I probably heard Tom Sawyer on the radio when I was younger, but it was Subdivisions for me too. That was the first one of theirs I heard that really made a connection inside my socially awkward, mathematical, Tolkien-reading teenager brain. I love all their albums, but for me the three albums Moving Pictures, Signals and P/G are the perfect blend of heavy prog rock and new wave synth rock.

My first concert ever was when the New World Tour came to town. Extremely disappointing not to have a live show released here. I'm hoping....maybe foolishly so....that a live show will be released later on. But if that were going to happen you'd think they'd have that as part of the box set of...junk. I mean what are you supposed to do with a bunch of 8x10's of the guys? What are you supposed to do with a bunch of 45's? Unless my memory has failed...again...this year is also 30 years for Counterparts.....and next year will be 40 for Grace Under Pressure. Just throwing that out there.

I loved this album so much. I was thirteen and got my own little stereo with dual cassette decks and detachable speakers for Christmas. My brother bought Signals for me. I wore that cassette out! It was the perfect album for that moment in youth and that decade.

@@TanaHandbag They did, because I have soundboard recordings of pre-Signals and post-Signals concerts. They were recorded. Also, additional songs were recorded as well, such as Bob & Doug McKenzie's, "Take Off" and Kim Mitchell's "Battlescar" as well as 2 incomplete songs, "White Flag" and "Tough Break" with Jack Secret. I have all of these. Mercury should have just called me for a bonus disc.

And that would make me a Rush fan for 40 years! It's my anniversary too! Discovered them July 4, 1982 at the 4th of July parade. Some guy was playing it on his boom box and I had to know what it was. Grandmom and mom said "That guy is obnoxious!" No. He wasn't. He was BRILLIANT. I was over the moon later that year when they released a new album. This was my first Rush album.

On top of that, if this release is like Moving Pictures and 2112, the much-advertised 2015 remaster on CD will be more compressed and possibly re-EQed from the original download. PeW, Hemispheres, and Farewell were untouched in that regard though- they matched the download. It's really hard to understand some of the decisions they've made with this series....

1975 fly by night, caress of steel, 2112, farwell to kings, hemispheres, permanent waves, moving pictures, to signals 1982. there are many other great Rush albums. but has ANY band matched Rush's 1975 - 1982 output? measured by ANY metric. simply awesome....astounding creativity and musicianship.

I remember when i was 6 years old hearing this album for the first time. And all i did was play Subdivisions over and over. And 40 years later, it still gives me shivers. Sometimes, i can't even listen to that song as it just hits me way too much. And then there are the times where i want it to, and next thing ya know is the neighbors are upset because the song has been on for an hour and i should really turn it down. But its better when you cant hear anyone pounding on the door, over the volume.

When I think about some kind of future for Rush, I think that Al and Geddy have so much gas left in the tank. Then I think about Neil; and realize nobody drummed like him; and nobody wrote such insightful-philosophical lyrics in the way he did. I love and miss them so much, but I just cannot come up with an answer, other than the one they concluded... RIP Neil and Rush, thank you for what you have given, and for what we have; it is indeed enough and we are blessed...

Was captivated by Hugh Syme’s design at the time and from looks of it he out done himself again. Haven’t bought any of anniversary releases but I may be tempted to grab this for artwork alone.

Neil Peart came to wildacres retreat years ago and loved it. It is a non-profit retreat that hosts musicians, authors, painters, craftsman, even religious scholars. It's nestled in the blue ridge mountains of NC at the top of Pompey knob, has a 200 seat auditorium with stage, sound system, and 3 meals a day for guests. I only mention it because I work at wildacres and love Rush, if you guys would ever like to host a class or get away, we'd love to have you. We all can dream, eh?

Proud to say Signals was one of the first - maybe THE first - CD's I ever purchased....if it had been vinyl the needle would've eventually broken through it ;-)
