Nitty is great at making one punchline two, like the Ill will nose running I’m coming down with something bar. Nose running would probably be most people’s punchline but rum adds an extra layer bringing in another concept or phrase that also has a double meaning as well as an interesting rhyme scheme.

Thing that amazes me the most is his consistency/how active he is, like he battled Jaz & Ace 1 week apart and came up with the craziest bars for them both.

Basically rum centers in on the details. In an ever passing world, it’s easy to keep up with pop culture & sports references. His writing is more based on a subjective common experience people may overlook & he writes bars that bring those tiny details & memories to resurface creatively, which adds to the shock value aside from it being fire as shit. It serves as an expansion point, giving the possibilities of bars more nuanced space. it also gives a more a comical effect next to geechi’s more grounded, present approach. Geechi does more of using realistic events and sensory to build perspective or give narrative or build a punch, But to dig into the roots of something that was and craft words from the scatter of could-bes to build to it that other people can understand is intuitive & creative asf.

nitty talking about “taking us there” painting the picture right to make the punch land, that exact thing is why he’s so good, he’ll make references that i know i don’t get (didn’t see the movie for example), but i understand all of the wordplay and connections he rapped so the punch was still insane. he really is the goat

I know exactly what he's saying about punching different. Like his punchline will have nothing to do with the set up, so the double entendre hits extra hard. For example, "i will skin shyne/ like Keisha off Belly". He's talking about cutting K shyne with the knife, but the punch refers to Keisha first appearance in the movie Belly with the oiled up chocolate skin. He connects shit in a crazy way and makes double entendres. Masterful...

This is like asking Usain Bolt how does he go so fast. “I put one leg in front of the other, I just do it really fast”. With artists like this it’s a gift. He might work hard on perfecting his craft but the actual creative process is not something he can fully articulate because even he doesn’t understand it.
