Can you please do a video on performing dorsi flexion during strides and looking at how elite runners do it ...I’ve only just heard of dorsi flexion and I’m working on it but an analysis would be super helpful. Also a new breakdown on Christopher Taylor sounds needy but he just ran a 44.88 400 and a 10.11 100 and we’re similar in height so seeing how someone his size moves that fast is a pleasure . Your last video of his was great but maybe a longer sprint & faster times ? Great Content I watch every track related video !
Dorsiflexion is elevation of the toes and foot during sprinting. The foot can flex in two ways: dorsiflexion, raising the toe above the ankle, and plantarflexion, pointing the toe. You can experience plantar flexion by pointing the toes. You can experience dorsiflexion by stretching the calf. You can also dorsiflex and plantarflex your toes by lifting and lowering them. Once you experience dorsiflexion in the calf stretch, you need to learn how to hold this position on your own. The anterior tibialis muscle on the front of the shin is responsible for dorsiflexion. Try sitting in a chair and using that muscle to rotate your foot upwards for 10 or 20 reps. If you do this right, you can get a feel for dorsiflexion. Now you will need to practice dorsiflexion during running. Be careful to avoid striking the ground with the heel. Running barefoot on a firm surface like a rubber track will help because it will allow you to find the right foot and ankle position to dorsiflex the foot while striking the ground on the forefoot. Dorsiflexion is important because it stretches the muscles and tendons in the foot and shin, allowing the foot to be springy as it punches the ground.
Performance Lab of California Um I don’t think my ankles are too bad in terms of mobility , it feels like more of a issue of know how and conscious effort on my part . Like I’ve been so used to plantar flexing the whole way through because when I used to hear run on your toes I naturally just turned to plantar flexing.
Curve running is thrilling but very hard for joint of knees compare to straight lane Why we tired in curve running when not tired in straight road running or straight lane Example: i do 65 second 400 m in curve and straight standard track I do sub 60 in straight 400 m road Reply me sir
Probably because of an inefficient toe off or leg cycle. If you are pushing off and the foot is going too wide then it takes double the amount of energy to run the curve, while running in a straight line it is still probably there it just doesn't have as big of an impact..
