This video popped up on my feed perfect timing, been following you for a year or so now recently started up on my own alongside full time employment while I get a handle on it. Off to quote three jobs today and I'm watching this while I tidy up my beard that was looking scruffy. Dont have uniform as of yet but you wouldnt catch me working in jeans and trainers. Black cargo work trousers and a pair of boots and a clean softshelf jacket for quoting in and swap the jacket for a fleece or body warmer for working in.

I hate seeing jeans and trainers, get some trousers and boots on👍 I do however turn up to see jobs 90% of the time in dirty work clothes and excuse my look.... everyone says they'd prefer someone turning up that actually works than someone looking tidy who may not be doing what they say or busy enough to be in clean cloths. Lynx Africa is a quick morning shower in my opinion 🤣

I never wore a uniform as such, but I believe I looked the part. I also had a nice, clean van.

Just wearing proper work wear,knee pad trousers, tool pockets, boots, hoodies,tops t-shirts you know the type of work wear most work men wear.proper hard wearing gear. If you are busy working, you can expect to get dirty. Turning up with a bit of mud on your self. Looking the part 😅 . Obviously don't be wearing jeans or joggers and trainers and any old Logo T Shirt. I've got a lot of green stuff, it kinda says Gardener. Also Good references offered from other clients does the trick, it kinda proves your'e for real. Good one 😊👍

Yes you are deffinatly right. I find the winter work is hard on clothes so try to get new stuff every march .

Good nugget Rob. I’ve had uniform from day 1 and it does make a difference. Our local suppliers do deals with 5 polos, 2 sweatshirts and a jacket all embroidered for under £90. All tax deductible 😂

Great video Rob,love yr tips and nuggets as you say.i should know better rob will be honest with you have been doing this work 20 plus years have top of the range truck tipper trailer all my tools got everything I need to do the job but the most important thing my clothes I never invested in a proper uniform so I will take yr advice and sort that going forward.i don't look scruffy but could look alot more professional. Fortunately I always get the work but no room for complacency, thanks Rob regards tom.

If the neighbours have a peek out the window it's going to make an impression whether they give you a call to mow their lawn. Bonus with not having to travel as far then to mow two lawns.

One has to watch out for those who try too hard to impress. Those that wear all the Stihl regalia, but may not be as professional as they look. They will often leaflet drop wearing their Stihl/Husqvarna chainsaw helmets. Beware if the leaflets these individuals post have blurbs such as “25% off this week” or “14 day cooling off period” printed on them. Do I need to mention “We are working in your area”?

Hi Rob, I'm new to gardening, So your regular lawn service is only charged for cutting lawn and edging, hedges etc on top? how does that work? day rate or hourly? many thanks

Charge for the lawn, a separate price for the hedge depending on its size is reflected in the price.

It is true as I see people that look a million dollars but thing is when it comes to doing job there shite! But they get jobs! I personally wear jeans as you get some other trousers that don’t rip in no time!

Great advice rob, mind you I couldn’t afford a shower every day. once a week on a Sunday I get the left over water after every ones been in, sometimes it’s still a bit warm so it’s not that bad.🛁
