I've always dreamed of directing and shooting a movie (or a short film, at least), but never acted on it because I know how expensive the required equipment is, and how many skills you need to have which I really don't. I'm a person of arts so photography is one of my hobbies and who knows, I might actually shoot a short film someday! Thank you so much for all the valuable and interesting information!
So happy you found the video helpful! We would absolutely encourage you to continue pursuing it and go for it! Over time the process will only get more affordable. Best of luck!
just go for it! i made a short film myself (check it out if you like) with no knowledge and budget, just with my old canon m50 and a rough idea. i think it turned out well, at least i like it and i learned so much in the process. so, just go for it and dont over think it 🤙
its so satisfying when you come across a cinematographer or editor who actually understands this information compared to trying to explain it to someone (like a client) who doesn't understand why these shots or edits are framed the way they are.
When I first got into photography a very well known photographer gave me some of the best advice ever. He said, you know all these photography rules? Throw them out.😁 In all seriousness these rules are to help you for sure, but don't get stuck in them. Take images that inspire "you". Great vid. Happy picture taking!😎
Thank you for speaking clearly and not using annoying background music. The rules are very helpful too! Have been using most of them, but it's great to see someone explain them so well!
I really appreciate videos like these. Filmmaking has always been fascinating to me and when you realize how much is told just by what we are seeing makes it that much more magical.
Love this! Great explanation! I especially love the line about how a wide vs a medium shot can show how your character has more control over the situation.
I find myself coming back to this every once in a while to remind myself of these rules. Thanks again for the explanations. Very concise and straightforward.
This is so helpful! Thank you for sharing it. The more I learn the better my videos are getting, and although I’ve heard of all these before it’s always good to have a reminder. 😊🐕🐕🐾🐾
Mate thank you !! You made it so easy to someone whos totally blank like me. Clear explanation and you clearly showed the lines where it should be. I have watched few others which at the end made me more confused. Great job ! Keep it coming
as a digital artist and not someone who works in film in any way, this was actually really helpful. i was looking for a good solid rehash of rules of composition in scenes and this has a ton of great examples of the rules in action. especially love the encouragement at the end to not worry about breaking the rules.
Two things not relating to this video. You remind (not look, remind) me of the guy from Heavy Weights, the buddy system guy and your smile is so cute! It made me smile! Awesome video, a really simple and easy basic guide to refer to for friendly reminders. Love the final rule!
Thanks so much Ki Ren Red! We really appreciate it and we will make sure Jordan sees this comment. Thanks for taking the time, and we’re really glad you enjoyed the video!
Thanks for sharing and advising on this stuff. There are a lot us beginners still out there that feel lost when it comes to making some awe inspiring pictures or videos out of nothing. I feel I can finally come home with some great shots!
00:33 "In specific, it'll help your sausage taste a little more delicious as it goes into the mouth of your audience." Honestly dude, thank you so much for sharing. Great info and love the presentation.
Wow! What a helpful video! I do lots of photography (I’m not a pro. It’s just a hobby) and I’ll practice these rules in my next shots-both for photo and our vlogs. Thanks for sharing this!
Like seriously, this video is so good, why aren't there more view. p.s the thumbnails on this channel do not do the videos any sense of justice! They are so boring. I love the content but I don't even wanna click because the thumbnail is so ambiguous and nothing like the actual video. maybe that's a contributing factor :)
London In Style this video is a gem among filmmaking videos and it’s underrated for the reason you said. And probably the tags aren’t the best either cause a video like this should blow up atleast getting a couple thousand views
I know this is basic. But for someone like me that have zero knowledge about photography this really helps on everything that I will do. Thank you so much.
I've just started Photography and this helps an aweful lot. I have other course and they go over the rules - but in a text book kind of way, just to cover them, more or less. I like you give actual examples. In the end, all of this will take some time to get it right - but this is a great starting point for me - understanding the rules.
Hey, I came all the way over here from a link to a website just to say that this video was incredibly helpful and well produced. Thank you, and I love you
Despite the fact that I already know these rules, your work is just amazingly done, keep it up. By the way... you took these rules from Gustavo Mercado's "The Filmmaker's Eye"?
Thanks so much! That’s very kind of you to say. We actually are not familiar with Gustavo Mercado but are very interested now to check this out. Thanks!
You are a lifesaver, thank you so much! I've been struggling on shooting and editing an important school project and your advice really helped me out. Your instructions will stick to me in the other projects I will be creating in the near future.
@@MotionArrayTutorials Update on the project: The presentation was today, wahhh... I was so nervous, I barely got any sleep, my hands were shaking tremendously before and during the presentation of the film I worked on, I started getting pessimistic because of some minor errors here and there, but guess what? *We actually won!* we got the highest score amongst all the other short films, it was an unbelievable moment, the crowd getting carried away with how the actors acted, how they told that the edits and camera angles were incredible, and topping two of the most competitive editors i've practically looked up to to, I can't convey into words how much you really helped me with this project(even though i practically did haha) but still... thank you so so much. I just wanted to share this with y'all haha
Very informative and very detailed without complicated explanations. Best video about compositions because for me, compositions are more important than the device you are using.
Can i have more tutorials like this please. It's so rare for me understand a tutorial by only watching it once but this, this is awesome i replay it just because it soo good.
