I want a whole lot more content like this! Building up my PA, running smaller gigs locally. I was getting stressed watching this video, and loving it! Lol. :D
Thank for watching Dave! I'll be doing this festival again in October. I'd love to know what pa you are building. haha this one was a wild week for me and I'm glad you enjoyed it.
This young man kept his cool. Don’t know how far you are in building your PA but good mics good console are important but good cables make all the difference. Good luck!
God, us cover bands bring the crappiest equipment! Shout out to the "Wife/GF Drum Roadie" at 21:10 for the drummer best friend! My wife is mine, and she's the absolute BEST drum roadie a crappy cover band drummer ever had!
She is awesome! Glad you are lucky enough to have a wife willing to go out to shows. Many wifes don’t want anything to do with the cover bands. Thanks for being in the comments and watching my videos. Happy Holidays!
26:47 - Bands bringing their own gear can end up being a nightmare if they don't regularly do maintenance on it. The issue with the mic might be a faulty cable, not sure how they have it set up, but if they are using a splitter the signal is becoming unbalanced somewhere and its picking up interference/ground. The second you pulled power and the sound was still there I was like "that's a signal chain issue, which is gonna take too long, best to go for plan B". I had one guy using a Wireless Mic he had brought which was making some unusual noises, I went to check it and it was on a completely illegal frequency, and the unit he had bought unfortunately didn't even tune to any legal frequencies (he had bought a wireless kit for a different countries region), so I handed him an SM58 and told him to return his unit and get the "GB" version of it, otherwise Ofcom would be on his ass. (I doubt he even had a wireless licence)
Man, it's nice to know I'm not the only one that has all sorts of issues to figure out while doing sound. Musicans always say, I don't know why "X" isn't working and I have to problem solve and fix their gear. Like Dude you bought it, learn how to it works. :) Also that guy giving you the line for the Fractal FM3 from his wedge is weird. He's supposed to give you a separate line from the FM3 so he can't mess with FOH if he adjusts volumes or eq for his Headrush.
Dealing with everyones gear is just part of this biz at this level. It's always good to know how the popular gear works so you can make the best out of a performance. Honestly it feels good to know you have to do the same things I do. Glad I'm not alone. Man I didn't even catch the FM3 in the moment, I just wanted this change over to end. lol Your comment is awesome thanks for being here and thank you for the SUB!!!!!!!
I can't stand the official X/32 app. Mixing Station is the cloest thing to proof of a higher power I've ever seen for mixing live audio on that calibre of console.
I have never gotten mixing station to work. I have only tried it on some larger network systems and just never gotten it to work. So I still don't know if I like mixing station. Thanks for watching I'll try it again.
Glad you like the set up. Monitors are a different beast. I force my guys to start on monitors before the run FOH. Builds skills hard to learn other ways.
Awesome job! PA sounds good I’m an EV guy. Use to run all EV in our proprietary cabs and MT cabs & a lil Xray. I’m a Former road worrier of festivals bar gigs and one off at theaters. So I know what you are going through. Being a one man crew I can’t believe how you kept your cool. That wireless mic situation. Looks like a fun show overall I’m sure the after hours parties were insane. Good luck in the future
Dang man thanks for being here. Means a ton to have guys like you part of the channel. I'm runnning this festival again this year. Thanks for watching and dang those X arrays are awesome!
@@DCAVL So the Xaray cabs were the dream of an industry genius back then. He was the president of DB sound out of the greater Chicago area. He was a big player in concert touring using EV he had AC/DC Metallica from the black album through the load albums and he stole the stones from Clair with xaray system. If you pair a Midas desk with xaray you will not hear a better analog system… Awesome channel
I do festival shows all summer long with no help so I feel your pain. It's always good to see middle aged chicks shaken their stuff on the dance floor. Love your channel, keep up the good work.
Thanks for the comment! I panic for sure, but the show went on and thats what matters. I’ll be back for this event in a couple months. It’s twice as many days and hopefully I have some hands on that one. Thanks for being here in the comments!
The rest of my team that would go with me had to stay home. They are building something awesome. I'll have it on the channel soon. Thanks for watching and being here in the comments!
I see that guitar amps used by bands are rather small, and may not interfere with main PA system. But what to do with possible time-phase problems, when amps are big enough to cause interference between itself produced sound, and that sound coming from PA's?
So smaller venues can have issues with amps on stage. Sometimes just turning them across the stage will help a lot. Yes if you are in a small club you can start to have real issues, but most of the time your mains and front fills cover way better and you have no issues.
@@DCAVL dude, like, you know so much, you're a good technician, why hang out with silly cover bands and religious people? i don't mean to de-value in any sense, you're teaching me after all, but I just don't get it
Thanks! This was not my best performance and set up. A lot of things are actually wrong in this video lol Thanks for being here and watching this stupid stuff. Means a lot!
