I think a lot of people view this as a song about being cheated on. And it probably is. But to me it's about thinking about how the one you loved has moved on and is with someone new. "It's all in my head." Maybe nothing even happened. But the fear and anxiety of not knowing will hurt forever.
Music is always up for interpretation, and that’s a good idea. In reality it was written about falling in love with a hooker, and how he can’t stop imagining her with other men, because even though he doesn’t see it directly, he knows.
It's actually about a guy obsessed with a girl who is with another man. He imagines what's going in behind closed doors. But in reality, he basically buts on a brave face instead of being jealous because he is mr brightside.

If it wasn't a cover of Mr. Brightside, I'd like it more but I can't listen to it thinking of it as a cover of Mr. Brightside. On its own it's really good, though.
That's just perfect. I've been listening to the 'original' for years and wish I would have found this one earlier. It's its own original..and great. Thank you very much.
Stormsta I was going to suggest the same. kind of an indie folk feel. kind of why I continue to listen to it. but the original is amazing. I favor the slower indie folk feel.

Meh, normally when people sing covers of a song they don't miss out half the words. You said "Did it end up like this?" when it's supposed to be 'How did it end up like this?' which is a completely different question.
Agreed, it’s pretty bad actually. I wouldn’t even call this a cover, it’s literally entirely different aside from the lyrics. This came up on my Spotify and I just had to see other people’s opinions but it seems I’m in the minority lol
