thanks.. i think i learnt a thing or two from then on. the japanese count and chinese count systems are also different. i think chinese count rule allow us to do either way and it doesn't matter with the score but japanese rule (which more traditional i believe) too much capture effort would harm oneself's score.. and the score can be disputable. so for the time being, i just rely on the ai..

It wouldn't be an illegal one, just not a very bright move

if you're talking about the one on the left, that's an illegal move, but only because it doesn't actually capture anything (the equivalent black piece that could be captured on the right has 1 liberty, while the black piece on the left has two)

I'm far from being an expert in Go, however I always considered the Ko rule to mean you are never allowed to play a move that will return the board as a whole to the same state as it was in previously. So even with two going on, it will reach a point where if a move is played it would return it to a previous state and thus be illegal to make the move. Just in this situation instead of the second play returning the board to the same state, it will be the 4th play that will. So the 4th play will need to be played elsewhere thus stopping the Ko march.

Not really, if you have 2 kos (and it's the end of the game and they are the only 2 possible moves), black, for example. will play one of them, white cannot play that one right away due to the ko rule so its has to play the other, black then cannot play this other one for the same reason so it has to play the first one again, closing it, white then will close the other one too, and the game should end after that by the 2 players passing their turns.

If you have another liberty available then yes. But if you do that you'll essentially be giving up your territory.

Chris Cox right. So in the scenario I mentioned above, I wouldn’t have any liberties- I would be completely filling in my territory. I know it’s not ideal since I lose territory, but is it legal?
