Hey everyone!
Happy New Year, let's see how 2021 goes. I have not posted in a while, but am excited to get back into it, and we are starting this year with runes and a little guide to them. As mentioned in the video, this is definitely not a complete guide, or all there is to know about runes, but rather just dipping your toes into the water. So, I hope you like it!

I'm not going to push to one side or another of the argument, but Ralph Blum's book is actually the subject of disagreement among many practitioners because of his inclusion of a blank "Odin's Rune" (not found in any version of Futhark), as well as his admission that some of the meanings assigned to runes in his book come more directly from him than from historical documents. For this reason, the book has about the same number of adherents and detractors. In general, I'd suggest starting with a book that includes only one of the original versions of Futhark, and then checking out Blum's version (or more recent derivatives of it) that includes the blank Odin's Rune to decide which system works better for you as a divinatory tool.

@@EllaHarrison I had this video come up as a suggestion , I have been studying the Runes from a historical prospective, so I have not read Ralph Blum's book. I have found Runecasters Handbook by Edred Thorsson and eiements of the Runes by Bernard King helpful to me , also Jackson Crawford's utube channel great for authentic background of the Runes.

I really like this! I have studied and practiced wicca for 6 years and the runes within a period of 3 years. I used Edred Thorsson (Stephen E. Flowers) and used the concepts of the Our Troth books to build an idea of ideal practice. Some say that Nordic beliefs evolved from natural phenomena but then extrapolated into deific forms of kings and mighty warriors. I hold to the idea that the deities are portions of amplified and pigeon-holed emotions and personal beliefs. Loki personifies fire and the human curiosity and failings yet growth from it and the shadow that lies within us. Wicca benefits from all practices but Nordic and Celtic in particular with Golden Dawn structure (thank you Israel Regardie). I liked the ideas presented in this!

Yes I believe so, the runes came a long way all across Europe, though I honestly am not too sure on the exact details with Belgium - worth the research though if you’re more interested in it! 😁

I’m just starting out witchcraft... my girlfriend got me into it... I bought a ring that has the elder Futhark alphabet engraved on it, would this protect me if I cleanses or charged it???

Love the vids, but the amount of ads is getting silly. Also.. the Anglo-Saxon was a futhOrk as the A and O runes were swapped.

Do u feel like ruins are being appropriated? Real question because I don’t think I feel right using them as such. Sidral manifestations of my own mind is where I’m gonna head and I’ll probably just use the major arcana and astrology and stay in my lane. ⬆️ ⬇️

I don’t think appropriation is the right word as that applies to minorities or practices that have been suppressed and then later marketed by the oppressor. Perhaps the runes are being used out of context, by people who don’t bother to learn about them and their history and meanings. But to be honest with you, if a rune is being used by someone carelessly, it is my belief that they will know that and will not work for that person

Elder Futharc and viking runes are not the same. The Vikings used the Younger Futharc.

Again Viking isn’t an ethnic group of people, and the Younger Futhark is technically a deviation from the Elder Futhark. If you look at the old Runestones there are both Elder and Younger being used as inscription method - though the Viking Age in Scandinavia did in fact use the Younger Futhark primarily
