Payton was dissing Russ in Denver the day he showed up because he knew he couldn’t match up with Russ’s character ( note kneecap gate ) and his ego could’t tolerate more than one big dog in town. Happy for Russ with an organization with integrity now.
These backhanded compliments get on my nerves. Act as if Wilson is the only quarterback who asked and got special treatment from Brady to Rogers they all treated differently. They are Super Bowl Champions they deserve to be treated different. Russ can play....it just has to been in situation where a team believes in him
All of the things that russ got in denver was supposed to be for aaron rodgers. Unfortunately people forget that. Russ has never been an asshole. He was surrounded by them
@DeCurtaRican I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not. But they didn't play for denver. I don't know if you're aware of that. And if you want to go that rought. Those guys were 7-8 two years in a row before Russ and Bobby got drafted. And in my opinion. Carol let russ take the blame for that dumb ass SB call all those years. And the team turned on Russ. That's an asshole move. Now move on. Your fan services is no longer needed.
Why do these talking heads push the narrative that Russ was some egotistical guy who had the power in Denver and horrible teammate. Get the facts right not the "fake" stuff. Family guy, humble, Christian.
Cam Sutton and Cory Trice is coming back after the Bye week to improve the Secondary! Frazier is coming back to add to the OL which is surprising playing above expectations after the injury to Daniels and Fautanu.
Man I've been dying to get Cory Trice back. That guy is low key a dawg. I got nothing against Donte but he is kinda a small dude and not as physical as Trice.
THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU GIVE LOSERS A MEGA PHONE AND A PLATFORM.!! So CAN'T HE OR CANTY OR WHATEVER HIS NAME IS ALWAYS SIDING WITH THESE NEGATIVE ENERGY FOLKS TRYING TO MAKE SENDE OUT OF NONSENSE!!!😊😊😮😅😅😊😊😅😮😅😊😊
what is this bs about Russ needing to be put in his place. He had a catchphrase when he went to 2 superbowls. It's always about the performance on the field catchphrase or none.
WHO EVER YO IS SAYING MIKE T NOT A HALL OF FAME COACH DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING BOUT FOOTBALL !!!!! Mike T def a HOF coach never had a losing season 1-1 in SuperBowl CAREER AINT OVER YET probably is insane !
Fields is the future of the Steelers. He is our Franchise QB. Chicago tried to ruin him with their disfunction and multiple regimes from the start. Russ isn't going to play many more years. Fields will develop properly for the first time in his career.
As much as i hate pats take on coach Tomlin as a steeler fan I have to slightly agree. His record as of now as a HC is HOF worthy but as a Steeler fan I'd like to see more from my HC team being always competitive in the post season.
Both Russ and Fields actually. Fields is the long term franchise QB. Russ is the guy for the next 2-3 years before he retires. Fields will be better than Big Ben, book it.
@@Wicked_RotF30: If JF can wait that long, and the Steelers will have to skew him the highest paid backup in NFL history to get him to wait. I’m thinking in the $28M per year range. Russ will have to take discounts, which he might be willing to do. If he’s willing to accept $40M per year, they can afford both QBs.
Last year all these sports analysts had a different kind of energy when it came to Russ. Now look at what’s going on. Russ just wanted to get the hell out of Denver and away from Sean Payton
Yall are still wrong about Russ!!! Russ is arguably a 2X maybe 3X SB winner??? The debacle with the pass that gave Brady an extra SB & the timeout that gave the extra kick the year prior to their SB win?😳😳💯
CC I find it interesting that you criticize mainstream America for their judgement of Coach Tomlin and RW3, yet you believe RW3 has more to do to get into the HoF. Please have your researchers examine the career of RW3. I'll leave you with two main stats: 1) there are about 14 QBs who have thrown for 300 TDs or more in the history of the league. Only two (AR8 and RW3) in doing so threw for fewer than 100 INTs (note: compare the number of pass attempts in took for those QBs to get to 300 TDs).They are also the ONLY two with career passer ratings over 100. RW3 is also in the top 5 rushing QBs in NFL history; he is 1 of 3 QBs that have a career 100 passer rating. He is the ONLY QB to have thrown for over 40,000 yards and rushed for over 5,000 yards. That has to be HoF.
There’s even more to it than that! One metric correlates with first-ballot HoF prospects more than any other single metric: CAREER 4TH QUARTER PASSER RATING. Since 1993, every QB with a CAREER 4th QUARTER PASSER RATING of 98 or higher has become a first-ballot HoF QB. We are talking career 4th quarter passer rating, not career passer rating. In other surfs, the great ones are the most clutch ones, and the stats bear that out. The only positive outlier, i.e., a QB who satisfies the career 98+ 4th quarter passer rating but does not otherwise meet HoF standards, is Teddy Bridgewater with a 99. The only negative outlier, i.e., a QB with a career 4th quarter passer rating lower than 98 who otherwise meets HoF criteria, is Brett Favre, who is indeed in the HoF. Until 2022, Russ was leading the pack with a career 105 4th quarter passer rating. Aaron Rodgers was second with a 102 career 4th quarter passer rating. Once Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson became eligible - after the 2022 season - they surpassed Russ, who dropped to a close third place after a horrid season under Nathaniel Hackett. Russ likely improved his position to surpass DWat again after leading the league in 2023 in 4th quarter performances, including being #1 in both 4th quarter comebacks and game-winning drives. Russ will soon take back his throne from Mahomes as well, if he hasn’t already, because Russ is the most clutch QB in the league. Bottom line, given this metric and trends, and Russ’s other achievements, e.g., bring the second-winningest QB if the 2010s decade despite only playing for 8 seasons in that decade, if you keep Russ out, you had better make a strong case that he’s Teddy Bridgewater or something will be rotten in Denmark, to quote Hamlet.
*HERE ARE SOME INTERESTING FACTS* JF is 25. Everyone keeps talking like this is an advantage, but the trend analysis below says otherwise: Over the past 24 years, do you know how many QBs age 25 or younger have won SBs? Just 4! Brady (24) Rothlisberger (23) Russ (25) Mahomes (24) That’s it, and only Russ and Mahomes have done it over the last decade. Since 2000, only 8 QBs have won SBs before age 30, and only 3 of those (Russ, Foles, and Mahomes) won SBs in the last decade. If we want to include Flacco from 2012, that’s 4: Brady Rothlisberger Dilfer* Rodgers Flacco** Russ Foles* Mahomes *Not a HoF QB **Borderline HoF QB (depending) Three of the four guys under age 30 who have won SBs since 2012 were either HoF QBs (Russ, Mahomes) or borderline HoF QBs (Flacco) and all showed it early in their careers. They didn’t need 3-4 years. *PEOPLE HAVE FORGOTTEN HOW SPECIAL RUSS WAS FROM DAY 1* Russ walked into a team that had gone 7-9 in back-to-back seasons in the two years before he was drafted (with the LoB and Marshawn Lynch) and nearly led that same squad to the SB as a true rookie. He then led that squad to back-to-back SBs in the two seasons that followed. *For the record, there’s a particular metric showing that Russ gets in the HoF no matter what he does going forward: Career 4th Quarter Passer Rating. Read my diatribe on that in the other post.* *UNDERSTAND THE TREND* Each of the QBs who didn’t win at least one SB by age 25 was at least 27 years old by the time they did. This means Dilfer, Rodgers, Flacco, and Foles were all 27 or older when they won their SBs. Again, two of those age 27+ guys are basically HoF QBs, and the other two had completely loaded teams. Guys 25 and younger don’t win SBs unless they are truly special, which Russ was and is. Guys rarely win before age 30, and almost all of those who do are on a HoF track when they do it. Those who aren’t future HoFers (e.g., Dilfer and Foles) have completely loaded teams and HoF caliber coaches! Trends matter, people. How likely is Justin Fields to be that guy given the trend? He has had three miserable seasons in Chicago and is not on a HoF trajectory. *BETTER YOUNG QBs HAVEN’T WON SBs* Better QBs…absolute NFL-Ready studs…have come into the league and failed to win SBs by age 25 and likely won’t by age 30 either…QBs who projected better than JF: Andrew Luck (retired prematurely) Trevor Lawrence (over-projected) Robert Griffin III (retired) Josh Allen (???) Deshaun Watson (finished?) Carson Wentz (shares with Foles)* Jameis Winston (over-projected) Jared Goff (played in a SB but lost) Jalen Hurts (fumbled away a SB) Kyler Murray (not a leader) Baker Mayfield (holding his own) Sam Darnold (putting it together) Dak was a 4th rounder, so his projection wasn’t like the others. Those guys were/are all better than JF and, aside from Goff, haven’t played in a SB let alone won one. Yet, delusional Steelers fans think JF will get them a SB this year or next year with the O-Line and WR deficiencies the Steelers have. It’s not going to happen that soon, if it ever does. JF can become Geno Smith or Sam Darnold, but that’s going to take some time. If the Steelers and Steelers fans are looking to win now, Russ is the QB to get them there, and that’s only if they fix that O-Line. Russ will develop a WR for himself! *RUSS HAS WON A SB WITH A TEAM LIKE THIS BEFORE WHILE PLAYING IN THE EXACT SAME OFFENSE* Unlike Mahomes and other QBs, Russ has proven that he doesn’t need superstar receivers. He just needs disciplined receivers with good hands who run crisp routes and will extend those routes when plays break down. That’s it. That encapsulates what Russ had while in Seattle. He made DK into a superstar and then left when DK was blowing up. Tyler Locket is great but unlikely to be a HoF WR. S. Rice B. Obamanu D. Baldwin T. Lockett G. Tate J. Kearse D. Moore R. Lockette P. Richardson L. Willson (TE) Z. Miller (TE) J. Graham (TE, past his prime) Josh Gordon (a few games) Josh Gordon had Jerry Rice ability but Ricky Williams discipline. Russ threw the ball to mostly nobodies and had high-level success. That isn’t to impugn the likes of Baldwin, Lockett, Kearse, Tate, DK, Jimmy Graham, and the others, but Russ made miracles happen, and he didn’t have the weapons other QBs have had. That ability hasn’t gone anywhere. He was #1 in both 4th quarter comebacks and game-winning drives in 2023 with a busted Broncos squad. The fans who know his FULL history and understand football know what happened in Denver and know that he should be QB1 in Pittsburgh.
Russ was always meant to be the starter, and for a lot of reasons. I’ve posted this in other threads, but i want to remind people that the trends over the last quarter-century were always against JF taking this team away from Russ, let alone leading the team anywhere but to a disappointing finish. That’s not a knickers on JF. I like him as a player and a person. He has shown a lot of class. Having said that.. *HERE ARE SOME INTERESTING FACTS* JF is 25. Steelers love both Russ and Fields! Fields is the long-term QB of Steelers Future. Russ is the here and now. Fields will learn from Russ behind the scenes and carry the torch for the Steelers for 15+years! Bears regimes did not properly develop Fields as they should have. Now Fields will get the proper development so he can thrive in the future for the Steelers as QB1 as the Franchise QB and he will go down as the best QB in Steelers history!
Fields is the long-term franchise QB of the Steelers. Fields is the guy the Steelers needed. They just need to develop him and undo the damage done by Chicago. Russ is great for the immediate future.
@@Wicked_RotF30: Russ still has 3-5 years left in him, but the temptation will be to push Russ out the door, especially if he wins a ring this year. Repeating is hard to do, especially when no one outside of Pittsburgh except Steelers fans living in other cities wants Russ and Tomlin to win a ring together anyway. Fans will be satisfied to go another direction if the Steelers get a ring this year, and Russ coming in for one year, winning and leaving the keys to Justin Fields would be such a flex! Russ might even be intrigued by the prospect of becoming the first QB in NFL history to win SB titles with three separate teams, so don’t be surprised if Russ is the one giving the Steelers the boot, especially if Brock Purdy begins to resemble Jimmy G. If that happens, Russ will be in San Francisco in a heartbeat. And what if Geno wears out his welcome in Seattle as beloved as he is? The Seahawks might want Russ back on a 2-3 year deal while they develop their QBOTF. It would be storybook to see him win a ring in Pittsburgh and go home to reunite with DK and Lockett, potentially lead that squad to a SB, and then retire with three rings under three different head coaches. He will be GOATED!
Mike Tomlin has gone to the playoffs and had non losing seasons with a duck hunter, a second day statue at qb, and a first round, “thinks he’s mobile but really isn’t”, noodle arm of a qb.
This is for those commenters on wanting Tomlin out as well.....just know more than half of the league will pick him up quicker than a person seeing money on the ground rather its for HC or DC.........
That was a great take. I appreciate every word cuz it was 100% true. The Rooney family. Mike Tomlin go hand in hand and they do and I mean as coach Tomlin he do need to win more playoff games and two more super bowls and I believe he can do it LET'S GO PITTSBURGH STEELERS
Fields is the long-term franchise QB for the Steelers. He is young and they have to undo the damage done to him by multiple Chicago regimes who were stuck in not trying to develop him properly. Fields will go down as the greatest qb in Steeler history.
Another thing too the ones that say mike t should be fired is a joke dudes a great coach and all the above.... not perfect but who is i love tomlin and the way the steelers are looking
Fields is the franchise QB of the future. He was in a dysfunctional organization before with no proper help, Steelers won't let him leave the room. Russ will be the guy for the next 2-3 years while Fields learns properly.
I am a SteelerNation “Ride or Die” since 1974…MYSteelerNation I literally DO NOT like Wilson ( better than THAT his WIFE..although I have NEVER engaged with them on a personal level and they do not know of my existence in this life time)… I honestly do not know what it is🔨…therefore I MUST continue to “Ride” because players come and go and Coach Tomlin is my ❤️🔨💯🖤💛🖤💛Wilson’s body language states ULTIMATE Ego or maybe it is his Wife… that is it !!! his WIFE… just saying from a clinical psychologist point of view just by reading body language… STILL I RIDE 🖤💛🖤💛and listen up …ppl may say the same about me … just keeping it real🖤💛🖤💛
Do these guys forgot that Mike Tomlin was handed a Super Bowl winning team and a awesome organization the other coaches didn't get that my Tomlin is overrated for sure I'm a die-hard Steeler fan and Tomlin is A good coach
Oh give me a break…. Tomlin sounds way smarter than he actually is… his time management and replay challenges are absolutely horrid…. Win a damn playoff game without a franchise QB how about that….
The defense gets to rest, OC didn't call the same plays for fields. Mediocre Mike has a winning record n has under achieved. You don't get 🏆 for winning seasons just Superbowls
Tomlin has NEVER had a losing season EVER LMAO he is no doubt a hall of fame. His best QB was a poor man's Brett Farve and an old russ LOL stop it !!! He is HOF 1000% NOBODY had had a winning season EVER season for this long lmao 😊
@@landonsmith4871271 yards passing a game vs. 184 for Fields. Even the backup Allen throws for 250 when he starts. 4 years later and Fields still needs to develop. I guess the O line is better for Wilson and now he has more weapons. 😂
@@landonsmith4871Hopefully Fields is learning while standing on the sidelines. He learned some things while watching Bagent last year and looks slightly improved, so keep him on the bench where he can develop like Jordan Love did.
This girl doesn't know anything what did Mike Tomlin do with those quarterbacks nothing... when you have a winning team for so many years but can't win in the playoffs that means your mediocre and not a good coach
Ask belichick what's it like when you lose your franchise qb. Mike hasn't had one for about 7 years now and never have the steelers loss the way new england has over the years. All those qbs he had are riding the bench in other places. Do you really recognize an excellent coach when you see one or are you blinded by something else?
How funny is it gonna be when sh!t falls apart in Denver because Sean Payton begins to panic as Russ wins more, steps over the line with the wrong player and gets handled?
Next week they are on a bye. And coming off a bye vs the commanders pshhhh. It wont look pretty, but a W they most likely they will get. Why, Mike Tomlin is why.
After byes Mike t record is really good when he has 2 weeks to prepare I fill sorry for Washington for that alone and we will get healthy and maybe a wr trade before the deadline.
@@deetony211 the team is winning the same way. A lot of field goals great special teams and good defense! JF put up 30 the week before Russ started. We were getting better in the red zone with Justin! It’s so many small things yall don’t understand. It’s the same but less explosive and tricky at the goal line.
@@darrenanthony8473 they scored 30 the week before Russ. Pickens dropped a TD. That week as well. From the 40 yrs line in. He can make that throw. He gone get picked after the bye. Bc now it’s enough tape.
I will concede that Mike Tomlin has never had a losing season. That is remarkable. The goal however, is not winning seasons the goal is putting Lombardi trophies in the case. You have to agree. Our playoff record has been abysmal at best .this year things look good ,defense is great as usual, and the office is starting to cook, maybe this year things get turned around. Been a fan for over 50 years,HERE WE GO STEELERS!
Oh yeah? Try telling that to the Panthers, Lions, Browns, Bears, Giants, Jets, Texans, Jags, and Commanders, because every one of those teams would’ve traded places with the Steelers in a heartbeat over the last decade and a half, and the Panthers played in a SB!
