this game and a lots of other LoL spin off have proven that riot is still capable of writing good story and making good game. They just love to watch ruin come to LoL.
Ye I was terribly disappointed with the ruination event but then comes fucking pentakill with an entire animated concert that was cool and they even have it cool lore. Now ruin king lore wise is super cool (gameplay was good too just not my type of game) but I had so much exploring it and hearing banter between the charactera.
There's a lot to enjoy with some of the best designs in video games. But I am not kidding with this warning: league of legends is the worst game that ever existed. It will make you hate life itself and all it's inhabitants.
there is a rich lore to explore, more than 150 champions, runeterra, all the regions you can make so much outside of league xd nice to see they doing these games
The game's soundtrack was composed by Gareth Coker, who made the score for Darksiders: Genesis and Ori and the Blind forest & Will of the Wisps. If you see that a game's ost was made by this man, you can be sure that the music will be S tier.
i'm been playing for 13h, 35% progress in the main story and not even a single drop of boredom by doing mainly side exploration and quests, such good value for the price
@@AkiraHisyamHobbiezz is like a town with lots of nps around divided by districts, some big chunks are entirely optional, sometimes without quest or map marks to lead us there and the reward is some rare loot or cool stories
The only thing I didn't liked about Battle Chasers, was the board like map the characters needed to travel. If they fully did it like the Ruined King. It would've been better
Playing it in Switch. Been absolutely loving it. Especially knowing nothing about league. But, am a huge battle chasers and Joe Mad fan. 12 hours into it already, no issues for me at all. Hopefully they add a new game + because i know i will be playing this over.
Just started on switch. However I cannot change who to target during battle. It either lets me heal or debuff myself and not target my teammate or attack one enemy but won't let me choose the enemy. Is this a glitch?
@@kingace34 it seems to be a glitch on the switch version... it seems to happen randomly but can be fixed by simply restarting the game. (Don't forget to save!) However after a while I haven't gotten the glitch for a long time.
Playing it on Switch, I don't know jack about league of Legends and I'm still liking the game a lot. I'm having a hard time juggling between this and the other excellent turn based rpg SMT V, probably going to finish SMT V first since I've been waiting years for it.
So far the only good review on this game as always. A good work as always pointing out flaws and what is good about the game. 50% playthrough and I enjoy the game so far. The characters are really good and at times carries the story.
I’m not sure if this happens to all platforms for this game, but the Nintendo Switch port is pretty buggy. I’m talking about minor graphics error, missing UI, duplicating items, random crashes, and even soft-locks. Kinda hope the devs can look into this. Other than that, I say the games is pretty fun. I enjoy the character interactions throughout the game as it demonstrates growth and provides insight into their backgrounds. The combat mechanic has some unique traits and reminds me of Marvel Avengers Alliance.
my biggest problem with airship syndicate's Battlechaser is how the battles are complete opposite of the fast pace animated intro: the pacing is excruciatingly slow, the characters are not as strong as they are portrayed, and the music is nearly non existent-- more than half the time I kind of almost fell asleep to the battle music. I hope Ruined King fixed all that.
I loved BattleChasers. So, I jumped on this and I'm very pleased, so far. It's different enough to hold its own and there's a lot to do and learn. Great review, by the way. Very informative.
The only two major issues I have with the game are the bugs and the lack of fast travel. Save often or you risk losing your progress to a game crash, at least on Nintendo Switch. I need more than one hand to count the number of times this game has crashed on me. The crashes usually follow up some sort of glitch that reminds me of Super Glitch from pokemon Red and Blue. The game will act weird at first. The strangest game crash was this one time I lost the ability to select my targets for a battle. After I won the battle the game gave up and crashed. Thankfully these glitches and game crashes don't delete or corrupt the save file, at least not that I've seen so far so just save often.
My son has this game on the Switch. A little buggy at times but overall, the game is solid. He also play League of Legends. I am not a fan of LoL at all. I played Battle Chasers on PS4 and the experience was exciting. Great artwork and turn base style fighting. Ruined King looks ok. I was really hoping for a Disc version. I’m still undecided if I’ll buy it. Really wanting Battle Chasers Nightwar 2 to be released .
Best review out for it that i've encountered so far... But from what i gather, it is basically like Battlechasers with a few different mechanics added/swapped in. That said, Battlechasers Nightwar is one of my favorite JRPGs on the switch, and having a League of Legends spinoff RPG game born from its DNA is definitely a game for me.
Riot is trying to take over right now ,came out with a awsome animated show, came out with this game that looks good and thier fighting game is looking promising for the future , and thier money maker league of legends is still making them rich.
What is really cool to me is that RNG isn’t so much absent as it is voluntary. You can opt in to crit based play, and choose not to use a character with a taunt for a very RNG based experience, but you don’t have to. The consistency within combat is controlled by the choices of whomever is playing which is really cool.
Does anyone know how this runs for the Nintendo Switch? I remember hearing how Battle Chasers’ (from the same devs) performance were terrible on the Switch and since this seems very similar I wonder if the low performance is also similar.
I saw someone on Reddit mentioning that as a whole it runs pretty well, but some load times are a little bit long. I don't know how that compares to other versions, but it seems like that was all they noticed after a few hours of play. 🤷🏻♂️
Runs really well, have played for 30hr on switch and no problems whole time apart from 2 random game crashes. Just annoying that when it crashed my last save was about 30 mins before so just be sure to save frequently just in case. Load time is fine and graphics are still just as neat 👍🏻
I've experienced more than 5 game crashes so far on the Switch. Maybe I'm unlucky, but I save every 5-10 minutes or after doing something tedious because it's happened enough already. My party is at level 14 and I'm around 34% complete so I know I'm not very far for crashing that often.
Wow. Know nothing about league, I play fighting games and rpgs mostly. The project L trailer that dropped hooked me. Looks amazing. Found my way here and damn I love battlechasers. I can deal with the cons. Buying it
I gotta say, a turn based RPG is not what I would have expected for a LoL single player game. I would have expected something like, I dunno, Diablo or Warcraft or something. A genre with similar gameplay and mechanics as the main game. You're already fighting minions and monsters, it's not that hard to imagine it being rejiggered into a dungeon crawler.
So hype for this just hope the world is bigger & the characters are more heavily differentiated than Chasers. Loved Chasers but heavy overlap of abilities between characters made the combos you could use for team building fairly redundant. Still Chasers was my fav. Title of the PS4 generation... So good this expands upon that in a significant way.
I just scooped this up today. As a player of both DSG and BC, I agree with you whole heartedly. It is a great story, great visuals, and the buff/debuff/lanes additions give it a much more satisfying combat system than BC has. I found that playing with my xbox controller (on PC) eliminates the overly clunky mouse/kb controls and is a much better experience. Cheers!
@Freddy Henderson Pretty sure I got the regular version. Didn’t realize there was an expensive version. That said, unless the expensive version includes a season pass or future expansion at a discount, it likely isn’t worth it. I have about 30 hours into the game so far and have had no need for any sort of “bonus items”, nor do I sit wish ing I had the soundtrack to jam in my car. Just my .02 that applies to all games and founders pack up-sells. Do what you feel is right for you.
Couldn't care less about the whole LoL universe, i just want to know how much of a better game it is compared to Battle Chasers ? I was having a blast, finished it like twice, but there was very little variety in enemies and stuff you could do. Is the game much bigger than BC ?
As far as I've played (about 40%) there has been a lot of variety on the enemies. I've been playing in Veteran difficulty and it's very fun. Much better than Battle Chaser imo, but this is as someone that loves the LOL characters as well, so I might be Bias.
Calling it a a reskin is very disrespectful to the devs. Battlechasers was great but this is obviously an improvement in pretty much all areas. Like the devs said themselves in the riot forge presentation, Ruined King is the culmination of their previous games and experience into one.
It really doesn't matter I think, they explain what they reference to in the game and the characters are great overall without needing previous knowledge. Sure it's cool to play the champs you know from league but I don't think it's a requirement at all
Copped this on Series X and digging it so far. Loved battle chasers so it was a must have when I heard about it. Wish this more action button mash tho.
I'm a pretty big veteran of LoL , honestly this game looks great and plays out great for an RPG turn-based.... However , it certainly lacks with Champions ( It makes sense why Miss Fortune is in Bilgewater as her story starts there , so is the dude Pyke i love playing him as a Jungler but where is Gangplank he's a Crucial character to the Bilgewater storyline ). Yasou is great and a Fun character overall , but where's Zed ? and some others like Master Yi , Ashe , Gangplank and several others. I know this game has nothing to do with Demacia but with Bilgewater there certainly has to be Gangplank , Fizz , Graves , Nautilus and Twisted Fate. those are all Bilgewater characters including Illaoi , Pyke & Missfortune... Yasou , Ahri and Braum are Not in the Bilgewater beginnings but in Ruined King they added them for Popularity. *Note* : Here's a rundown for all the 6 Champion characters in this Game : 1- Illaoi , Melee Support Tanky healer with moderate damage. 2- Braum , AoE Melee Tank mainly with certain Debuffs to enemies. 3- Missfortune , Ranged DPS with AoE and debuffs. 4- Ahri , Ranged Mage with AoE mainly DPS. 5- Yasou , Melee Crit champion possibly highest damage out-put character with AoE potential. 6- Pyke , Melee assassin with mostly True Damage % based on Health.... Great overall DPS. ( Those are all their Roles even in League of Legends , aside from few parts like Ganking and doing Jungle stuff for your Team.... In RPG those are simpler and straight-forward ). 💯
Zed and Yi don't leave Ionia (Zed even more since he's basically flashpoint batman... Yi just doesnt give a shit) Ashe is the Queen of freljord. Makes no sense leaving her kingdom Gangplank is hiding. In the present lore, gankplank is still presumed dead. Nautilus doesnt really move. He's basically the equivalent of the legendary kraken. Idk about fizz however. Graves and TF are mercenaries. Its possible they are currently on a job somewhere. Although, in the present time. Its peculiar that Graves is the only one who joined the sentinels... Perhaps they were ambushed? Graves and Pyke joins the sentinels after the events of this game.
@@Skishe Ohh that's right... But why is Ahri here , Yasou and Braum ? Specialy Braum since he's known to be a Freljord protector just like Ashe is 😅 Most certainly Graves and Twisted Fate are eligible for this game such as Missfortune.... And Gangplank would've been a great Villian in this series as Final Boss ( Sort of like how Hades is with the Hades game ). Nautilus is surely a Myth , but he's a well suited Tank rather than Braum , he's also known to be in the Shallow depths of Bilgewater and the Story of this game Ruined Kings ( Nautilus is literally a ruin king himself aswell dont you think ? ) 😅 Fizz is a perfect example here , he's a surfer much like Yasou is a good mercenary of sorts... He would've been a great addition also since this game never had a Melee Magic build like Fizz is , he's also fun to play in LoL.
@@omaralajmi1551 yasuo and ahri is explained in the Yasuo/Yone cinematic. Braun is actually just traveling or wandering runeterra. He's basically one of those dudes where he can pop out anywhere. Nautilus... Again is basically just a kraken. As long nobody messes with him, he doesnt give a shit. Last time someone annoyed him, he sank GP's fleet
@@Skishe My point was mainly in character variaty , including more Champions to choose from... They could've even added the likes of Aatrox , Aphelios , Alistar , Annie , Ashe , Blitzcrank , Bard , Azir , Chogath , Akali , Akshan pretty much there are 140 champions in the LoL universe... Why just tie a cool RPG turn based game for just 6 characters ? 😅 Nautilus can chill , i was mainly looking forward to seeing more character mainly Zed in the new game as RPG suits the LoL universe with their Heroes even not the typical 5v5 that we're used of.
Leveling up is what it is not fun and slow no new game plus sucks seeing as how it's the only way that your going to beat the game there should be one when completing the game.
There's a REALLY bad bug around halfway through the game that has a 50/50 chance of making you lose up to like 30 mins of progress, but once you get past it, it runs okay.
It's a nice little game. A bit cheap on the graphics but that seems to be riot's bent. I like playing and watching dialog for characters I've been involved with for so many years. I'd recommend playing this in story mode once just for the league lore they are introducing.
Huh? Cheap on the graphics? Not everything needs to be realistic my guy. A realistic game in a few years will look outdated, meanwhile a stylized game will still look good 20 years from now.
@@LearnedSome Doesn't matter, there's plenty of 2.5D games that cost less to be made and are way better in pretty much every aspect than your triple-A realistic game.
@@HPblu3 It's not "mine" and you can stop acting butt hurt for a game you didn't work on now. You don't have to like my opinion but it's just as valid as yours. Carry on. Live well friend.
