For the past year Stance has been bringing groups of runners together to explore the street art and communities in the cities they live and train in. After three hugely successful events in 2016, the tour continues this year in three more cities.
The Stance team created the European Street Art Tour as a physical embodiment of the brand’s ethos and to allow runners to discover the creativity and performance of the socks themselves.
The tour takes in six cities: in 2016 the runners explored street art in London, Copenhagen and Paris. In 2017 the tour continues with runs in Milan (18 May), Amsterdam (1 June) and Hamburg (22 June).
How the Street Art Tour works
In the spirit of the Uncommon Thread, the street art runs bring together a group of runners in each city, along with an expert in the local street art. The runners are guided around some of the best-known pieces of street art as well as some hidden gems. Each run finishes with a party including live street art creation, music, food and craft beer.
Running between the pieces of art means the participants can cover 10km or more, seeing iconic examples of graffiti as well as exciting new installations. The guides are passionate about the street art scene in their cities so the runners have a unique opportunity to learn about the artists and the communities they are running through. Having breathed life into a category that had been ignored, taken for granted, looked over, and dismissed, Stance sought a way to show how their socks perform brilliantly whilst looking great. Running events are the ideal way to do that. Combining running with street art perfectly demonstrates the position Stance takes at the intersection of creativity and performance.
