The Raccoons was such a big part of my childhood, it was one of my favorite shows. This song was so amazing back then every time I heard it in the credits, and it still is now.
This song is the stuff of Legend. Is there ANY canadian kid who grew up in the 80's or 90's that doesn't instantly recognize this song? Huge props to HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN for pulling this gem out.
Filmed on Balmuto Street and Bloor Street East in down town Toronto. I seem to recall the whole of Bloor East between Yonge Street and Bay Street was closed off so that they could film the video.
this is an example of how true music is created, from the heart and with talant, not what we are getting these days, and as a bonus to this all inspiring and enchanting song was the raccoons, was my childhood cartoon and this song still gives me chills of how it made me loving the series from when i first saw it, trully one of my all time favorites.... long live our childhood!!
Lisa has an amazing voice, and this is a great song !.it's a shame she hasn't become more well known. I have loved " The Raccoons " since i was little.I'm 24 now,i'll be 25 in May : )
R.I.P. Uptown theatre (in the background), so many memories, like seeing Star Trek First Contact with the best theater audience one could ask for, everyone hooting and cheering when the Enterprise E first appeared. Sry if what I said sounds unrelated, just an 80s child (born 1982 woo!!) who misses his favourite movie hangout. Song is awesome too, I remember seeing the music video many many years ago in the 80s and if it weren't for the internet I would probably never see it again. :)
I never knew there was an official music video to this... I can't fave this enough. It just makes up everything good about my childhood. I'll forever be grateful to Canada for making both this song and the cartoon it was created for.
I've been listening to this since the 80's When I was watching ' A Hobo with a shotgun ' I thought it couldn't get any better. Imagine my delight when this turned out to be the theme tune!
Up there with Ducktales and Wind in the Willows as one of the top cartoon themes. this song gave the show an edge and help accent it's deeper tones. love you forever lisa!
Lucky for us here in the UK the Raccoons were on BBC one, so no commercials and it was on Saturday morning 8.35-9.00am. The first of the Racoonns special premiered on Christmas Day in 1983 in the UK on BBC one :-D Great memories :-)
I miss my childhood, the style, music, cartoons, fashion and all the innocence from the 90s. I wish I could go back in time and relive all of it just one more time.
This song and it's message are timeless. Sure the 80's are gone and to be honest I think we're more worse for it than better. The hair is undoubtedly better now, but hmm, I feel that we've lost a lot of that "cool attitude" combined with great imagination and a sense of hope for the future that were all so dominant in the 80's.
I never cared much for the show-I'm not into animation, but I used to watch it just for this one song. I really love the song, and the hope it holds out for people who are lonely, or "different". and I'm both. so I take a lot of comfort from the lyrics of this song. thanks for singing it, Lisa, and thanks for posting it, eightiesdood. (love the name. I'm a child of the 80s myself)
todays kids dont know what they are missing, i sees what my cousins watchs now and its not as good, so i goes online and shows them what we used to watch. Long Live the 80s... Better Cartoons Better Music
Had I known about this video as the little 80s child I was, I'd have learned EVERY step to that dance! (Of course, who's to say I can't still try..? XD) This is amazing!! Thank you sooo much for posting! Definitely one of the greatest themes from one of the greatest cartoons ever!
I love this fricken song!! No one can say anything bad about this song, its brilliant, its great. The lyrics have substance and the Racoon movies were apart of my childhood. Another good from the 80s!
The 80's. Best. Decade. Ever. And this song brings back some great memories of watching The Raccoons after school. Thanks for posting this vid - its precious to an awful lot of people. :-)
if you are sinking in quick sand and it´s driving you down and you feel you're going under we' ll be round ... THANK YOU LISA as if you read my thoughts. when i was a kid i saw all the racoon cartoons, so great...
One of the manifold reasons why The Raccoons is the best cartoon of all time. My sister and I jammed out to this when were were 6 and now we're in our mid 30's and it still rocks!
Wow. I never knew there was a music video for the song. I remember enjoying this song at the end of every episode of "The Raccoons." What a find! Gawd, I love RU-vid!
The Racoons: A cartoon about talking racoons, their friends and their lives therein Hobo with a Shotgun: A wonderfully sadistic love letter to exploitation films .....and this song was in both. Funny old world isn't it? :D
Here's a fun game: Before watching this video, try and imagine what a music video to Run With Us would be like. Then press play, and compare the real video to the one you imagined. It's uncanny. There isn't a single frame that deviates in the slightest detail from what you were imagining. Try it!
Man I love this song! 2 years ago, I was watching an old re-run of The Racoons and heard the ending theme. I am 15 and I watched the Racoons for the first time when I was 13. Too bad the channel was replaced by some crappy advertisement channel D;
They do NOT make cartoons and music like this anymore. These were the songs and cartoons that made my childhood. OMG! Thank you for putting up this video. I wasn't even aware they had a music video until now. :O
Everytime I watch this music video, I think of this 1 girl who I know who ran away from whom. She's doing fine right now, but this music video reminds me of her sad story.
