Hello, I just started picking up aoe a few months ago, and I was wanting to know if you have a sort of tips video for the new season, just general do’s and don’t’s and tips for the average player?
i recommend the Art of War challenges in the single player mode, try to work towards getting at least a silver medal in all of them , but the "Basic Combat" one I thought was pretty difficult to get better than bronze LOL (but that is because it requires a lot of difficult micro). Also fight the AI 1v1 and get to a point where you can beat the Hard AI . (Ignore the Hardest AI it is currently a cheater and is essentially hard AI with x2 resource gathering). Also queuing up to play with teams, 3v3 and 4v4, can be fun, just hope that you get positioned behind a teammate so you dont have to be on the front lines, and do your best to help your teammates and get as much experience playing the game as you like
I have been playing Rus and horse archers don't feel like their cost-power ratio is very good, to the extent they don't trade with other units well enough for them to be worth pursuing with gusto (they also seem to require a lot more micro which is an additional downside for your average player [like me]). Regular archers feel like better value. In this casted game, I got the sense that if Demu massed regular archers earlier instead of the horse archers he might have stomped it home at that earlier point in the match. Rus knights are very good though. The special horse-health tech being cheaper with new patch is nice. Kremlim is not bad at all! 'Kremlin Gremlins' are a fun mechanic. I totally concur that if the rally point of Kremlin is where the Gremlins auto-run towards that would be a very nice change, hopefully that gets implemented at some point. It would be nice to see Demu trying out the warrior monks a bit more at some point, as if I remember correctly the 'saints blessing' got buffed with the new patch. Knight/regular-archer/sprinkling-of-monks combo should theoretically be quite strong this patch.
Worst part of ur gameplay as rus is the scouting never worry about the deer near you always hit their base always scout for barracks / villager resource distribution to predict feudal take any dear near them 2nd scout scouts the closest trade unscouted areas and onto wolves and first scout should be working his way back by time you find the next deer patch clear up anything near their side and either decide if u can cheese or if u need to heavily harrass asap age 2 immediately stables 2 knights and wheelbarrow black smith then while harassing rush siege works rush archers build rams continue to harass with knights drop milita to the front of their base by this time rams are done and u should begin by hitting the sides where the villagers are food gold then wood villagers in that order kiting any melee military away from rams and bring archers in between rams and vills then knights can kite the melee as you destroy their economy and they watch helplessly as soon as rams touch their landmarks u jump to castle drop keep if theyre not dead and micro your archers as hard as possible on any spears or vills kite back to keep and by castle 20 mins in you win. You can now produce trebs warrior monks hit a fancy wololo in their wood line if u set up ambushes properly with a hand full of men at arms and 6 archers and a few knights outside their door rams coming from the side calvary for bait into the men and archers this strategy requires literaly 6 knights 2 horsemen 2 horse archers 6 archers and 3 rams
