Russell utterly captivated me once I was old enough to understand/consume his humour. I was mesmerised by how totally masterful he was at commanding a room. He would have a whole studio in the palm of his hands - very few comedians can do that when they're not performing their material. For Russell, the present moment is an act of improvisation and his comedic prowess and command of language is able to have its way. Jordan Peterson once said that the most dangerous thing you can be is: articulate, and upon reflection, it was this weaponry which Brand wielded so masterfully, that I was drawn to. His evolution is very commendable. He was actually one of the people who got me interested, at 16, in world affairs, because the way he would present information on 'Trew News' was a totally new format, that delivered information quickly, thought-provokingly and with his classic sardonicism throughout. Calling out Hugo Boss for making Nazi uniforms at the GQ awards will forever be one of the most hilarious things I've ever seen.

That's the real message here. The system we live in encourages selfishness. Capitalism's goal is literally the accumulation of capital and power. It's impossible for a whole society to do that, which is why we have massive inequality. Instead we need a system in which people lift each other up.

Coming here fresh from the dark corner of the internet of cartel chainsaw executions, new world order, serial killers and population control- this is truly an optimistic outlook on the state of affairs. Its interesting as fuck to witness the sheer spectrum of duality of humanity... and how vastly different each human experience can be. All while we all breath the same air, live on the same flying rock and live our parallel existences in this exact moment in time and space..

I believe what he means by standing up for her, all though very naive I agree.. is that if every person in power negatively effected by her decisions adjusted their system to suit organic food production Sri Lanka would flourish.
