Buildings that were built back in the Stalin's era are still considered the best quality. As a matter of fact, they cost more than newly built apartments, because of high ceilings (3-4 meters), good looking facads, thick brick walls and location.
@madcat789
@madcat789 3 года назад
On that I can agree.
@Dude0000

They were built to a set plan by the 10’s of thousands housing millions. However, the people who built them weren’t well paid and the materials that was needed were basically slave labour camps aka GULAGs. That’s what is not shown as it wasn’t known until after Stalin died.
@evawind
@evawind 2 года назад
@@Dude0000 I bet you don't even have an idea of what we are talking here about ;). Judging by your use of "gulags" in the context of the discussion you have very little idea of how the Soviet Union functioned. BTW, some of the high quality buildings were indeed built with the help of cheap labor -- German POWs ;).
@Markov092
@Markov092 2 года назад
Not entirely. Stalin's era buildings (Staļinkas) were more detailed, as Stalin's architecture had classicism and art-deco to them, but many residential buildings were quite primitive compared to later Khrushchevkas. They had higher ceilings because many Stalinkas were communal and to gain more space for air, they raised ceilings not lower than 3 meters to increase space. Not all walls were thick and brick, inner walls between rooms and floors were wooden and, ones made during rapid urbanization, had leftover materials in those walls.

what a terrible lie. especially about slums for workers. millions of workers received new, comfortable housing for free. but after two wars destroyed 90 percent of homes and factories, it is not easy to build millions of homes overnight. and people, regardless of the state, received new housing, but not all at once. but this is not shown. also about the village. show how many modern collective farms with modern technology in the ussr! but no, you have to find the worst, show and say that this is the case everywhere and people believe. the more terrible the lie, the more they believe in it ... I especially amused about the study of communism in pioneer camps for children. complete nonsense. I myself personally vacationed every year in the summer camp and never studied communism there. there they read children's books about the adventures of heroes, about friendship and about first love. they danced, they sang, they played, they watched movies - but they never studied communism. And there is no need to show volunteers who do not have construction professions who, in their free time, built housing for themselves using government materials and equipment. yes, they are not very good at building, but they will soon get their new housing. 5 years after a terrible war surrounded by enemy states and sanctions on everything. and the country survived and these houses are still standing and have not collapsed as the announcer says after 3 years. show in what slums American or English workers live. shame on the propaganda of capitalism.
