Rui Bori Fish Recipe | Traditional Rui Bori | Easy Rui Bori Recipe | Cooking Desii
Rui Bori is a traditional Bengali dish combining Rui fish (rohu) with bori (sun-dried lentil dumplings). Originating from Bengal, this dish showcases the region's culinary innovation by integrating protein-rich bori into fish curries. The fish is cooked in a spiced gravy, with bori adding texture and flavor. Rui Bori reflects Bengali cuisine's emphasis on fresh, local ingredients and its rich tradition of fish-based dishes, often enjoyed with steamed rice.
Ingredients:
• Rohu Fish - 350g
• Salt - To taste
• Turmeric Powder - ½ Tsp
• Vegetable Oil - 2 Tbsp
• Dried Lentil Dumpling - 7-8 Pcs
• Vegetable Oil - 2 Tbsp
• Potato - 150 g
• Salt - To taste
• Turmeric Powder - ½ Tsp
• Onion Paste - 1 Cup
• Turmeric Powder - 1 Tsp
• Red Chilli Powder - 2 Tsp
• Coriander Powder - 1 Tsp
• Cumin Powder - 1 Tsp
• Salt - To taste
• Coriander Leaves
Method:
- Marinate fish pieces with salt and turmeric powder in a bowl.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the bori until light brown, then set aside.
- Fry potato slices with salt and turmeric powder until golden brown, then set aside.
- Shallow fry the marinated fish until cooked, then set aside.
- In the same pan, add onion paste, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, salt, and a little water. Sauté for a few minutes.
- Once the gravy is halfway cooked, add fried potatoes and mix well.
- Add a little water, stir, and then add the fried bori. Cover and cook for a few minutes.
- Place the fried fish pieces on top, cover, and continue cooking.
- Garnish with Coriander Leaves, cover, and turn off the flame.
- Serve hot with rice and enjoy this authentic Bengali delicacy.
