They're lucky the dad flipped out cause the odds of them taking g custody before that was slim to none. Especially with no proof and the mom jumping ship years before.

This was an EXCELLENT movie!!! Great actors!!! I had to watch this twice. This was really deep!!!! Whew!!!! Domestic abuse really sucks. I liked how John loved & cared for his little sister in his mother's absence. Three years is a long time to raise a child when u're trying to figure life out urself. The mother probably went through temporary insanity from all the abuse, so she just left. I also loved how John used the headphones to distract Jess from the arguing. Even though he was hurting inside he remained level headed for his little sister. I also liked the way the mother took ownership for her actions & begged for forgiveness & wanted to be back in her childrens' lives. I just wish she had stayed in contact with John more, but that let's us know that she was in a mental crisis, which caused her to leave in the first place.
