Welcome back to Foundations RU-vid Channel. Today we’re going to show you a progression from videos that we’ve done in the past for our Ankle Wall Lean Drill or our Forward Lean Drill with Hip Flexion that you can see on previous videos. This is basically the same thing for runners, working on improving your form with more of an emphasis on your core. The previous videos were more of a focus on your hip and ankle. What you’re going to do is something called a mountain climber, now you’ve seen people do mountain climbers all the time this is a variation of that and what we’re using is some furniture sliders so if you’re at home you can get on hardwood, tile, slick surfaces with your socks or a towel underneath your shoes. If you’re on carpet you can use a paper plate or you can just pick up some of these very fancy furniture movers at your local big box store. So what you’re going to do is basically assume a push up position. Once you’re in this position what you want to do is keep your hips as stable as possible as you move these legs forward. The knee should be going towards the same side shoulder without hitting your elbows. You’re going to do this, as you get better then you start to increase the pace that you’re going at. Faster pace for speed work and you can also go longer to build endurance. The big thing is to keep the back as still as possible. If you’re seeing a lot of this in your spine, not doing it right. Big thing is to stabilize your core make sure the spine stays stable and those hips start churning underneath your core.
