I will never understand why this album wasn't much bigger. Unique, diverse, beautifully produced and well written. And it has aged incredibly well. An all time alternative classic in my book.

I LOVE THIS DARKNESS Rupert has going on on this album, especially track number 5, so many echoes like Depeche Mode, so many wonderful similarities, no wonder I first loved THIS album by Rupert back in 1981 and then Depeche Mode from 1981! Rupert was sooooo much ahead of his time, so much. The whole of this "Immutiny" album sounds like released today, 2021!!!!

Rupert played live in my tiny home town back then (21-7-1981, rural Winterswijk, The Netherlands). No one over there had ever heard of Hine, but many just decided to visit the concert as a way to spend a nice summer evening, not really interested in the music at all. As an early teenager (I was 14 at the time) I had been mesmerised for a while by Hine and had played my parents' copy of Immunity (LP) many many times. My mum got a copy from her brother who owned and still owns a record strore. Hine has a special place in my musical heart. He has shaped my sense for 'the uncanny' in music which I explored later on through f.i. the work of the Legendary Pink Dots. Hine's been a pioneer in electronic pop music and was far ahead of many contempories in blending different sounds and keeping an eye on the over all sound quality. His collaboration with Jeanette Obstoj shouldn't be underestimated. Her lyrics are brilliant. Listen f.i. to ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MUS9C2fz40w.html

Nice Jos. I grew up in Winterswijk and also attended the concert, I was 15... I still remember how it impressed me, the big man banging the drums to name some. Rupert died the past week I learned. Sad news.

Funny to read that you attended that concert too and still have some memories, Hans. I'm well aware that you grew up there, too. Your father was my physics teacher, your two sisters have been my class mates and we sat next to each other in 'Het Cultureel Centrum' (next to 'Hine's square') after graduation, when the certificates were handed out ;) I didn't know Hine has just passed away. That's sad.

So sad we lost Rupert Hine. Ive loved him since the early 80s. I worked for a large record company in the early 80s and i got to meet a bznd he influenced and produced, The Fixx. It was lovely, but it would of been my real wish to meet Rupert. I admire his vast, vast talents

A one of kind record (like many in the first part of the early '80s) never to be repeated. From start to finish, brilliant, mysterious, and as Rupert himself said "the background noises in the songs are intentionally placed.

A very peculiar sound in the time it was published. It stands perfectly between 70's and 80's... Metronomic music crossover, can hear influences of Peter Gabriel/Genesis (TLLDOB), Canterbury group, King Crimson (before and after Discipline) mixed with Brian Eno, Talking Heads, electro-pop, electro-dark, and minimalism... some futuristic elecro bits could be heard in it as well...It resumes the sound's experimentation that was possible to hear in that period.

I just can´t help but to think, that especially track number 5, reminds me of so many Depeche Mode tracks. I have loved Depeche Mode the best group, ever since their beginning, 1981 and still do, but I´m so sure that Martin Gore was listening to this same album as I was back then (1981) and am now (2021), I used to listen to this album back in 1981 back and forth and I feel that Rupert was soooo ahead of his time. This album´s sonic world is so TODAY, 2021. Listen to Depeche Mode´s tracks like "Rush", "Stripped" and "Fly on The Windscreen" and something of "Dream On". You´ll find the similarities. Not a bad thing, well not to me!!

Very good but also rather dark. Seems that we are all insane. Maybe:The human race can not stop fighting against other countrys. Most of us see: My father has a bigger car, so i will buy also a bigger car. Rich people get richer, poor have nothing. Meanwhile a friend of me, who was living from jobcenter got no money from them. He is 54 years old, has a doctor in physics and a doctor in informatik. He had until he was 52 years old many choices: Work on a university to hold seminars for young semester but he liked it more to discover the "Quantenphysik". He was one of the first people, which could proove in a team with mathematics, that there is nor matery. First they told that he and his team were insane. No he was right. He explained what is in the atoms. Even Protons and Neutrons -no, He worked more found the quarks, and then he found the strings. But they are not of matery, They are as Vibrations like those on a violin. No materie. After that he could explain that we are living in more thn 25 Dimensions. 0 the point, 1 a line, 2 a circle, 3 a room. And we are all lost in these dimensions. Because we are embedded in time.Time has only one direction. We all get older. And we can not escape. Einstein and E=m x c² is true. Light has a speed of 300.000 km/s. But we can not reach it. If we reach 90% of this speed, we get heavy and our mass is going to infinite. If we reach 300.000 km/s time is standing still. At this point if it would be possible to go faster we would come back in time. And he found out that not only light or waves are coming in packets. No, time and the room too. Google it if You think that i lie. He got no job and had to sell his car, his house, everything, Then he was a poor man.Jobcenter gave him 40 m² to live. Now the energy coasts so much, that jobcenter stopped giving money to him. He had to live on the street. He was drunken everyday. Now he depends on alcohol. Next week i will drive 900 km to Munich to search him. Hope i will find him. Sorry for my bad English !
