Russia’s New Stealth Bomber - PAK DA

Since 2009, the Tupolev Design Bureau has been hard at work with PAK DA, a Russian-made new-generation strategic bomber.
The aircraft will be a large platform complete with radar absorbing materials for stealth technology, capable of carrying over 30 tonnes of nuclear ordnance and flying at subsonic flight speeds.
According to the established timeframe, the aircraft will align with the emergence of the United States' B-21 stealth bomber, its design counterpart.
However, with a lousy record in stealth technology, many believe the upcoming program is just another vanity project for Russia and question whether the Tupolev PAK DA Prospective aviation complex for long-range aviation could rival the American B-21.
It might take another decade to find out, but the evidence points toward a revolutionary concept that might surprise the entire world.
That is, if it even exists…

So, just to get this straight: The B-21 is in the works since 2015 and still hasn't flown. It is being developed by the same folks, that already build the B-2, so it is fairly safe to assume, they know what they are doing and they also know a thing or two about stealth tech. And now, here are the Russians. Total stealth aircraft in service: 0. Total stealth aircraft flown: 0. Total stealth aircraft designed: 0. And they claim they design, build, fly, test, mass-produce and deliver a complete stealth bomber weapons system in the same 7 years, it took Northrop Grumman from the start of the B-21 Project to now, which arguably did not yield a mass-produced stealth bomber weapon system yet? No way Russia will pull this off. Same goes for stealth-defying radar. Since 25 years, there have been various rumors about radar systems capable of detecting stealth planes, but noone has fielded any system. Germany has an experimental system, which is rumored to be capable of detecting a F-35. But this project cooperates heavily with the US military and it is a safe bet, any results will be shared and scrutinized together, allowing improvments to the stealth capabilities. And do not forget: Germany is going to buy F-35s - which we clearly would not do, if there is proof of its stealth capabilities being useless. The US has managed to maintain its lead in stealth tech for several decades and I see no indication of that changing anytime soon. Remember, a weapons platform needs to be fielded, operated, maintained and used to full effect. Making a funny drawing on a napkin does not count.

I've always wondered, if you're unable to produce stealth aircraft then how do you produce a radar to detect stealth aircraft
@CausticLemons7
@CausticLemons7 Год назад
@@loucyphers_nightmare Stealth is not invisibility or being totally undetectable. More often it's about making it difficult for the enemy to accurately target you. Those big radar arrays can probably see almost anything in the air, but the narrow band radar used for things like missile lock-on are where stealth comes into play. You might know there's a stealth jet somewhere in the area but if you can't pinpoint the aircraft then you can't shoot it.

Makes me wonder why we are putting so much money into expensive stealth aircraft with a short lifespan, while we are still flying the B-52. That is anything but stealth. Now grandchildren of retired B-52 pilots are flying those machines. My feeling is that getting close enough to the target and letting loose with cruise missiles and then head home. I wish this money was spent on good things, like zero-point energy, anti-grav aircraft, increased production of food, research into better battery technology to elevate the need for slave labor to dig for rare earth material. The trillions of dollars spent could have been used to develop much safer and better passenger aircraft, more passenger railroads to major cities, etc. We just spend money to kill people.
@virtualinfinity6280
@virtualinfinity6280 Год назад
@@bondgabebond4907 Actually it is quite simple: Planes, like the B-2/B-21, F-35 and so on are initial deep-strike weapons. Their primary objective is, to go in first, go in deep and knock out air defenses. Once that is done, it is FAR more economical to send a heavy-lift-monster like the B-52, which is comparatively cheap to operate and either use standoff wepaons or masses of freefall bombs to deal damage. In short. B-52's are cheap and carry loads of stuff. Once the stealth weapon system have cleared enemy air-defenses, they can go in. Likewise, active air defense countermeasures have also come a long way. A modernized B-52 is quite capable in defeating enemy air-defense attacks. It makes absolute sense to keep the B-52s in service. But I am totally wiht you in thinking, that these weapons are a waste of time an effort. Unfortunately, they are required in a world full of Putins, Xis and Trumps.

I agree with a lot of the comments on the idea of the stealth bomber, as well as the down falls of the SU-57 Felon, and as far as using 4th generation engine's, they try to get their engine's from China, as the Chinese engine's have far more better performance versus the Russian engines. It also goes to all of the loss of equipment in Ukraine, as Russia has lost one third of it's military in the war with Ukraine, not to mention it's command staff, so the idea of producing a large stealth bomber at this point is beyond incompetent...

And regular hit to kill projectile that can actually hit the warhead should be capable of disabling any implosion type bomb (like all of em since the 60s and certainly anything shoved on smaller modern delivery vehicles will be as well). To get a nuclear detonation in implosion type bombs the shockwave from the conventional explosive shaped into lenses (extremely precise and being hit will change it's performance) needs to converge on the pit extremely symmetrically if it's off by just 5% it'll just blow it apart and spread some highly radioactive core material around but not actually achieve a nuclear/thermonuclear detonation.

🤔 Might've been better suited for the _Paper Skies_ channel.... lol As just because there was a physical model made, doesn't mean it's exists, *even on paper* for that matter! After all, we already know how far Russia likes to stretch the truthfulness of their words... 😏 We'd call something a rubberband, whereas Russia would call it an "advanced, synthetic, reusable, high-energy storage device" 😂

Russia is trying to keep up with the US, but the US spends orders of magnitude more on defense and has done so for many, many years. And they certainly don't want another Concordski on their hands.

164,000 feet ??? Really??? I read a book written by English Electric Lightning pilots, were one pilot mentioned conducting intercepts on an American bomber at 100,000 feet, but he said the bomber climbed to 120,000 feet and he could not reach it??? I know of no American bomber that can fly that high, at least officially. Is this pilot lying or could this be real, not to mention that it was the 1960 or 1970, i can't remember when.

At 164,000 feet altitude, mach 1 is approximately 25 nts (30 mph). Since the plane is subsonic, it must have a stall speed lower than that. -not likely

It should be invisible to most radars? Does anyone really think the US would put out stealth aircraft without the ability to clearly see them. Yes, we know our stealth aircraft can't be seen by other nations radars. But our military is also smart enough to know if they can't see them, we might not be able to either. I would bet a paycheck we have advanced our radar capability to easily see past stealth.

"if it even exists" I guess it's not "Russia's New Stealth Super Bomber" If something is in development then it's not a new product. What can be said is 6 B-21s are being built right now for that complete flight testing phase where the last issues are worked out. So, it's GOING to be a product. Flight testing starts next year. The US is too far down the path for the F-21 for something else to take its place. This product will probably start flight testing 2024 - 2025. However, Russia is going to have problems getting some parts so they have to change up the supply chain for part of this aircraft which probably means moving to more of the parts coming from China. I'm not saying whether that's a good or bad thing but it probably delays the aircraft. Russia usually relies on aircraft being sold to help fund their programs and because the US has a lot more experience in building both stealth and fly by wire I'd say it won't be so easy for them to sell this. On top of that having to switch around their supply chains and probably relying more on Chinese manufacturing does more to assist in their Chinese stealth bomber program. If anything I think the sales would go to either the B-21 or the Xian H20. It's going to be harder and harder for the Russian to fund their programs because of Chinese technology which is going to improve at a rate faster than the Russian's.

Here´s the thing. Consider what each stealth airplane project cost the US. Each single one was a gigantic project with enormous costs associated with it. And that is with the US and the participating companies having experience in the field of stealth airplanes. Now take a look at Russia. They´re heavily reliant on arms sales to even fund their projects. They have nearly no experience to draw from and their manufacturing capabilities are desolate. So how is a state, which has the average GDP of Texas, supposed to do what took the US an obscene amount of money with but a fraction of the associated development costs and no international partners? Because lets face it, if Russia was to try and produce such an airplane, they´d need partners and/or buyers. And a lot of them. So there´s no way this thing stays hidden for so long when potential buyers/partners would require a tech demonstration at least halfway along the way. Russia is not capable of pulling off an F22 kind of endeveour where a huge chunk of money gets blown on a project which then gets slapped with an export ban and all the cost needs to be paid in full by the taxpayer. So yeah, the only advanced weapons i believe the russians are capable of producing are any types of balistic missiles. Anything beyond that they know they lack the resources in personel, training and maintenance capability to effectively utilize on the battlefield. They wanna hide beyond this masquerade of a potential missile threat and some obscure high tech weapon systems which they wanna make the world believe they have stockpiled in some hidden facility.

Good thing about modern Russian military hardware is that it's only built for military parades and the like. When they fielded some of the advanced systems they actually have in service, they failed miserably in Ukraine.
