I remember getting the album "a very special Christmas" when it came out and me and my brother would get so hype when this song came on. We were little skinny white kids(me 7, him 11) jumping around. And we would have to wait for it, cuz of course it was a tape and my parents didn't want us "wearing out the buttons" by rewinding too much lol

Still really the only Christmas rap song and that's probably because it's a high bar. They really tight rope walk the line of a light-hearted family-friendly song and an absolute banger. They manage to do something a little silly but not verge on parody. It's an actual Xmas classic that deserves more recognition IMO.

Back then, at this time of year, all you could hear on the radio, over and over, was garbage like The Little Drummer Boy or "Gramma Got Run Over by a Reindeer." Spectre Jordan it's 2017 and me and my dad remembered run dmc so, as me knowing this when I was 9/ 3, years ago. I put this on because I knew this song so we'll, so when it was Christmas, I didn't put it on, till I went to my dad's house.I agree on it being Christmas music :)

Was a big fan of RUN DMC back in the day. Even got to see them at UMASS in 1987 when this video was making the rounds of MTV. The funny thing is, I never saw it. Back then you had to live in certain places to get cable tv and have access to MTV. I wasn't so lucky. Watching it now for the first time and seeing the elf pushing buttons on a repurposed Simon memory game and Santa driving a sleigh with a Cadillac emblem. It certainly captured a slice of those times.
