I love how the moment you start watching it you suddenly just have that looney tune vibes and somehow a bit of that unsettling feeling from how the characters act. Also hat literally just scored a lifetime supply of rabbit.
i love the unspoken story of the farmer shooting the wolf, letting the rabbit population skyrocket without any predators, and then the horde of rabbits overwhelming the farmer. it’s a very fun twist!
@@superplaylists1616 frenchmen will go up in arms any time their government does anything they mildly disagree with. meanwhile, americans and englishmen will just nod their heads and go along with it every time their governments start pissing directly into their faces. really makes you wonder how valid that stereotype about frenchmen and surrendering is
There's something creepy about the polygonal art style, and I absolutely love it. Plus the fact that the farmers animation still seems to remain whimsy and like something you would see on Saturday morning cartoons, its just overall a really nice blend of the two.
usually when trying to make something unsettling/evil, artists use sharp edges, cause that makes the human mind feel cautious and think, "maybe i shouldn't touch this" my art style is mostly curved and is trying to give off, "hey, im friendly!" to the viewer sorry if im not good at explaining, but i think i got the point down
I'm a violinist and 1:46 is probably one of the best violin animations I've seen on RU-vid. Bowings are accurate, fingerings make sense, and even the string crossings are correct. Also I really like how you made the characters look like they were having fun playing!
@@flohwalzer It's a term that musicians use regarding the placement of their fingers on an instrument, although it might also encompass movement as in the case with trills. On the flute, the note, "B" is left index, thumb, and right pinky, while "Bb" is left index, thumb, right index, and right pinky. Different fingerings. I don't have any violin examples since I don't play the violin, however.
@@lowlowlowlow1453 the song was written for an unrelated show, just before the war broke out in 1939. flanagan and allen did change the lyrics in WWII to make fun of nazi germany though.
I love this! It feels oddly nostalgic yet modern at the same time. Like I'm watching one of those Looney Toon Cartoons I used to watch as a kid yet not. And there's something unsettling about the animals design and the setting that I adore. Like its trying to hide some darkness thats lurking just below the surface.
according to a comment on a different video I watched this song was used as a warning to tell kids to find shelter from air strikes during war times...
A thing I noticed was that at the end, the specific rabbit from the beginning is leading the charge and is also the one to bite Hat on the arm. You can tell because of that characteristic notch in its ear. Also 2:18. Phew, I've shot four rabbits out of the entire horde, I should be safe now. *Wait a sec- THAT LOGIC DOESN'T WORK*
@@Themlyanin I don't think you're seeing it. The rabbit in the beginning before the horde has a big triangular cut in his left ear that none of the others have. It should be noticeable, but try comparing 1:22 with 2:09 or 2:50.
I’m both a violinist and an animator, and I’ve got to say that is the best violin animation i have ever seen. The parts where the bow gains friction and slows, and where it speeds up again matches up with the timbre of the audio. Brilliant video.
yea most of the time animations with musicial things are incorrect, like take "The Cuphead show!" for ex, when cuphead was playing the piano [i forget which episode] he plays a song, but it was incorrect. either animators need to learn how to animate pianos, violins, etc etc or they can just stop. good to know some know how to animate musical interuments. heres a vid which explains what i mean:ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NRaIKHFq3gw.html
The fact that this was in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children makes this song so much better, if that’s even possible. The music, animation and the whole rabbit theme is just amazing❤
0:28 how does one manage to slice through the pie so cleanly, everything is literally everywhere when i do it, i've seen other people and they're capable when i am not 😭😭😭
Superior fire power versus superior numbers? Well, you know what they say, the numbers don't lie! I've always been kind of under the impression that rabbits don't much care for being eaten anyway. 😆 The overall vibe taking place here is just superb! You've mixed the vintage "Merry Melodies" theme with macabre humor and 2 strip technicolor! IT'S BRILLIANT!!! 😎💜
Also this is probably one of the only animations to not treat the song like it's someone running from an eldertich horror and just takes it for what it is
I love this animation, it reminded me a lot of my late pet rabbit koyoi and how the bastard was smarter than he looked, he knew when i went to sleep so that he could try to munch on my hair or cardboard, i still remember him kicking the air whenever i would wake up and stop him, i miss him. Rabbits would 100% do something like this if theyre as expressive (and somewhat violent) as Koyoi was
Rabbits are something else… I knew a rabbit named Nugget who lived in the garden of some friends. The little b*stard knew when we were looking for him and recognize his name. His game was to try to surprise people who were searching for him by sneaking behind them. He was also trying to mate with the family cat who was also a male… 😅
Ah, I've seen other animators make animatics to this song, but this one takes the cake... or the pie It's great how it seems like a nursery rhyme, y'know? On the surface, it sounds like a harmless song about a rabbit, a gun, a farmer, and a pie. But it still has that slightly unsettling feeling and meaning like other nursery rhymes have. Like Ring Around The Rosie and Three Blind Mice
As someone who learned a version of this song for V-Day in year 2 (age 6-7) this makes me very happy. Been singing this with my mam for over a decade, and having such a dope animation with such an amazing sense of style and motion behind it to accompany such a nice childhood staple of mine is just the best.
well yes and no. the song was written by noel gay and ralph butler for "the little dog laughed", but flanagan and allen (who sang it) changed the chorus to "run, adolph, run" during WWII.
Bro. Bro bro bro it was so beautiful. You matched the style to this song perfectly. And the story was unsettling too. Animation really smooth I love the colors changing. That was- like a masterpiece. I hope many people see and appreciate this animation.
heres some lyrics if you needed, kinda wondering if this'll make it to subtitles. 0:07 [Music] On the farm, every Friday. On the farm, it's rabbit pie day! So, every Friday that ever come's along. I get up early.. and Sing this little song. Run rabbit, Run rabbit. Run Run, Run. Run rabbit, Run rabbit. Run Run, Run. Bang! bang! Bang! bang! Goes the farmer's gun. Run rabbit, Run rabbit. Run Run, Run. 𝘙𝘶𝘯. Run rabbit, Run rabbit. Run Run, Run. Don't give the farmer, His fun fun, fun. He'll get by, without his rabbit pie. so Run rabbit, Run rabbit. Run Run, Run. [Music] Run rabbit, Run rabbit. Run Run, Run. Run rabbit, Run rabbit. Run Run, Run. Bang! bang! Bang! bang! Goes the farmer's gun. Run rabbit, Run rabbit. Run Run, Run. 𝘙𝘶𝘯. Run rabbit, Run rabbit. Run Run, Run. Don't give the farmer, His fun fun, 𝘧𝘶𝘯. He'll get by, without his rabbit pie. so Run rabbit, Run rabbit. Run Run, Run.
God I love your animations lol. You’re a fucking amazing artist and dawg i swear every time i see you post of these I immediately wanna animate as well 😭
Holy shit I just discovered your channel and boy oh boy- never have I ever clicked subscribe any faster. I seriously can’t believe just how underrated you are! I absolutely love your artstyle!! Each second is so mesmerizing to look at. AND THE ANIMATION- top tier. Keep up the great work Hat!!
I love how angular everything is! It makes everything so expressive while keeping the cuteness of the animals. The way that you drew rhe eyes on the animals also keeps the sort of 'blank' expression that animals have.
This is quite possibly one of the coolest animations I’ve seen on youtube, I’m absolutely obsessed with it (especially the pig playing violin, I love the way it moves)
Oml this is amazing. I love how sharp your art style is, and the way you draw animals. The animation is also extremely impressive, very smooth and accurate motions for the specific animal, or what action they’re doing, (ex. Pig playing violin.) Also props for the partly 3D animation at the end. :))
Instant sub before the intro had even finished playing. Your style is so expressive and eye-catching! I know some people think that the red/white/black color palette is overused, but I think this is a perfect example of just how powerfully it can enhance a piece!! Really awesome animation :D
YOOO I FUCKIN LOVE IT BRO!! fr, great job on your editing n art. You transitions between scenes are really good but I really like how it all flows well. And I like how you also use colors. As with the minimal amount (still enough to still tell what's going on of course) but doing that gives the ability to make the viewer feel something. Example being the heavy black and red when hat originally tried to kill the rabbit. Idk, love seeing your art evolve. And you are one hell of an inspiration.
omg this is so good! the style, the hinting that the farmer has been killed without showing the body, the clean art, the use of color-everything is so cool & well-done! love it! 👏💗
the visual design on this is impeccable, so is the animation, song choice, story and just everything,, this is honestly a masterpiece, thank you for sharing you should be very proud!!
