I bought Hoka Clifton 9 2 weeks ago after I had a run analysis , the shop owner (ultra runner herself) recommended them and told me to run 1-2 times around the block with it. Although it's an adjustment coming from Brooks I have to say, I cannot imagine any other shoes right now. Is like running on tiny trampolines! Plus they correct my tendency of over striding which is pretty bad for a spine patient and cervical prothesis carrier. And I don't have any back pain with them . I told myself I have to earn the expensive shoes, but I think they really save my spine and for what they do for me they are not expensive at all.

That’s great that you love them so much!! I have enjoyed running in them and have even considered repurchasing them 😆 I love that you can see and know the benefits of having the right shoe. It’s much better not to feel like you have to earn it 🫶🏻

How did you not blown up on the internet yet is beyond me. Thank you for sharing your journey! I started watching when I was heavily overweight and had no running experience. Yesterday I ran my first 5k in 34minutes! All thanks to you ❤

Hi Hun. Great Q & A. Just signed up for my first half marathon next May. Been off running for a few months after a life shock. Now back on it although totally unfit and a little bit weighty but after a few weeks feeling better. Maybe a marathon the following year. 🤞Really enjoyed this. Xx

Try the Asics Gel Nimbus next. I think you'll find them similar to your Hokas. Plus you'll have a Nimbus just like Harry Potter. 😉

Requesting a "Woman's Q&A" or section just for us. Qs for it: ☆ Do you make yourself lift/run/cross-train when you are bloated, PMSing, having your monthly, or the day after when you're drained? ☆ Are there certain foods/drinks that aid you to get your workouts/runs in during that time? (E.g. I try not to eat or drink anything cold but that is a challenge during summer months bc it gets so hot and humid where I am.) ☆ Do you handle your hormone/thyroid issues naturally, with the oversight of a doc, or both and what has helped you the most in balancing them? (I experienced hair loss a lot about a year or more ago and it freaked me out, but all I needed personally was to add back in EVOO mildly into my eating and a better quality s&c, which for me is Derma-e Scalp Relief products (I don't struggle with dandruff but a healthy scalp and great conditioner can make all the difference apparently. But I still struggle with thyroid flare-ups.) I feel like the way you describe a marathon is how I would feel if I can get a half done. My oldest actually printed out 2 training schedules to use for motivation to train for my first one (I'd be skipping over the 10k in my case). I guess if I do, I'll have to cave and get a watch of some kind like a Garmin, a vest, and a new pair of shoes bc mine just hit a year old and they certainly need replacing! (Overdue, I know.)

I appreciate your request but I don’t believe I would be the best person to speak about these subjects. I suffer with a condition that I have briefly mentioned in a couple videos because I feel it can help add a bit of context. The very little I’ve spoke about it is all I am comfortable saying 🫶🏻

Something that would be helpful to beginners regarding to your journey is your heart rate (as % of HRmax) and perceived effort. The internet is full of contradicting information. Did you keep track of your heart rate and effort as your training progressed? Is it the same for all runs or do you have hard runs and easy runs? Also how did you speed progress? Did you start running at high speed and increased your durations or first focused on duration and only then on speed. I believe that could make a full video.
@lucyshawvlogs
@lucyshawvlogs 4 месяца назад
I don’t think I would be the right person to clear up any contradicting information out there. I am just an everyday person with no training or real knowledge of these kinds of details. I have a couple videos about how I started running 😊

@@lucyshawvlogs I don't believe anyone is looking for a professional coaching info here but rather the sharing of experience which is what I believe you aim for with this channel. Statements like the one you made about it taking ages for you to be able to run continuously instead of having to take breaks are invaluable as most beginners are always questioning themselves if their slow progress is attributed to over exertion, over training, too fast a pace or too little...
@khushaalishukla45

Hello, Lucy! Commenting on youtube youtube for the first time ever, ha! As a beginner actually wanted to ask you (or anyone who has been doing this running thing for a while), how do you actually get faster? I am definitely quite overweight still and trying to go from 5k to 10 k, and I'm feeling quite discouraged, as I'm averaging a10 minute km :( I'm actually slower than when i started! Did you ever run into this issue? How does one improve? Huge fan of the channel, by the way!
@lucyshawvlogs
@lucyshawvlogs 4 месяца назад
Hey 😀 The best thing I did for speed was intervals. If I wanted to start working on my pace now I would make sure to add this in at least once a week. Recovery is also super important as well so adding some slow recovery runs is what I’d also need. I’m really happy you are enjoying the channel 🫶🏻

Since you are a Disney fan, have you considered one of the Disney running events? I know they are really difficult to get into, but it's been a bucket list item for me....even though I cannot run 5k without stopping yet :) It just looks like such an incredible time. Thanks for sharing all this great information. Good luck at your upcoming event.

Hi Lucy……trainers……I’ve had a couple of bad experiences with trainers, mainly buying online. They either don’t fit correctly or cause me pain so I end up throwing them in the wardrobe to never be seen again. What a waste of money. Do you go to a store to get your trainers? I understand that trainers are a personal thing and depends on your own requirements and physical make up, but I’m not prepared to waste money anymore with buying online. Help and advice appreciated 🏃 🏃‍♀️ 😊
@lucyshawvlogs
@lucyshawvlogs 4 месяца назад
I definitely understand!! It feels like such a waste of money and time when they just aren’t right. I get mine online but I now know what to look for because I got a gait analysis done. I recommend finding a local place on google that can do this for you and they will tell you which ones will work best for you and how you run. I put off doing it for too long and it has made such a difference since. It’s how I got my trainers for my first ultra and I think my trainers were the only things I didn’t complain about 😂
@KarMa-ws3ll
@KarMa-ws3ll 4 месяца назад
I dont know where u live but I found that to a proper independent running store (where the marathon/ ultra runners buy) really helped me. Even if u don't do a full video running analysis, they look how u move, they fit your shoes and in a good store u can try them even outside. I payed the same price like online. And it made all the difference. I went there overweight and all and it still was a really good experience.

@@lucyshawvlogs thanks for the advice Lucy. I’m gonna bite the bullet and purchase a gait analysis at a local running store. Thanks again and keep up the videos 🏃‍♀️ 🏃 👍

London Marathon was incredible for my first marathon this year. Absolutely loved it. I won’t say no to running another marathon just yet, but maybe an ultra would be too far. I’d love to do Manchester Marathon because I’m going to be studying there in a year’s time, and I absolutely adore the city.
