I've been watching the book reviews, and I really think they add value to the channel. One of my favourite photography books is Magnum Contact Sheets. Not only because it covers a vast range of photographers, but also because it gives a behind-the-scenes look into how certain famous photos came to be through contact sheets. I would love to see a review about it. Carry on with the fantastic work!
What a fantastic video Max! Great information about the book and the passion about black and white photography is very present. Thanks for sharing, pleasure to watch your videos as always.
What a well-made video about this beautiful book. It shows the incredible quality of the book, and it makes me eager to see these photos. This would be a nice video series. BTW: I stopped breathing for a moment when Greg said: „I will give away this book ...“ - but then he added „never“ :D
Tragic that only 400 will ever be made. I'm watching this again. I remember at the time telling a couple of German girls about the extraordinary way this photographer made such beautiful images from very rough industrial subjects. I'm very envious over this book.
Great job on this Greg and Max, The overhead shots really show the book accurately and the multicamera angles keep it interesting. Also the whole BW image of the video really complements this particular book. Those BW industrial images are strong, its harder to find places like that to shoot at least in my South Florida. It is evident you both have a love for the history of photography. carry on bros
Really like this format, I have some tips to maybe improve on it? I find the book interesting but also the man telling the story of the book to us. A close up of his face from the front would really help to get me into his story more. Curious to see where you can go with this :)
Berend Schmidt Thanks for your feedback. And yes, next time I’ll position the second camera in a way so that Greg is visible from the front instead of from the side. :)
I can see that Greg is quite particular about his collections, it would have been so nice to actually see more than a skimming of this book, I can't help but feel frustration for you having put your hard work into this video only to come away with a few seconds of footage of the actual pages themselves. Having said that I always appreciate your hard work and I wish you better luck in the future.
Unfortunately, this comment makes an assumption/interpretation which is simply not true. Greg is not particular about his collection. But I read between the lines that you would have preferred to see more footage of the book pages themselves. Is this correct? We can certainly do that in the future. :)
What an incredible book. Beautifully preserved too. Presumably, Ulrich only shot landscapes, but am wondering if he undertook any portrait work for this project? Continue to enjoy AI and it’s very generous of you to record the show in English. 👍 👍
