The average person walks Corsica’s merciless GR20 trail in two weeks. Ultrarunner Rory Bosio is not average. See what the 118 mile trail looks like in 50 hours. Discover More: bit.ly/TheNorth... #NeverStopExploring
crazy how these endurance athletes are all skin and bones with some muscle yet their energy and endurance is through the roof. The body and mind are amazing things.
As a competitive ultra runner as well... and a very CLEAN eater, nothing fuels as quickly as high carbs/salty processed food does during an event. You need things that takes very little effort to digest, which junk food does well on. Top ultra athletes don’t eat like this every day... so all these comments suggesting she should “eat healthier,” have actually zero idea. I never drink soda except at a race... and it is liquid gold for glycogen absorption. So....why is she wiped out? Because she is pushing her body to its limit, not the diet. Very few people actually understand what this gain to distance ratio is like. Imagine climbing Everest twice while running over a 100. She’s a bad ass, nuff said. Go Rory!!!
First thing one will learn about running 100+ miles is that you need to eat more calories than you normally could imagine and you need quick carbs, sugar, sodium, etc. If anyone takes some time to understand Rory, they will learn that she knows a lot about what to eat and when to eat it to give her body enough calories to sustain this much work. And her results speak volumes.
I used to race point to point mtn bike races 30+ mile. I’ve had many times I had to dump sugar packets in my water just to unbonk. I stopped after college because I started to have stomach issues from extremely low body fat. My organs were cannibalizing.
The dog part is me, I'm always yelling at the dogs..hey! DO NOT RUIN MY RUN, go back to your house!..its hilarious at 5 in the morning in the middle of the dark by myself
This was amazing!! "I wanna sleep, but I can't.....we have longer then...." That felt like a line out of my life! & Robert Frost. God Bless You!!!!!!!!
I respect you. I've been there, you belong to an elite club of "never surrender" type individuals - overcoming adversity and with that, have a strong inner will and abundance of character. I recognize that in you. Keep going.
Way to go Rory and The North Face! Read a few of the critiques in the comments section and personally I feel they all miss the point. Food review / too much colour saturation, cussing, whatever. Do you understand what she just did???
Well, anyone whose ever challenged the mountain at some point has heard the mountain in their head taunting them, calling them weak and unable to keep going. But, the strong rise above the doubt and say; Watch Me! And they are the ones who conquer the hill. I respect you. I've been there, you belong to an elite club of "never surrender" type individuals - overcoming adversity and with that, have a strong inner will and abundance of character. I recognize that in you. Well she claims to beat & demoralize men but she is 3 hours behind them. How is losing a race by 3 hours a national treasure ??? She is not even in the top female runners in the world.
SS...the only real competitive race that she (Mira) has competed in was the Mont-Blanc 80k in 2015. And she was behind 14 men. She was over 2 hours behind the leaders. www.montblancmarathon.net/images/mbmarathon/resultats-pdf/resultats_2015/Resultats%2080km%202015.pdf Mira is not a top female runner on the world stage and Rory isn't either. The worlds best female runners cannot compete with against the worlds best men let alone demoralize them. Can a good regional female beat a lumber jack LMAO sure but comparing apples to watermelons is really silly. Research was done several years back and it showed that world class female athletes were on the level of 15 YO high school boys. Don't believe me google the 100 meters --- Flo Jo hols the world record at 10.5 and the boys high school WR is 10.00 a half a second quicker which is FOREVER.
@@JD-hs7ib Not that she needs any justification, but she has won UTMB, perhaps the most prestigious international ultra distance race on Earth, twice. No American man has ever won UTMB.
Very impressing pictures. Very beautiful world. Very cool Rory :-) It is when you doing something like 30 years with passion .... you get amazingly good in it - that's the price :-)
Too cool. I’ve done this all be it a bit slower. As in North and South sections with a few days at the beach after each hol! Corsica is epic, via Ferrara, canyoning, climbing n beautiful beaches.
O Geez... What the heck did they do on 0:20... Some hiking schizophrenia... Did the production want us all to taste what is it like to have schizophrenia????
More than likely yes, and then even further to make sure he/she covered all the camera angles while carrying the heavy camera equipment necessary. Video producers are like the offensive lineman, they do a lot of the hard work and get no credit.
If I had to guess, I'd say it was a combination of running about 30 miles total, driving around a lot, not sleeping at all, and giving cameras to her pacers for critical moments.
I was wondering what happened to her pack at the beginning of the run...she had it on and then it was gone? Simply amazing though I know I would never be able to do that!
I think those are something like tattoo stickers, she likes to put on for races... Sth like a lucky charm. She had one when she won UTMB the second time.
Could it have been a FKT attempt? But was unsuccessful so changed the focus of the film? Woman's record for the GR20 is just over 41hrs 22mins. Agree great film and looks like an amazing route.
Amazing drive, but then she is a Pediatric ICU Nurse. But then she needs alone time. People don't understand the need for RN's to have alone time. Been an RN for 34+ years and love having alone time. I guess to take care of myself instead of everyone else.
Thanks for your helpful suggestion, Larry. Are there any other things you’d like to change? I personally thought the shot at 6:49 could have been at least 14 frames longer.
@Hieu TV she is joking and you can tell she is rebelling against an age old sexist stereotype that men are stronger than women. Her strength and endurance is uncommon and typical weekend warriors are probably astonished by her abilities...basically its a little moment to show off...LOL I dont think she is saying any of those things with a mean spirit at all...just having fun.
I don't understand the point of putting all the people speaking at one time, on one screen... really irritating! I just don't understand the logic. People do, and watch these sort of feats to escape crowds, and then what does this video do... create a 'crowd compilation?'
@@jameslalonde7587 i work side by side with Rory. She's a genuinely nice person and a badass nurse. There are probably countless people who would agree with the statement of "people make me crazy" lol that statement could even apply to an innocent thing such as sitting in a long line of traffic or attending a large public event with a multitude of strangers around. In what way does enjoying alone time make someone a "phony?"
