I’ve always admired him because I watched his self-help videos for addiction. He’s in the news today for raping two women. I am now disappointed. Yes, people can change, but to get better. You have to admit the fault that you’ve done in your life -,he did not admit his.

Can ANYONE answer this question? Why has Chicago Fire tv series been suggesting that Fentanyl be given to first responders' patients? I'm a fan of the show. I feel like I ABSOLUTELY have to say that. My questions keeps getting taken down by other websites, such as Quora and Reddit. Is it really this taboo to as a question about NBCUniversal or Comcast? Are there questions that citizens are not permitted to ask? I'm looking all over the internet with not even a single article written about the topic. I wonder why is that? I'm positive I'm not the only viewer to notice it. What is the connecting between Fentanyl and the Chicago Fire tv series???

I love his book my wife has never been a drinker and has never used drugs. My self I started drinking and using pills smoking weed at 13 on to nitrous oxide and huffing everything that messed me up by the age of 15. By the time I was 20 years old I started using meth and was addicted to violence I got clean at 25 on my own and met my wife soon after I have done everything books, therapy etc. His book helped me learn about my self and I keep learning about my self my wife loves his book because she has a technology addiction. Great book for any one even those who live with an addict and are trying to understand and/or help them.

Anyone else catch the frauduan slip at the end? “I’m not happy unless I feel like I’m worth something…err, doing something worthwhile for other people”. I have a friend who’s very similar to Russel personality wise, in that he seems to have almost an obsession with saving everyone else. He’s been a huge support in my life, but after losing my husband a few years ago, I couldn’t handle talking to him because he wouldn’t just let me grieve and be sad. He started to grow embittered and angry with me because I came to realize that his confidence and high self-esteem were based on other people, and he needed to be there for me so that he felt better about himself. What’s hurtful is that I’ve to realize that over the past 25 years he’s also been more or less treating me as if I was an inferior human being who he took pity on. For a long time I was so grateful. But now thinking back I remember that he really kind of contributed to me feeling like a rejected outcast. Whenever I would be feeling mentally well, and behave more like someone who had healthy self-esteem, I remember he would get mad or make fun of me. Not all the time, grant it, we were true friends, there’s not denying that. I love him dearly. I just, I sometimes worry he might be a true narcissist, and that he only likes me when I play a role as an insecure underdog who needs his help, or that will listen to him talk about how amazing his life is. But deep down, I don’t think he’s really happy. We’re not as close because I am more guarded as to protect myself. So anyways, when Russel said he only feels happy when he feels like he’s worth something, it reminded me so much of my friend, who happens to be a big fan of Russel, lol. I feel bad saying this about my friend, cause I still think he’s a great person, Russel too, and if they’re helping people, that’s more than I can say for more self. Both he and my friend are 2 of the funniest people I’ve ever encountered. Could be I’m just wrong too.

Vickram Chuni not all people who have taken those drugs are hopeless idiots. You’ve seen too many anti drugs propaganda. Yes they’re bad, but if you don’t go too far ie injecting was my no no, you can be ok. Quit before you’re 30 or 10 years, whichever comes first. That’s what I did and I’ve always been quite functional. Yes, I’ve dealt with a lot of death of acquaintances. Russell quit in his twenties, over 20 years ago. Ex addicts tend to work on fitness and health to get clean, then to make up for the bad health, then cos it feels good.

I got his recovery book because I usually like his input. I was discouraged to learn that he’s a 12 step enthusiast. I’ve done AA before and it didn’t work for me. He’s a great person though and I admire his eagerness to help.

Make sure you find whatever it is that works for you :) I’ve accepted 12 steps doesn’t work for me, doesn’t work for a lot of people! But other stuff will, it’s just a case of finding it. I’m a heroin addict and trying to really kick it for good. I’ve gotten it down to the point where I’m now working full-time in a manager role and my life is vaguely stable (except money is still an issue, still get behind on bills and stuff cos of using) but I’m hoping to continue improving and soon will be at the stage where I stop completely. Good luck to you xx

At the end of the day, this exercise teaches us that, in many cases, looking trippy in public isn’t as bad as we believe. Sure, we might get some looks and giggles, but these don’t hurt, now do they? The Cynic philosopher Diogenes of Sinope used to sleep in a barrel on the streets, walking around in ragged clothes, ‘pleasured’ himself in public, and tripped balls with people who walked past him. He fucked what people thought of him. Therefore, no one was able to hurt him.

The comment that everyone is some sort of addict is an insult to my own addiction. Lol. That is minimizing the entire outlook on what it means to be an addict. Yes you can be addicted to anything and everyone can be an addict. But to be an addict means to continue to use a substance or perform a behavior even in the presence of a vast amount of negative consequences. Having someone compare let’s say a coffee addiction to alcoholism or taking to many Ibuprofen to drug addiction is ridiculous. Unless you are spending your entire paycheck on coffee or Ibuprofen I would not put you in the addict category. We need to focus the help on those that truly need it and putting everyone under this umbrella category of addiction makes people with real problems seem less important.

Only issue with Brand is that he repackaged the 12 steps of AA and resold it for profit. That is throwing AA under the bus and betraying the very thing that freed him- its an expression of extreme egoism, which does not bode well.
@Melissa-kw1sl
@Melissa-kw1sl 2 года назад
I’ve been thinking this too. I love what he says and how he thinks. But I’ve been asking myself how I feel about him using the 12 steps for profit. And how does this relate to the tradition of “ personal anonymity at the level of press, radio and film.” I think he’s helping many people but I he’s just retelling what Bill W brought to fruition.
@lizclegg7556
@lizclegg7556 Год назад
I wonder whether his book and all his TV interviews, and the exposure he has give the 12 step programmes, are all a giant Step 12 for him. It is good for people to know about the 12 step programmes and that recovery is possible. But yes, as per Melissa below, he has not maintained personal anonymity, and he has profited financially from the programmes. He should have donated the profits from Recovery to charitable organisations.

I watched this two days ago. I went to my family with my Fetynol and drug problems in the middle of watching this. I am only 2 days sober. I'll never ask for a Blue again, without remembering this pain and what it took, what I had inside me and doubted, the whole time. This video is a curse...it is a timid idea...it is a thought a "program" that if you can pull even a couple of good things from this program, maybe not even the whole 12, you can fu***ng quit drugs. No, I am not using MAT treatment. Cold turkey...legs won't stop moving and doing a jig for hours on end, bloody, fearful New Mexico-bred withdrawals. ...okay, with a grandma to feed me and not treat me any differently and an aunt who gives a shit enough to accept me. And a cousin that hopefully thinks of me simply as "her cousin" This is the kindest thing I have wrote in years. Be kind, people. There's a wealth of common sense and peace it's really just right..f*****ng there. Just right in your very own mirror. Jesus "what had I become" (t. reznor.)
