Thank you Russ, I’ve never felt awkward watching a commercial before until I saw your subway commercial. I felt like I had been kidnapped by Mr. Unliiimited himself and tied up in his house, awoken by the constant chewing as Russ slowly eats his Dangerwich, staring blankly at me like a serial killer asking me random questions and trying to be friendly before I’m made into a lampshade. Creepy.
In fairness, any one of us trying to be on camera delivering a pitch would be cringe. I have a thumb drive that I embedded in epoxy that was the result of a sales training. I do not want the contents of that to surface.
These corny videos show he’s probably a great dad, a great friend and great husband. The problem is when he tries to act hard around teammates who are from the block and then acts too cool to associate with teammates.
He should’ve acted more like Andrew Luck and stayed out of the spotlight and commercials like he did. Andrew had that nerdy personality but didn’t try too hard so everyone respected him around the league. Russell just comes off as fake and annoying.
What a fake. I say that as a 63 year old Seahawks fan since the franchise started. He says what people want to hear. He came to the team modest and humble and went Hollywood. It went to his head. I'm glad he's crapping himself. He was good, but also had great players around him. Lynch, recievers, a great defense (Legion of Boom) Good riddance. And boy did we clean up on that trade! I’m pretty sure people hate him right now because he has a contract far over $100 million and he is playing like he doesn’t care WHILE making “jokes” and goofing around like everything is great. He is one of the highest paid players in the nfl and is performing like a bench player. You can wrap your head around that right?

Sure, extending him before he played a single snap was probably not the smartest thing to do but Russ still demanded to be given such a payday and yet he’s not even trying to give this new team an ROI. I think it was Seattle's Super Bowl loss year, there was more complaints coming from the locker room. Percy Harvin I think during the 2013 season (before the Super Bowl loss) said, "Russell isn't black enough." I never understood what that meant, but I think what Percy was saying is Russell is fake. He carries himself higher than everyone and puts it out there like he's a Saint to the fans/media, while in the locker room not really being that good of a teammate. Marshawn Lynch/Richard Sherman (in Sherman's podcast this year) said to get ahold of Russ you had to go through his manager... you couldn't call him directly. Meanwhile all time QBs like Manning/Brady etc. were giving out their direct #s to everyone. At some point "TEAM 3" because more important than the locker room... he became more about his brand (which I think had some to do with Ciara) while spewing fakery in the press conference. Broncos started off 2-4 with him after he got paid a quarter of a billion and he's "LET'S RIDE" staying all positive? That's not real... that's media BS. And no surprise Hamler, Melvin Gordon, etc. were shooting him glares (there's video of that, but reportedly other players were as well). Look at some of the media trying to get pictures or interviews with him at red carpet events and he ghosts them and puts his hand up to block pictures with his wife.... meanwhile better players/QBs are all fine with it. Wilson is a giant poser. The locker room saw it a while ago... and now with all the stories coming out (by players, coaches, analysts, etc.) fans are just catching up.
Wilson will never even sniff the HoF. He's never received an MVP vote and never will. He's on the downside of a career with average stats and only one SB ring. The only reason he was ever successful was the elite defense around him. Sure he put together a lot of game-winning drives, but that means his team was behind to begin with-not a good look for an "elite" QB. He wants to be a pocket passer but he simply doesn't have the height to be a good one. This is a case of Wilson trying to be something he's not, and failing. When Russ cooks, you get a dumpster fire. That's not someone who gets into the HoF.
