Officials in Russia are scrambling to help people displaced by floods as water levels continue to rise in the Ural River, near the border with Kazakhstan.
Flooding in the Orenburg region started after a dam collapsed on Saturday, leading to the evacuation of thousands of people.
Officials say the river’s water level surpassed 10 metres in the city of Orenburg, prompting the Russian government to declare a federal emergency.
The flooding in Orenburg is being described as the worst the region has seen in nearly a century.
