Haha, so true about the 2 extremes of ethnic people. Growing up in a small town with the half the group being White and the other half Mexican, i was either too Mexican or not enough. How does that, ethnic limbo?, even happen with only 2 choices? Good hike and nice change of scenery.

As an Indian bornand raised in Indonesia I can totally relate to Peters being identified as an indian in his hometown and being identified as a foreigner in India. We are not a part of anything. In Indonesia people refer to me as the indian. And yet when I go to India somehow they can spot me as a foreigner. Even though I totally look like them!! *Sigh*
Kinda hilarious that Kevin Nealon doesn't know that Russell Peters has Christian names because he is from the Christian Indian diaspora. and Indo-Canadian is a thing. Nowadays, people say South Asian more but in the 1960s and 1970s, Indo-Canadian was an acceptable label. Russell Peters is kinda missing the point about why people immigrate. They want their kids to have a better life but they certainly don't think that means not marry within the culture. In many cases, being part of the diaspora means that you can marry up if you marry and sponsor someone from India. Brown parents want their kids to marry other brown people so that stuff that's inherent to the culture doesn't have to be explained. And preferably of the same language group so that the grandkids have a better chance of learning their language and religion . They say they want their kids to be happy but they themselves would be happier if they married within the culture. Compared to the 1970s or 1980s, there are so many more mixed couples so it's more socially acceptable. They explain it very well in Bend it Like Beckham.
I cant but help have this feeling I know Russel cause I am Canadian. But I don't. However we are proud of his success. I would love to get help from Russell.

I was at a local bar, Sunday night comedy show back in the mid 90's that they used to do. I was a bit tipsy and went up and sort of started to talk to Russell who was part of the lineup. To his credit Russell was pretty cool. Didn't say much and was slightly annoyed, but he just sort of put up with me. His comedy isn't for me, but I'm glad he's a big success.

Kevin are you seeing many or any insects when you're out and about? I'm a scientist from a small town in Canada, and while I have been to many places in the world it is just not possible for me to go everywhere. I issued a challenge a few years ago, and then up'ed the anty and then again, and once on Steam I offered publicly a few years ago one million dollars for current pictures, with a local newspaper showing the date, to anyone who could photograph just 12 different types of insects, and no one was able to do so.
