At the start of 2024 everything and everyone felt so negative, it's so awesome to see both Jagex and the players look at the future brightly! And totally agree the calendar genuinely is one of the most underrated updates of the year hahah, it showing more details about teased upcoming updates is so nice.
I always find it goofy how people "min/max" and rush their way to endgame only to complain about the game becoming stale. I've been playing this game off and on for some odd 20+ years. I've never once tried to get 99 in a skill, or finish all the quests, or collect all the money in the game just because... No, I just log in and do whatever strikes my fancy. For instance, I've never had a fire cape, but 20 years later I decided to give it a go. Died near wave 40, that failure gave me a new goal to work towards. The game is still rich in content for me, I don't need or want them to add even more stuff right now. Perhaps you should get another game...
If only everyone had the mindset that you do! That's definitly the best way to approach the game! Happy you still got a lot te look forward to 😄 what are you working on right now?
@@Stormion Same as always, trying to retain the nostalgic feelings of being a noob in RuneScape. ...but more specifically, working of finishing the Fight Caves and finally killing Jad for the first time, I think it's time I get that Fire Cape. People are always saying what a noob I am for not having one... just didn't care until now. Mainly because the Obsidian Cape is getting tiresome to look at.
In hindsight, yeah the rushing to endgame is regretful.. but I think it’s natural. The reason we didn’t do it 15yrs ago is because we just had less information, less guides, less advanced players finding new methods etc. Started playing in 5th grade and I remember buying the runescape manual from the book fair because it was the first time I saw RuneScape info in the real world. It wasn’t very helpful, but I probably read that thing a hundred times. Fast forward to today and we just have a massive library of info, it feels dumb to not utilize it (unless you’re as wise as you) + US the players, have advanced. We used to be the first generation playing PC games. We were all figuring it out Inbetween unplugging the dial up so our parents could make a phone call. We’re just better gamers now. Maybe im just rambling, just have seen a lot of hurt feelings mixed with nostalgia over the years from the community, and I think it comes from a bit of unwillingness to admit time keeps ticking & change is inevitable. We won’t ever go back to fally markets of people telling. That’s okay, at least we got to enjoy it while it existed. I just hope my son finds something similar that he enjoys & develops with.
I am very positive for the future of the game! Communication between the community and the devs was much needed. Cannot wait for the boss dungeon and skilling boss. I hope Storm adds me to his group IM team!!! Fantastic vid. Great commentary about the updates this year!!
Someone needs to advertise the game to people who loathed it's existence since eoc. I literally have a maxed main and noidea how to or what to do or any motivation to even try eoc. Im not alone, i know for a fact that ive met osrs players that just like me havent logged in since the game betrayed our intrest and stubbornly dont want to forgive whoever spearheaded that project.
I definitly feel you. I feel like there definitly were mistakes that were made, From my side, I'll try my very best to get people like you interested in the game again. Since I do feel like Rs3 has a lot more to offer than people (sometimes) give it credit. But it's definitly more obstrusive than OSRS. The recent survey did suggest that they are definitly willing to take the good things from OSRS and bring it to RS3, which I'm suuper excited about. If you ever want some goals, I could definitly give you some: - All combat pets - Master Quest Cape - Completionist Cape - Trimmed Completionist Cape - 120 all cape - True trimmed (all achievements done) - Golden reaper title - ... There's soo much to do! :D
Is this game worth playing in 2024? Depends on who you ask. For a newbie player, definitely not. For an experienced player that is interested into the game, absolutely. For the average player that uncommonly plays this game, probably not. There are a lot of newer games out in the market. I'm mainly looking forward into GTA 6 next year, the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and Until Dawn 2024 later on this year.
You're 100% right. However i'd add this video would be cathered towards people who are interested in the game :D. But fair point. Play what you enjoy! 😄
@@Stormion Sometimes I would see new players or the average player with low skills burying bones at the GE when they could be saving more time and GP using the altar instead. I would recommend for new players to get to know RS3 really well before playing. I would also recommend that they search all the guides, skilling tips, combat abilities, including AFK skilling and PVM. PVP is not necessary unless they are interested into PVP. Not every guide is useful since it varies from player to player like their combat level, if they are a F2P or P2P, meeting the requirements for certain things, what they can and cannot afford in the GE, etc...
@@philr.2661 Definitly.. I guess that's a negative of Runescape being so old at this point. There's SOO much to do and it could be very overwhelming for new players. Definitly agree on that, that's also a reason I made some guides already (f.e my interfaces guide). It's sad that I need to make a guide for it, but I feel like it could help a lot of new players..
@@_proxy5 hey! yeah it definitly is 0 MTX. But the emphasis was because we haven't gotten group ironman for soo long and the fact that they made a MTX free mode again in 2024 is really surprising for RS3. so yeah any ironman mode has 0 MTX. 😄
if u dont subscribe to runescape no its not cause every fucking shit is behind a subscription wall, literally 80% skills, dungeons.... etc. hilarious other games did it better
Great channel, lots of energy here from your detailed explanations of this game. Keep the content pumping! You’ve convinced me to play. I’m a 20yr wow veteran so I need a change!
I played it for 25 hours and fell in love with it, but due to university commitments, I had to take a break. Honestly, I want to get back into it so badly, but I am unsure about what to focus on early on. Guess RU-vid will probably save me 🙃
If you came to the comments section looking for the totally unbiased opinion of someone who definitely is not a 15-year vet with over 20,000 game hours, you're out of luck, but in my very humble opinion, the answer to the question in the title is yes.
Old school Runescape was really difficult. Without any attack skills or healing skills, you just hit back and forth, eating food to heal. A lot of people who like OSRS are just suckers for punishment.
I popped over from watching torvesta, Oda, skill specs etc. just to see if rs3 was any good, have to say it looks very boring I don’t play and RuneScape thought 😂
@@Stormion you have done a good video no hate on that, maybe I’ve just got accustom to the other RU-vid’s just shouting and trying to pk millions 🤣 I’ll check out your other videos 🙌
Personally after all these years i'd restart as an ironman. Because you are "forced" to experience parts of the game that you might not in mainscape. You really get to experience things more. (Obviously you can do it with mainscape as well) but there's no "easy" way 😁
Another great video! I may have missed it, but no comment on the level cap raising to 110 for the Mining/Smithing update, with future considerations for all skills to eventually go to 110 / 120?
Yeah so they said all skills are going to 110 (at some point) and said they're starting off with mining / smithing (with for example the T100 weapon) so i figured that mining / smithing will be the first skill to be raised to 110. It could not be that just yet, but it'd be kinda weird if it wouldn't be .. given that they are going to raise the lvls anyway 😄
Definitly. But they have asked if we'd like to see plugins for Runescape 3 on their Survey and I can't imagine anyone saying they wouldn't want that. Let's hope it becomes a priority for 2025! :D
@@Stormionsomehow wow thrives with plugin support. Runescape should test the waters. Would combat botters if regular or players no longer need scripts to compete.
I get that sentiment. OSRS's numbers are not even comparable to RS3. It's a lot more popular. However, if you look into the grand scheme of things,. RS3 is still a top MMO in terms of active players (20-30k active players at any time). So it's definitly still going strong and in my opinion RS3 is taking a good turn :D.
Osrs is for no life losers honestly don't see why people play it vs the real game rs3 is 100x better only reason to play osrs is for nostalgia and pvp and if you have no life
RS3 is quite literally still one of the top MMOs in the world and always has been, it's never been a failure just because more popular products exist cause by that logic OSRS is also a failure as it's a fraction of the popularity and profit of the biggest name MMOs. Generally speaking whenever RS3 released on new platforms such as Steam it pulls in better numbers than OSRS doing the same thing which shows its actually got a wider appeal but it struggles with long term retention due to how much longer it takes to create content, art alone for a new npc character model at this point takes months because of the sheer complexity/fidelity. In terms of revenue despite being a larger player base OSRS actually only generates a little more despite its advantages and it's within a margin of error where depending on if it has a bad year or good year RS3/OSRS swap around in being the breadwinner. Just to be clear if either game went down the company would either go completely under or would have to downsize massively, temporarily end growth investments, and the remaining game would have its budget cut in literal half.
I'd say it's really personal. Some people really prefer the more relaxed approach of RS3, others like the oldschool MMORPG and grindy style of OSRS. Just depends really. They're both good games!
@@Stormion Yeah. As a player since 2004 (who took various breaks in the game), I loved the new EoC update. The old "hit back and forth watching the numbers and eating food" combat was so stale, and leveling took FOREVER. I personally think most OSRS people are gluttons for punishment.
Nobody knows what the first MMORPG is (depends on what you mean by first MMORPG), but Runescape was the game that got people into the genre. If it wasn't for Runescape, there would be no WoW. Runescape has definitely cemented it's legacy. Sure many other MMORPG's that came after it have way better graphics, but the simple nature of Runescape was part of it's character. Now, days Runescape is touching WoW level graphics. That's why Runescape has lost it's popularity.
