My cousins were on that school bus that fatefull day. Davey and Mikey Holden. I remember going down to the Shade Gap picnic as a kid . My grandmother took me and my twin brother. Can Remember fishing with Mikey and Davey. I was only 8 y.o. in 1966. But remember the story well Those twisted teeth really made Bicycle Pete scary as Hell. I know Russ and he told me that he was in a recording session. While there, a couple of people from the record company had written this song. They wanted Russ to record the song, but he refused saying he didn't want to make money off someone's else's misery. Some big wig from Decca came over and told Russ to record the song or he'd be off the label. He recorded the song, obviously. I have two videos on Russ on my RU-vid Page. First, in the playlist called "Fiddles & Frets", there is an interview I did with Russ on an internet radio program I had done in the past. Also, Russ had done a house concert at our house. I lived streamed the concert over Ustream, and this is the recording. That is under the Playlist "House Concerts". I just uploaded that yesterday.
Bicycle Pete lived on my great great grandparents farm (Fogal's). He was killed on Rubecks's farm, which for several generations was owned by my great great parents, the Gelvin's.
I only live but a mile from Rubik's Farm and my grandmother used to own Hilltop Restaurant in shade Gap and I'm going to tell you what I know about 8 days and shade Gap because my dad was part of it if anybody wants to know please leave a comment
I DO!!! I WANT TO KNOW!!! I AM A VICTIM OF VIOLENCE THRU OUT MY LIFE!! Mine was many and many diff ones and homes! Etc... Then got nearly killed in a horrible car wreck! And Disabled for yrs now! Life has been bad!!! Hee story of survival and her message inspires me! TG!!! She made out alive!!! I cried for the agent and the dogs!!! ALLLL OF THE DOGS!! HIS!! AND THE ONES LOOKING FOR HIM!! In the movie a dog was killed another injured...but I don't know if that is true or not because they changed a lot of details!!?? Hard to know what is isn't true! Ok...I read here that he was forced to do this CORNY CORNY SONG!!! SORRY BUT THIS IS LIKE MAJOR CORNEY! I CANT BELIEVE DECA MADE HIM DO THIS!!! There's always some damned body wanting to profit from others pain!!! I have been in a few horrible car wrecks over my 59 yrs and I am and each gd time while I was laying there in miserable suffering and pain ALLL THESE GD A CHASERS WERE FN CALLING ME ON MY PHONE!! THEY I GUESS WERE GETTIN ANY FRESH WRECK REPORTS AND WAS THEN GETTING NUMBERS AND CALLING THEM UP!!! I mean alll these places and slimy lawyers etc ALLLL WANTED TO PROFIT OFF MY OAIN AND LOSS!!! AND ANY TIME I GOT ANY KIND OF SETTLEMENT MOST OF IT WENT TO FREAKIN DOCS LAWYERS THERAPY PLACES ETC.... HELL I BARELY GOT JACK SHIT!! LET ME TELL U THE HC SYSTEMS LIGHTS GO ON AND LIGHT UP BRIGHT WHEN THEY KNOW U BEEN IN ANY KIND OF ACCIDENT AND ESP IF THEY KNOW ANY KIND OF LAWYER IS INVOLVED!! And on my 1 car the other persons ins only wanted to give me a 100 damned dollars! My suffering alone along with my sons was worth a 10000 times that!!?? Good grief!!?? But it was interesting to know this was made and out there! I just wish to hell HOLLYWOOD WOULD FFEAKIN DO STORIES THE EXACT WAY THEY HAPPEN!!! AND NOT GO CHANGING SHIT AROUND!!?? Because we alll know that he fully intended to keep her a life long sex slave to him and rape her over and over!!!! AS this was not her choice!!!!!
