Who here uses a car for a detailing/valeting business?
@claydoncarcare6087
@claydoncarcare6087 3 года назад
I use a car for detailing, I have a vw touran. And have had no issues with using water and power from customers. So much better than a van better on fuel etc and save tons of money doing so! It’s more cost affective for me! I think having a van is good but I’m not a guy that’s out here going look at meee! I let my work do the taking to be honest

Yep, good old Mk1 Skoda Octavia vrs Estate... Enough space without dropping seats, and quick enough to nip between jobs. No issues with water or electricity as all new clients are informed prior to booking. Got a coat for the rain and layers for the cold, and a flask of coffee and snacks... I am considering changing my Karcher K4 for one of the Direct Hoses Black/Grey washers as the units are very compact (33x25cm!) and the detailing kits come with everything you need and a choice of hose lengths.

This was great!! I love the fact that you brought us along for the day. Excellent point on the kid seats, we have it written in our acknowledgement for that the customer reads and signs, that when we remove the seats we only place them back in their spots and they are responsible for reconnecting them. That way we have absolutely no liability at all!

Excellent job mate! 👍 Nice to see your flexibility on the job. I’ve always been of the opinion that if u can avoid using a van then do. Vans are great especially the Ford transit custom, but they’re a magnet for thieves, require more expensive insurance, and are in no way nearly as comfortable as a car. If u can get a high sided car/mpv/suv, then you’re better off imho. Just a word of caution, if you’re getting continuous headaches, that’s not good man. Try and isolate different things to understand the cause(s). Try different products/ positions/environments and see if there’s any difference. Oh and btw without wishing to sound like a c**k it’s pronounced “vallay” not “valette” Another great vid and can’t wait for the next one. Keep em coming pls Stay safe

Dave this is a great video and a lot of detailers across the pond stress that you must have a van or you are not a legitimate detailer. I have a small SUV a Dodge Nitro and I don't want a van and I am a professional and able to complete every job. It was great to see a detailer mention the children's car seats and being legally responsible if they are not installed correctly. Would you also mention cleaning the brake and gas pedals and NOT applying anything that would make them slick or slippery like an oil based restorer. That is another slippery slope applying anything to the brake and gas pedals that could cause the drivers feet to slip and have an accident. I communicate with the clients so I know what equipment I need and what I will need to complete the job. Your videos rock and I am wondering how Mark and Stephens tea tasted it looked like rubbish. Have a great day. How do we contact you to ask you a question or two?

If I can't get customers to drop their car at mine then I have to use my volkswagen bora. Proper trooper and the boot is a decent size to fit the essentials. That's what it is about sometimes... The essentials.... Currently looking at buying an estate car so that I can get a gazebo in there. If I remember correctly car cleaning guru used to do do it out of a volvo c30 and now does it out of his 370z. My bora is modified and looks pretty cool and customers do compliment me on my 15 year old car. Does it look professional... I don't know but when I get the job done I don't think the car is a problem

@epicautomotivedetailing 3 года назад
Yeh love the fact car cleaning guru does it out the back if a 370z. If you can live without a tank then a car wins hands down for me. I'd be interested to see what it's like without rear seats in an estate car to see how much stuff fits in
@MrMoz0887

Can't take the seats out as I need it for the kids aswell.... Selfish buggers they are 😂😂... But would be interesting... Could potentially squeeze a water tank in the back if you did.... Maybe need to make a false floor or something.

Really interesting even though I am not a professional in any way shape or form. What struck me was the pricing - seems about right. Our local hand car wash at Tesco will charge £26 - more for a big car - with all the issues to do with dirty equipment, harsh chemical etc. In view of this £50 for a safe professional valet seems reasonable. How often do your customers have this done?

I have engineering to fall back on fortunately.. Ie in winter. I want to go all the Way with this to make it a full time business. I'd love to here from you. I know the vids you make take a lot of time and effort so the last thing you want is extra stuff to do but id love to have a conversation with you about how you see this industry going and the best/quickest way I could get to being a confident professional with a good brand eventually. I've 7 years studying and 18 years experience being an engineer but I want my own business. Any help learning the money making techniques would be appreciated so much. Good luck to you! Ps. 100% agree man I always try to work my best around them as a lot of customers expect when they have kids they will get crumbs, bits etc all over again most people are quite the same with that sort of thing but definitely leave them in if possible or in the other case be very clear to your customer before removing them if that’s what your process would rather be either way that sort of thing be very clear on what your doing before you get going with a hoover 👍🏼💎

Still I enjoyed it and became passionate about it and start thinking more about this lately. I was just curious if you can give me a start up price (no van or car required in the price) for tools, products...roughly. Also is it worth spending 5 6 + hours on a car if you can provide other services more in depth, such as wax, polishing...or would be better to stick to 2 h £50 a car taking your example. Thank you and good luck !

Ok so first thing you need to do is look at your branding. Who are you targeting? Is your logo basic, does is it say car wash or bubbles or something gimmicky? To get the big clients your website needs to look class and exclusive to make them want to call
