Hey guys, found your guys channel just yesterday, and I subscribed immediately. Totally refreshing to firstly hear prog and metal fans that have level headed opinions and aren’t complete nerds. Secondly, absolutely classy and tasteful critiques of all sorts of music, very much digging the aesthetic choices and knowledge you both bring to the table. Great and entertaining editing, love the specific music interjections to give context to your points in the review. Anyway, I’m not typically the sort to write to channels, but you guys deliver. If you get the chance, I’d love to hear your opinion on Cynic’s ‘Focus’ or Atheist ‘Unquestionable Presence’.

In 1973 I won Thier first album from a old AM radio station in Safford,Arizona. It was a pre-release. In 74 when Neil joined, that solidified my love for this trio. All albums up to Moving Pictures were imo thier best work.

Having grown up on Rush (got on the bus at '2112' when it came out summer of '76, eighth grade, yee-ha!), been a fan throughout the story, and 'Moving Pictures' is, for me, the paradigm of perfection. I've seen them many times and I got to see this tour in Mobile, Alabama, 1981. It was so choice, I wish you could'a been there, chaps. Peace.

"Limelight" has been my favourite for a long time. As an introvert myself, I can fully relate to Neil's lyrics and appreciate how they accurately describe our struggles with living in a society that idealizes extroverts, where we're often erroneously labeled as being shy by people who really don't take the time to get to know us and what makes us tick. And I totally agree with what you said about Alex's solo; I've seen performances done by several tribute acts, but for me, they just didn't have the same emotional impact as the original. I'm really looking forward to hearing more of your insights. 🎤 🎸 🥁 🎸 🔥 🔥 🔥

I got started on Rush with Hemispheres in 1978 at the age of 11. I'd have to wait a few years before this came out when I was in grade 8. I'm still not really tired of Tom Sawyer or Limelight, despite their heavy continuing airplay on Canadian rock stations.

I got started with 2112 about the same time and quickly discovered Hemispheres which really hooked me.

One of the reasons Neil had issues About interviews was he found it hard when others would ask about how is doing since the car accident of his Daughter then shortly after his wife passed from cancer ,

I believe this is the first Rush album my Dad listened to, I definitely heard it a lot when I was very young, and so I got into them, I really got into them when the Rush In Rio DVD came out and just seeing them play live in in front of Tens of Thousands of passionate Brazilian fans left an impression in my young mind. Roll The Bones was my Favourite Rush song for a long time then it was Distant Early Warning and then it was 2112 or at least the first two parts Overture & The Temple of Syrinx, and then a few years later when Snakes and Arrows came out, that's when I realised the impact of listening to an Entire Album, in fact it was the first album that blew my mind. I could go on and on but I think it would be better in video chat or something if you guys are interested? By the way, Awesome Review as always! 👏

Love teh channel but never commented on this one. Huge Rush fan. Favorite band. This is my second favorite album of theirs. Signals #1. I listened to this first on my friend's Walkman back in the early 80s also. I think you both did well ranking the songs. All these songs would be on my playlist or higher. Red Barchetta and Bravado are my favorite Rush songs. I love Witch hunt but it is my least favorite song on this album. And Limelight is my next least favorite (or right above it). I just cannot get into the guitar solo as much as many people do. Vital Signs was the first Rush song I remember hearing and liking so it holds a special place in my heart. I bought the Signals album (he first rush album I bought) because I thought it had Vital Signs on it. You know "Signals get crossed . .. " I did not know the title of the song and I thought it just made sense that Vital Signs would be on Signals. Love Camera Eye also. super under rated song. So well constructed. I love YYZ and Tom Sawyer but those are the songs that I might have heard too many times so they have dropped slightly in my ranking of Rush songs. But they are superb.

I love MP and agree that it was the perfect transition to the next decade, but my all time favorite song is Natural Science.

From what I’ve listened to by rush permanent waves maybe my favorite album by them. Natural science is my favorite song by them I do like hemispheres that’s my favorite by them though I like their 7-10 minute epics better then their 20 minute epics. The Necromancer is actually one of my other favorite songs by them

My 1st Rush album my older brother bought the album when it came out and recorded it onto cassette for me. Red Barchetta was and always has been my favorite song on the album. The drum fills that bookend the "dream with my uncle at the fireside" part are utterly ridiculous, still gives me chills every time. Like a lot of people at the time I focused on side 1 and mostly neglected side 2 until years later. Camera Eye is my favorite on that side. Overall I don't think Geddy's voice ever sounded better before or since. p.s. - Great live version of Witch Hunt (and The Weapon, also part of Fear trilogy) on their Grace Under Pressure concert video.

Rush's last good album before they became Mush. But shows signs of their decline with the Police reggae beats on Vital Signs and shift away from hard rock toward a new wave sound.

RUSH's most important album was 2112. If that hadnt of done well, RUSH was over. After Caress of Steel bombed in sales, RUSH had one album left on their contract with Mercury Records. And were given the ultimatum to make radio friendly songs in length. But the guys decided if this was their last album, they would go out their way. And Neil wrote a 20+ minute, 7 part suite, 2112. It was giving the record execs the middle finger. But, it became their best selling album up to that point. And was the album that gave them the leeway to make instrumentals like LA VILLA STRANGIATO, with is really RUSH being self indulgent. But also a killer Prog Metal song. The album 2112 and the song itself, ensconced them in Rock history. Moving pictures was their most successful album. And maybe their best album from cover to cover, but not the most important album

Darius, you lost your "king" due to 'ranking Red Barchetta so low' heresy. -'Vital Signs' is their most underrated song.
