“MAMARU” Available For Pre-Order “Mama Ru claps back at past contestants who fancy a conspiracy theory.” Video directed by Weston Allen. @westonallen64
@@Sunshine-zm1fx I think they meant into full drag, also she could’ve recorded it in between RPDR filmings or something so she won’t even have to get in drag just for this vid
All facts and lies aside, this has some great nostalgic footage when Ru first came on the scene. She really did create a cultural shift in attitude about drag. Being a teen from a small town in GA in 1989, I had no idea that a MAN could be a stunningly gorgeous woman! Even though, it was extremely risky for societal norms at the time, I found the artistry and confidence of it very inspiring. NOW, I straight up love me some drag queens!! So, you gotta give some respect for that! 💗👸
Thank you! This younger generation needs to know! Times were so different back then, so to even have a drag queen in the mainstream, when doing drag wasn’t considered a cool thing was huge. There was no drag race yet - and even ppl in gay bars would look at drag queens as the bottom of the barrel. Put some respect on Ru for helping create the gayest show on mainstream television because is was not always that way, especially for older generations
@@j0mamathan So true! When we hear some of the queens talk about how their family disowned them or didn't accept them even in this day and age, they need to understand that back then it was "normal" to not be accepted. People like Ru and Marsha P Johnson truly should be admired for the courage to be their true self when it definitely wasn't considered cool. Even today, there are still people who can't/won't do it out of fear. Maybe that will help young people imagine how many people have been set free by the courage of a few!
I tip my had to drag queens & RuPaul who provided me with fond memories I have with my dearly departed mum. My mum introduced me to Ru as a kid watching Supermodel(You Better Werk), B52's Love Shack, films & TV shows Ru was in & season 1&2 of RuPaul's Drag Race(mum passed in March 2011) when the 1st 2 seasons appeared on TV at 1am my mum & I would lay in my bedroom watching Ru & the queens. I owe a lot of my confidence to Drag queens & education of LGBTQIA+(I came out as Pansexual 6 months ago) community by the community. I'd like to thank the LGBTQIA+ community for teaching me so much about the community and opening my eyes on who I am & accepting me 1st as an ally & now as a proud Pansexual.
@@missfleming5465 Welcome to the LGBTQIA+ community, and thank you for sharing this beautiful story. I'm so sorry to hear about your loss, but I'm touched to hear how her memory lives on. It's so cool that she was a Ru fan for so many years, and even watched her with her child! I'm happy she got to see a couple seasons of Drag Race too. As a gay man who loves watching Drag Race with my own mom, I can relate. It's such a fun bonding experience, and as someone who lives in a deeply conservative small town, the show and its queens can honestly feel like such a life line.
Not Ru making this song when she knows damn well the editing is shady as fuck. The show literally has Frankensentences to make queens say things they didn't 😂
@First Name Last Name LMAO that's a lie. Even in earlier seasons, they took peoples' reactions to one thing, and then placed it somewhere else for shade. That's why they make the queens all wear the same thing in the confessionals so they don't caught anymore. 💀
The truth is somewhere in between. It's so easy to say "they still said it... They still did it" but there's so many other ways to do a shady edit: -Taking a comment about one person and editing it to sound like it's about someone else. -Cutting parts of multiple conversations and putting them back together to make someone say something they didn't (literally the reason they make them wear the same confessional outfit now) -Cutting entire parts of conversations out -Editing out all the good parts about one queen or editing out all the bad parts about another. Or just editing a queen out altogether. -Using shady sound effects constantly on one queen to make the audience feel the way they want about them -Not showing that Ru is not always nice or "motherly" off camera -Putting the wrong reaction shots or editing in silence to make it look like a queen is bombing -Putting pressure on queens to have a storyline or serve up drama or be booted -Literally telling the queens what they want them to do or or say or risk being booted or not showcased -Making things that were jokes sound serious or like insults Nobody truly knows what they signed on for until they are they. Because of non-disclosure contacts, the boys bits that slip out here and there are just the tip of the iceberg. Also let's not forget the racism, hate, and death threats people get for how they were portrayed on the show when people don't understand reality TV is not actually real.
100%. We can, and should be blaming the edit, blaming the producers, and blaming the contract when it comes to the way they actively abuse contestants and judges. They know controversy breeds engagement and views, so they create villains where they don’t exist.
Exactly! The break before commercials always frustrate me. They show someone making a comment with another's extreme reaction. Then after the commercial, you realize it was said to someone else...and that person's reaction was about something else. I personally love the seasons that revolved around friendship, mentoring or positivity. I mean Adore, Bianca, Bob, Alyssa, Shangela, Pandora, Monet...obviously the list could go on. Then look at the notorious S7. That edited mess was a fiasco, yet some of my most loved queens are from that season. But that freaking edit, design, storyline, whatever, just didn't give us the initial enthusiasm we have for our fave queens. So yeah, there is definitely shady editing!
@@SprocketsDaddy listen to call me mother and then listen to the big big beat. We are talking plagiarism mama, an entire flow lifted and placed into Rus track. Not inspiration.
Absolutely killing it yet again Mama Ru 🥰. Loved you ever since you released ‘Supermodel of the world’ single. Inspired me to create my very own drag persona and I’m loving it 😍…thank you for making drag so much more accessible and accepted xxx
@@sharkbaithoohaha6987 You were better off saying Jaremi quit drag and does cosplay under his birth name. I did notice he was at NYCCC this weekend for cosplay.
Um it’s a well known fact at this point that the producers wanted to make Jaremi a villain. The mirror reveal face crack moment was completely scripted and was not a surprise to the girls at all. Just one of many examples.
Wowww what a flex and reminder by using the vintage footage of Ru. It’s like “look bitch, I’ve paid my dues, you’re lucky to even have a platform to showcase your talent on. If you don’t wanna be part of a reality show, then don’t be apart of it” 😂😂
I don't blame the edit. I like shady queens and the fights that gave us Phi Phi, The Vixen, etc.. I blame THE FANDOM. Just because they see something in the show and attacks the queens.. that is why the cast complain. Don't attack and enjoy the show with everything.
Mama Ru you are definitely an icon! I'm doing drag and feeling happy since i know you... Thank you so much for everything you made for us. I'm so glad to know you...
Ok but seriously this is how a boss handles hate... They turn it into gold... Got to love the business model. If you never said it it can't be used against you!
I feel a bit of this is aimed at Tamisha because I’ve heard other queens blame the edit, but Tamisha took it a step further and said it was “scripted” and then the “unbothered” moment felt aimed at her as well because while she’s complaining about someone not liking her outfits she’s also making like 50 videos and posts stating how “unbothered” she is… Over and over.
There are so many queens and even judges (canada) that spoke about production manufacturing personalities that have nothing to do with real people. Did they said what they said? Yeah. But was it cut in half and put out of context? It sure was. RuPaul is disgusting for making this song right now.
The production actually DO screw over some queens when it comes to editing. Phi Phi/Jeremy is probably the prime example of that. Though he was extremely rude on his season. They would take a lot of his confessionals and paste them in front of, or after certain clips. The proof? The magical and random “wardrobe changes” that would happen with those copy and pasted confessionals footage.
Not Rupaul making this song when you know you did Max dirty 👀 Editing is all about context. If you weren’t about doing them dirty, you wouldn’t require the same outfit across confessionals.
Gurrrrrl I know. Max’s career never ever ever recovered after that 1 minute on the show. (That’s sarcasm by the way.) Maybe it’s because YOU keep reviving it? How about we Stan Max’s work since the show instead of constantly dragging them back into a 1 minute awkward moment that you can’t seem to get over... almost like you have a vendetta against Max. I’m sure they’d appreciate it if you let that go honey.
@@powder-blue The comments on this vid show exactly how much further dragrace fans look than the show. They don't. So tone down your expectations of this toxic fanbase sis.
RDR is ALL shady editing to create drama! Producers tell contestants to start drama, or tell them what somebody else said behind their back, just trying to get a reaction. And don't even get me started on the favoritism!!
The editing of the video is so so so good, love how they made it look like the old clips were her mouthing the song. Honestly this is just amazing, Ru keeps surprising me
Rupual is the queen of monetizing mama, also notice mama ru doesn’t spend much on her music videos at all, like no budget but yet she still makes a killing off it we love a cheap queen lol
