I love him! I saw him play at the Roxy in LA recently and I didn't stop smiling and laughing the whole time.. he is hilariously entertaining! I love that the mandolin broke in this, that's so funny, just his sense of humor... I agree with the last commentator, do never change Russell!! You're the perfect the way you are!
Genius! I like the smug Bono look on his face when he's "playing" the madolin. That's some mighty fine acting. Loved when him and Matt talked about this on the show. Love you Russell, never change
yes, they got in a mandolin tutor to teach it to him for the advert, apparently there was a razor in the mandolin that would break the string when it was played really hard, but russell never did it right so they had to edit around him. Funny story as the mandolin tutors son was there when russell tried to do it, the kid did it first time.
He's from Essex btw. I have read My Booky Wook 3 times now and i still laugh every time i read it... This man can't go wrong at all!!! My mum and dad hate the fact that i really like Russell, but they cant stop me now. I Love him! Why isnt everyone like Russell (bar the drugs etc lol) =P

On the radio 2 website there is behind the scenes of all 3 adverts (the others being Terry Wogan and Chris Evans) and they all play an instrument themselves

he does a few things...hes a great stand-up comedian, he has his own show called russell brands ponderland, i think he has his own talk show too and he has his own radio slot thing aswell...i think after forgetting sarah marshall though hell probably focus more towards acting...his autobiography, "my bookie wook" is being made into a movie and hes playing himself.

It doesnt matter what you play, its how you play it and the heart you put in it that decides if you're a rockstar, whether your playing a Fender Stratocaster or a classical mandolin.( BTW, fender makes mandolins too.)

One of the most intelligent improvisers of all time. The man's wit is actually absurd, he's a freak. If you think he has no talent you know nothing about comedy. You might not like his style, but that by no means makes him talentless.
Elsewhere on youtube is a video of a 'behind the scenes' of this advert and it clearly shows Russell playing before the final dub and it definately is not him playing it! Theres a professional mandolin player who is doing the actual playing. Russell is taught, however where to put his fingers so that it looks real. Great advert though!
