Wouldn't be a proper track session without at least SOMETHING going wrong, that's how you know you got the most out of your car! Quality video as always!
@@Shmee150swap out your camera mounts with Smallrig suction mounts, they're far superior to the Ram mounts you're currently running. I doubt but hope you see this.
Me too! The design of that car has a ton of airflow past the engine. Maybe a radiator and/or intercooler isn’t working as designed? I’ve done a track day with BMW M-Cars there in July with triple digit temps and they didn’t overheat.
It's a different cooling set up for racecars. Street cars are made that they can go slow. Race cars have to go fast all the time in order to stay cool.
@@petercrombie6652 If you're referring to Jeremy Clarkson's GT, that was an aftermarket immobilizer system his insurance company forced him to install; not Ford's fault. The 05 GT was never "problem-riddled", that's a myth.
What 2 laps at average speeds and it needs to cool down and it should get cooler on the straight as it has more airflow should it not? All the things that Tim mentions about hyper cars, like his Senna requiring shocks after a couple of thousand miles just makes me cringe. You understand why some are just collected and not driven.
Shmee, you should have an Ireland tour in ur Mustang GT500! you can get some gorgeous shots in the west and south east. The Emerald Island will love your Mustang here and it will be at home as well! Ur Lotus will prolly suit the roads better tho. also love the content! keep it up!!!!
My dad has been in Alaska teaching and just got home today. We just watched this and he loved it! He isn't a car guy. Thanks Tim for giving me and my dad something else to bond over.
Another absolutely EPIC video! The Ford GT is a modern day classic and to actually see it driven the way it was meant to be driven earns my big respect. This track, with these cars adds up to be one AMAZING day! Shmee just continues to kill it with the great content. Thank you!
@@Shmee150He is entirely correct Tim, few may have your money and income but it certainly inspires everybody who watches and gives areal “ feel good” experience. Well done again!😀😀😀😀
💯 Agree! The first time I saw one of Tim’s videos, he was driving , or doing something with, his GT Black Series. (It was already Solar Beam Yellow) I immediately fell in love with that car and knew I had to have one. (I have a picture of an orange one as my Lock Screen on my phone. Dream car!) But when I looked up the information about them, I knew immediately it would never happen because of the price. A couple hundred grand out of my price range. But, I also learned there’s different models that I could afford. Well, about 4 weeks ago I bought a 2016 AMG GTS. And, I’m absolutely in love with it! A giant Black Series style wing has been ordered, and will be here in a few weeks. Lowering springs will be here tomorrow. Rims will be powder coated Satin Black in the next couple of weeks. Once that’s all here, I’ll be wrapping it in a proper super car color, Lime Green. (I’m a wrap installer for a living) Then it’ll be time to do down pipes and a tune. I freaking can’t wait! All because of Tim and his GT Black Series. If you have a dream, go chase it. The reward is amazing!
I love everything shmee does, and have for so so many years, but with that said the title is a clickbaity. We love you shmee and will watch everything regardless, you don’t need to title them like this
This is why i love Tim's videos, you never know what his next video will be. A garage review? A car review? New car? Track day? You just never know. Tim, thanks!
Great time! however, as a Michelin tire designer, I would advise you to not enter the track with such low pressure (1.5/1.6b). You should adjust your tire pressure after warming them up on 1 or 2 first laps. Driving on track with low pressure can damage the tire inside and you don't want that on a fast track where the high speed capacity of the tire is involved.
HI Shmee! Caught you pulling into the gas station on William Cannon on Tuesday! Saw you in the GT tried to say hi, I was in my E92 m3! Beautiful car! Glad you had fun at Cota one of my Favorite tracks and I can see the tower from my House :D
I'm surprised that GT reduced the power already at such relatively low temps (both the oil and coolant) for the track. Also, the car did not have any message to stop driving at full speed, just that it reduced the power, to stop the rising of the temps, so there was nothing broken.
This seems to be a problem with the mechanics of the car itself. Why was it overheating in the first place on the first lap. Is it the Ac Being on the whole time, Is it the rolling resistance causing the engine to work harder because of the Low pressure?.
Sometimes a balanced vehicle is as you said just as important! I once had the chance to drive in a Sports 2000 and boy was that so beautifully balanced it actually would be netural in its nature, in some very high speed corners! It was such a joy to drive!
Shmee150 Absolutely Incredible Video I'm glad you had a great time driving your Absolutely Gorgeous and Incredible Ford GT at COTA and I'm sorry to hear that it had a couple heating issues and I can't wait to see what else is in store
Wow Tim, that Ford GT with a V6 is so impressive. It is such a track car but also a dual threat because it can be daily driven. I’m impressed. Nice driving Tim.
Dang, man. I was there this weekend for the race. I left right after all of the expensive cars went on the track for that cruise lap. I wish I could’ve said hi. COTA is a fun track.
Really interesting point of discussion - Ford engine / coolant temps - Wanted to know peoples thoughts on this .. The coolant temp was 119 Celsius @ 87mph ? Is this normal? Some cars I have seen run 600bhp ie a TT but temps stay low - My fans come on too at 90mph ( on the track lol) so, What is it?
I honestly think your videos are awesome, very entertaining and informative. And you are so enthusiastic which is a lesson for life. Also I find it very funny that Newcastle goal that was out of play probably cost Arsenal the title! 😂 Howay the lads! 😜
@Shmee150 not a fan of the Title. Other than that, great video again even though the cameras struggled. It was great seeing the Ford GT at speed at Cota. Cota has sort of become a favorite of mine in RR3 (i play regularly). Such a great track to play around with different lines and speeds... I love that.
2 laps in a car, as you said 'built to be driven on a race track', and is already heating?? a multi thousand dollars car?? i dont have money for that but even if i would, thats why i would never spend me money on these primadonnas that have zero amount of reliability...
I'll assume you have never been in Texas heat. There are tons of cars, this expensive or not, that would have an issue being pushed in that type of heat.
@@Patryn71 lol ah ah ah man, think about what you've wrote... forget the ford gt, think in any other car: they dont work in texas heat? and in miami heat? dubai heat? recife heat? are you trying to tell me a 500K car (i think that was the price) cant do more than 2 laps "in texas heat"? and those two laps, as you saw, were made at max 145 mph, i think, and just on the straights, it wasnt a 5 hour race, man... why theres always some guy whining about something it aint even his? man, i follow this channel and enjoy it but that dont mean that tim is the "illuminati" in this world and that im a sheep... how many times have tim ride "in dubai heat", for instance? with the Merc, for instance... something's wrong when you give 500K for a car and that car dont work "in texas heat"... please dont reply more, i dont want to waste my patience with you... 500K for a car that dont work "in texas heat" ohhhh, blimey :)
@@Patryn71 why theres always some guy whining about something it aint even his? dude, that ford is a 500K car (i think that was the price tim paid) and after 2 laps "in texas heat, damn" where max speed was just 145 mph twice, the car failed... strange how many car races and motogp races goes on there, "in texas heat" and never saw any warnings "allright folks, your machines gonna fail cause of "texas heat"... and in Miami heat? or Dubai heat? Recife heat? Man, i guess the australian outback cars dont even start... tim, himself, started the vid saying "this car is built for a race track"... and Tim drove other cars in "other type of heats" :) and never happened nothing... he had is Merc "in Dubai heat", man... please dont reply cause i dont wanna waste anymore time with this... you are right, ok?
That's me at at the 7:37 mark on the Terrace taking photos with the teal bag across my chest. I thought Shmee was there but couldn't find him. Was Emilia there too? I know she was in Austin. The whole event was amazing! I wish I could have rode with someone dang it!
Likely guess because the weather is so hot in US, plus the ford gt was able to get as much air flow into it, try waiting till the tracks are a bit cooler then the car won't over heat.
@@AB-80-X Yet there are guys in the GT forum funny 170 mph such as Big Bend Road race for 120 miles and tracked at COTA with no issues. Tim needs to get his car checked
SMEE when will you look back to history and add some classic supercars to your collection. Yes I get how you love the new supercars. But Muria, Countach, Jalpo, Maserati Indy, Ferrari Testarossa, Daytona, F50. Jaguar XK120, D-type. Come on man these are the genesis of petrolhead heaven. Let’s see some in your garage.
Someone in licensing department in USA definitely didn't like you tha "DYKE" tag on dark horse is hilarious you definitely have to keep it and put it on wall in The Shmuseum 😅😂😊
