What is so fascinating about this is that Rupert Spira is here giving us authentic mystical Christian teaching. If the Churches could only trust the depth of their tradition and share this power and beauty and mystery, that Eckhart articulates so remarkably, then we would see a profound growth in the Christian faith.
It's there, and it is spreading. See for example Thomas Keating's work with centering prayer and the ongoing influence of Thomas Merton. The Church isn't against its own mystical tradition, but it has historically viewed mysticism as something that can only safely be explored by experts with theological training. But this is changing for the better. Consider this statement by Pope Francis: ""A religion without mystics is a philosophy."
@SIMPLY HUMAN You are making a false assumption. God is Love. Love does not force mystical knowledge, i.e. Communion. We can only be Transfigured by consent to the free gift of grace. Anyone who truly longs for God comes to Know God in proportion, as an immediate experiential Presence. Yes, some have used religion for violence; it does not follow from the fact that a hammer can be used for killing that it was only made for killing and that in the future it can only be used for killing. The purpose and function of religion is to unite the soul with God.

There are profound nondual insights in the high theology of Thomas Aquinas, for instance Yes, the Church has had its failures and abuses. But the way forward isn't to complain about the past, but to nourish and encourage the seeds of truth it bears. Those who deny such seeds simply have not found them: they are there. If you want to transform your average Catholic, you will only make an enemy if you disparage Catholicism. Entice them with Meister Eckhart and St. John of the Cross instead. Mysticism is like a psychedelic: it amplifies what is already happening. A devout Catholic partaking in Mass and experiencing a sense of Communion between the Divine and Human in Christ is experiencing a low-volume mystical reality. This is the element that should be encouraged. Religion cannot be destroyed, but it can be transformed by renewing it with its own source.
All that is to be understood or desired is still not God, but where mind and desires end, in that darkness, God shines. Meister Eckhart. Thank you Rupert for all the beauty.

On this Christmas Day, I like to read from the Gospel of John in the Bible: 1 In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He existed in the beginning with God. 3 God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. 4 The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it. And 10 He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him. 11 He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. 12 But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. 13 They are reborn - not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God. Beautiful verses, beautiful truth.

Here, at Christmastime, we are celebrating the eternal birth which God the Father bore and bears unceasingly in eternity, because this same birth is now born in time, in human nature. There is a saying of the wise man, "When all things lay in the midst of silence, then there descended down into me from on high, from the royal throne, a secret word." The soul in which this birth is to take place must keep absolutely pure and must live in noble fashion, quite collected and turned entirely inward, not running out through the five senses into the multiplicity of creatures, but all interned and collected and in the purest part - there is His place. Where is the silence, and where is the place where the word is spoken?' - As I said just now, it is in the purest thing that the soul is capable of, in the noblest part, the ground. Indeed, in the very essence of the soul which is the soul's most secret part. There is the silent 'middle,' for no creature ever entered there and no image, nor has the soul there either activity or understanding; therefore she is not aware there of any image, whether of herself or of any other creature. Whatever the soul effects, she effects with her powers. What she understands, she understands with the intellect. What she remembers, she does with memory; if she would love, she does that with the will, and thus she works with her powers and not with her essence. Every external act is linked with some means. The power of sight works only through the eyes; otherwise it can neither employ nor bestow vision, and so it is with all the other senses. The soul's every external act is effected by some means. But in the soul's essence there is no activity, for the powers she works with emanate from the ground of being. Yet in that ground is the silent 'middle': here nothing but rest and celebration for this birth, this act, that God the Father may speak His word there, for this part is by nature receptive to nothing save only the divine essence, without mediation. Here God enters the soul with His all, not merely with a part. God enters here the ground of the soul. None can touch the ground of the soul but God alone. No creature can enter the soul's ground, but must stop outside, in the 'powers.' And you must know too that inwardly the soul is free and void of all means and all images - which is why God can freely unite with her without form or likeness. God needs no image and has no image: without any means, likeness, or image God operates in the soul - right in the ground where no image ever got in, but only He Himself with His own being. This no creature can do. God the Father has a perfect insight into Himself, pro found and thorough knowledge of Himself by Himself, and not through any image. And thus God the Father gives birth to His Son in the true unity of the divine nature. See, it is like this and in no other way that God the Father gives birth to the Son in the ground and essence of the soul, and thus unites Himself with her. For if any image were present there would be no real union, and in that real union lies the soul's whole beatitude. Therefore you have to be and dwell in the essence and in the ground, and there God will touch you with His simple essence without the intervention of any image. No image represents and signifies itself: it always aims and points to that of which it is the image. And, since you have no image but of what is outside yourself (which is drawn in through the senses and continually points to that of which it is the image), there fore it is impossible for you to be beatified by any image whatsoever. And therefore there must be a silence and a stillness, and the Father must speak in that, and give birth to His Son, and perform His works free from all images. Here, at Christmastime, we are celebrating the eternal birth which God the Father bore and bears unceasingly in eternity, because this same birth is now born in time, in human nature.

Please don’t take this the wrong way anyone but either I’m really sick or I’m not open or I’m not intelligent enough to understand what the hell this man is going on about. I listen to Eckhart Tolle listen to other and many other spiritual teachers, and I understand and it makes sense, and I so want to understand this man, but within five minutes I’m either falling asleep, or I’m lost lol.😊
i would suggest you just start with his meditations first. just listen before bed, but dont try to understand. I too passed over Rupert initially, only to return many months later, when i was ready to hear the message. Or try one of his dialogues, where someone else is asking the questions, i would recommend his talk with Bernardo Kastrupp or Rupert Sheldrake. Very enlightening! lol.
Everything about this is wonderful ...except, that we will no longer celebrate a FICTION, this will be the last Christmas we celebrate thinking that Christ was born on this day. He was born sometime in the spring ( still not sure if there was Jesus, however, I do know that the Christ is within us all, the "Cristos", the Sacred secretion, the CSF-cerebral spinal fluid... which is to be raised up/heaved up (heaven) so we become Christed/Christened) We will celebrate in a different way. We will celebrate by helping others/ service to others, we may buy gifts/ offerings to express gratitude, we will be in gratitude and performing random acts of kindness and continue to spread love, joy and light to everyone....no separation, we will hopefully and finally [real-eyes] that ALL IS ONE, WE ARE ONE, ALL IS GOD, GOD IS LOVE, WE ARE GOD/ LOVE...... No more will we be celebrating a satanic, Jesuit created [holly-day]🙏🏻🇨🇦💜
GOD do not need to be born in human nature why His SuBlime highest of the high need to degrade his condition of absolute power and perfection to inberfect and sining humans condition? If you do not have enough faith and believe in your heart not even he comes thousand times to be you will believe ? It is not enough all the miracles through his hundreds of Prophets for the man to believe This is unacceptable to say the unlimited power and force who created the whole universe and the man to come in Jesus ? He never said he was God and the ones who wrote the Bible it was their own perception of his more deep message they did not capture
