suppressor weight, blast chamber design, and baffle geometry.

@@hunterford9018 Razor is 4 baffles. If you really NEED a beltfed rated can (for use on a beltfed), the Surge with 6 baffles (in short configuration) might be a quieter choice & is approx the same size as a razor. Other mfg cans with 7-8 baffles will probably be quieter.
