Thanks for your thoughts. We all need a little more love and a little more hope. I hope one day soon we will be free to live & love freely again. ❤️ Neil Peart was one of the greatest drummers ever & his lyrics were second to none. Been a RUSH fan since 1975. 🤘❤️
This is one of my favorite Rush songs as well, but there is so much more. These guys grew musically through four decades, changing styles as they went and still remaining Rush. I hope you will continue with this band. 👍🤘
I'm a 40 year RUSH fan who just happened to stumble across your channel, and I'm very glad I did. I loved the way you characterized how you felt like you were watching the birth of something special. That's what I felt the first time I heard RUSH ! I would characterize RUSH as "classic progressive" rock, and they really do take you on quite a musical thrill ride, the way they are constantly changing and shifting the music. There's a "surprise" around every corner . RUSH had a huge influence on bands such as TOOL and DREAM THEATRE, just to name a few. Neil Peart wrote all of the lyrics for RUSH, and he passed away in 2020. The song," Tom Sawyer" would be a wonderful next stop on your RUSH journey! (Official Video). ☮
Hello! Thank you for watching! I'm glad you stumbled upon my channel 😊 It's so much fun to discover music in this way. Getting reccomandations, stumbling upon.. I love it. Peace and love ❤️M
Yes, classic Progressive rock is more accurate... I thought that as well after I made my request😏 You have about 2 or 3 years more than I do of being a RUSH fan lol And @Magne Tom Sawyer is a Great song and one of RUSH's most popular song's and would be a great song to listen to if you want to go into RUSH some more. I requested The Trees because I felt it would probably resonate with you as much as it does me... Also it's Very likely you have already heard Tom Sawyer and may not have known it if you watch movies and or tv cause it has been used in lots of media!
Your insight is right on point. They are characters, and very playful toward each other-they’re best friends and the sincerity of their work comes through as being super serious, yet after you’ve seen them live you begin to understand they’re just up there cutting up with each other, having a good time, playing some superb music and spreading the word of peace, love, and understanding. Great reaction, keep them coming.🤘🖖✌️🥁🎸🎹🎤🥇🇨🇦👍👌
if you want to watch another "important" song by them -- and you want to get your mind blown -- watch the live version of "Xanadu", from their 1981 concert video "Exit Stage Left". It will blow your mind and you'll get to see Neil Peart use ALL those percussion instruments behind him! It's a song based on Samuel Taylor Coleridge's unfinished masterpiece, "Kubla Kahn: A Vision". You've got to see that and have your world enriched!
I was busy yesterday but saw this first thing this morning, you were not late at all but I was🙃 What a wonderful thing to wake up to, RUSH + Magne And a lovely bd message, Thank you!💗 I am so sorry for your loss, your friend sounds like he was a wonderful friend and a Beautiful soul💙And for you to take the time and energy to do this for me during such a time And you aren't feeling well... that means a Lot to me! I wish I was close by so I could make you some home made soup or something. I hope you feel better soon and are able to take some time to take care of yourself, physically and spiritually. I am glad you liked the lyrics and song as well. The Trees may not be their most popular song but it always resonated with me and has been a favourite of mine ever since my Mom introduced me to RUSH, such a timeless and relevant message. Get well soon Magne, Sending you Love and a Big HUG❤ Namaste
Hello my friend!! Thank you for your kind words! I'm happy you enjoyed the video! You really deserved a video for your birthday! I love your enthusiasm and that you take your time to put down some words to me. It seems that it's not only you who enjoy RUSH. This video has got more views in short time than many other videos. Keep up reccomanding! I still have so much to explore! I hope you get som peace of mind in the days coming. It was so nice to get this lovely message from you tonight. Lots of love ❤️ ❤️M
Hello friend, it is been a miniature eternity since I last checked in on your Channel. Absolutely wonderful to hear your voice again I swear I could listen to you read the telephone book and it would still be pretty relaxing. It is interesting that like with some of the metal reactions you were doing that. You have reached once again into a band from my childhood, and have given me an interesting New Perspective to see their work through as it is been introduced to you now. Rush are a huge part of my musical upbringing I first heard them in the early 1980s, and they were already an established band at that point, very much recognized as classical influenced and the band that sort of spanned the bridge between Progressive music and metal, not that Rush ever were metal band per say... But they were heavy and yet still Incorporated delicate and articulated musical elements like you here in this particular song. Truly glad you enjoyed this, there is a wealth of beautiful music in the rush library and I hope it will continue to give you inspiration for a long time to come. Take care of yourself great to see you are still doing what you do so very well. M.
Hello my friend! Nice to hear from you again! I just love to hear that you like my voice. Maybe I'll make an episode where I read the telephone book 😂 And it's cool that I find bands that you have an relation to. What I love with this project is that I just open up for all this music, from my perspective, and also get to hear from others how they experience and what stories they have to the same bands and music. Keep on watching , and keep those lovely comments coming! Peace and love ❤️🙏❤️M
You have my sympathies over your loss. As for Rush.... their music varies a lot. The Trees is one of their more quirky songs. Their sound kept changing over the course of their 40-year career.
Rush has a deep catalogue and Neil along with being one of the best drummers in rock was also an amazing lyrist. Rush influenced a great number of bands. A few suggestions Natural Science Red Barchetta Earthshine live in Rio La Villa Strangiato official music video Xanadu from Exit Stage Left Cheers 🇨🇦
Great reaction. First the drummer last name is pEARt not Part. He wasn't one of the best drummers in the world, he was the best drummer on the planet. Watch any drum solo this man does, and you'll see why. The Frankfurt, Germany solo is what most people react to,but any one of them will let you know why he is considered the G.O.A.T. He's not just a rock drummer,he also does Big Band,Jazz,Swing and so much more. He was ( RIP) the foundation for so many drummers of yesterday and today.
Hemispheres my favorite Rush album. The attention to detail they learned to this point in making their sound as their chops grew, everything looked easy to them after this
This is a philosophical work of art and Neil's ability to document human nature. I think many people miss the underlying meaning because they don't appreciate the impact of the last line; "the trees are all kept equal by hatchet, axe and saw". This is a poetic way to explain that we live in a backward world, where those who complain the loudest get preferential treatment (an example would be affirmative action). Leaders often cave in to the whims of those that "feel" they have been wronged, even though the alleged oppressors have no control over their "oppression". It's not oppression at all. It's all made up by those who got the short end of the stick. In their anger, they'll lie, cheat and steal to get something from nothing. The Oaks are the ones who end up suffering and exponentially worse than anything the maples ever endured. Having your tree tops and branches amputated seems a bit extreme for some (me) and don't think it achieves anything resembling fairness or equality. This world is being ruined by politicians and corporate elites that implement horrible, dangerous and severely unfair policies. They claim to want to help specific groups but always at the expense of others. How is that fair? Who has more right to rights? People must stop whining about things that cannot be controlled; race, gender, height, weight etc etc; suck it up and get on with it. We all have issues to deal with but it's how we deal with them that shows strength or weakness. Helping less the less fortunate is noble but at what expense to the greater good?
Hello! Thank you for watching! Great reflections of the lyrics! This is exactly what I love with this poem. That it say so much about the world in a symbolic and poetic way. Peace and love ❤️M
it was not just the oaks who got amputated. The trees are ALL kept equal. Go ahead, form a union to get collectively what you can't get by your own merit; ultimately you'll get what everyone gets. The final stanza is my favorite Neil lyric, though I have read him saying it is his least favorite song. 'its about what would happen if trees acted as stupidly as people.'
@@michaelzilkowsky2936 While it does say that all the trees are kept equal, it doesn't mean they've all had the same treatment. We can infer that the optimal height of all trees (according to the union of Maples) should be the average height of Maples. To achieve that, only Oaks would have to be mutilated. That's the point Neil's making; what seems noble and just to the ignorant, bleeding heart masses is often the opposite, they simply haven't the capacity to recognize the hypocrisy and call it out. Those that scream for justice by committing injustice are hypocrites that don't think critically, have no common sense or virtue.
Great reaction! Reading the lyrics at the end was a nice touch. Peart was such a great lyricist, and sometimes that gets lost behind their incredible musicianship. Thanks for doing this! You should check out Far Cry, its on Rush's Snakes and Arrows album. Super energy and of course great lyrics.
Rush is, generally, a Progressive/Hard Rock band. They were deep into 70's Prog when this song came out, in 1978/79. This was the end of a great period of growth and change for the band, before they would launch yet another change, in 1980.
Great Reaction. Very Thorough .. Sorry for your loss man. Hang on there. CIRCUMSTANCES Off of the same album is a must. (Its the song prior to The Trees) Sooooo good....
Neil Peart is known as "The professor" because of him not only being a drummer but also being a percussionist like in an orchestra. During the late 1970s, Peart augmented his acoustic setup with diverse percussion instruments, including orchestra bells, tubular bells, wind chimes, crotales, timbales, timpani, gong, temple blocks, bell tree, triangle, and melodic cowbells. From the mid-1980s, Peart replaced several of these pieces with MIDI trigger pads. This was done in order to trigger sounds sampled from various pieces of acoustic percussion that would otherwise consume far too much stage area. Some purely electronic non-instrumental sounds were also used. One classic MIDI pad used is the Malletkat Express, which is a two-octave electronic MIDI device that resembles a xylophone or piano. The Malletkat Express is composed of rubber pads for the "keys" so that any stick can be used. He also used foot trigger pads and played horns, drums and sound effects with his feet. writers compared him favorably with other top shelf rock drummers. He was "considered one of the best rock drummers of all time, alongside John Bonham of Led Zeppelin; Ringo Starr of The Beatles; Keith Moon of The Who and Ginger Baker of Cream. Being "known for his technical proficiency", the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame inducted him in 1983.
Hi Magne, thank you for the Rush video which I enjoyed. I am sorry for your loss and hope you are feeling better soon. Might I suggest you check out TEMPERANCE - Diamanti or TEMPERANCE - Pure Life Unfolds which is a little more uplifting in the Metal genre. I find I like uplifting music in bad times. =)
Good review , but now you need to continue with Xanadu , exit stage left live , it starts from the trees ending , the sound does not stop , the two go as - 1
Oh man, ids you’re drawn to the lyrics, you will get lost within the Rush catalog - so much to explore. I’d suggest Freewill or The Spirit of Radio for great examples. Cheers!
