Running Coast to Coast: Andy Payne and the 1928 Transcontinental Footrace 

this is a wonderful story

My grandfather, Wishard F. Lemons worked for many years as an assistant to Mr. Andy Payne in the Oklahoma state capitol building. I remember him talking about him and I even remember putting up a poster to get Andy Payne re-elected. I also remember him talking about him running across the U.S. but to be honest, I found it a little hard to believe. Now I know it is true.

I love this story. I live in Tulsa on top of Cry Baby Hill and I can see the Cyrus Avery Memorial Bridge where Andy ran across in the race heading to New York, City. Great Video.

Incredible true story ! No one even today could accomplish such such a race as Andy Payne did , their lucky to make it 26 miles.....
