A lot of people blame the war on Ukraine, saying that if they never desired to join NATO, Russia wouldn't have attacked. Maybe they are right. In this video, we explore why.

It’s one of putin’s lie. The same as denazification, demilitarization etc. One question which broke all reasons that putin said: “Why russia annexed 5 Ukrainian’s regions and wrote them down in it’s own constitution?”. It’s breaking international law, doesn’t it? Russia always fought for the new territories. Always. Just look at the map or open Wikipedia and check count of the last conflicts. As a Finnish guy who has lived in Sweden for nearly a decade i can confirm that joining NATO was not on the agenda of either country before Russia invaded Ukraine. But soon after that our leaders decided that we must join NATO for protection against possible future Russian aggression. And Finland basicly speedran through the joining process in record time. It took a lot longer for Sweden because of Turkey and Hungary. But yeah thanks to Russia NATO has 2 new members and more maybe on the way in the future. Stay safe out there Johnny.

And it was definately no show since not all the NATO countries see eye to eye in some things. Hungarys prime minister is a Putin lover and Turkeys president has his own agendas. Great segment. Ukraine was always interested in the EU for economic opportunities. The whole Yugoslavia, Kosovo, Bosnia, Serbia conflict was disastrous. Europe was in shock while humanitarian war crimes were happening much like the Holocaust. That's why America and NATO got involved. We are seeing it again in Ukraine. Taiwan has been trading partners and a friendly nation with America for a long time. The CCP aggression in the region is downright bullying. If the CCP just let Hong Kong continue doing what they have been doing for a century, then international business would continue to thrive. My understanding is that international businesses are shying away from Hong Kong now do the CCP.

5:15 NATO is solely a defensive military alliance and NATO can authorize use of force only if a member state is under attack. Which didn't happen in 1995, nor in 1999. In case of Yugoslavia and bombing in 1999 the UN Security Council could have ordered the use of force but it didn't happen because Russia and China would have been against it and you need approval from all 5 permanent members.

@@ip5430Oh good man, don't lie intentionally or unintentionally if you aren't familiar with the issue. It is named Memorandum but is officially registered in UN as a treaty. So, legally it's a treaty. Furthermore, it's issued in four equal versions and in both Ukrainian and Russian it's named as "guarantees" not "assurances". Technically speaking, Russia violated this international treaty (let's have another signed?). Moreover, US and UK must've introduce their armed forces to defend Ukraine and support Ukraine's sovereignty and integrity. Legally, Ukraine may suit both US and UK for not providing adequate support. Not to mention Russia. Formulation of this Memorandum is very similar to article 5 of NATO. Funny enough 😊

I will say otherwise. Until 2014, the majority of Ukrainians were against joining NATO, because they did not understand why they needed it and who could attack them. From the Ukrainian point of view, we were already in nato before. To be more precise we had damn nuclear warheads and the most modern nuclear airplane in the world (still no better) but the Americans came and started pushing us to disarmament, supporting the idea of Russia. They ordered us to cut our powerful aviation to metal and put it on the open field that would fix the fact from the satellite, even the planes that were released in the same year we had to cut otherwise we were threatened with economic blockade, and the other part to give to Russia from these planes we are now being killed. And when Ukraine asked the US to help, we said that we gave you everything we had (our forces, nuclear arsenal), we could have destroyed half the world with this arsenal, but we got rid of it to live in peace and made the first step to this peace. For this we got talks about how many millions of liters of Ukrainian blood should be spilled so that the rest of the world could sleep peacefully, or suddenly escalate. We were even forbidden to destroy the airports where those damn OUR airplanes were stored in Russia, because damn EXCALATION. And if we hadn't given up our nukes? Do you think we'd be bombed now? I'm sure the whole world would be afraid of us and respect us and say don't excalate in front of Ukraine, or it might not like it. So there's only one lesson for us. Paper with treaties is worth nothing, it's toilet paper. Only the power to destroy our neighbors is valuable. PS: Yes, I realize that Ukrainians are fools themselves for agreeing to this offer. But we lived in a Soviet dictatorship and our leaders were Soviet clerks. Unfortunately, our society is still learning. PS2: Perhaps instead of talking we should have launched a nuclear weapon somewhere in neutral waters and then we would have been offered better terms instead of this crap we got.

Russia knew that Ukraine was making repeated requests for consideration to join NATO before 2014. I think that it is disingenuous to suggest the 2014 attack on Crimea was the catalyst for inspiring Ukraine to join NATO. It may have increased public support for joining NATO, but that is not what drove Russia to invade. Russia warned Ukraine not to even attempt to join NATO. Fair enough. Russia didnt want NATO on its doorstep. In reverse, no NATO country would allow any of its super-power enemies, to camp on ITS doorstep.

Hey John, that’s really strange what you’re talking about how come you did not bring up the Minsk agreements do you know that the Minsk agreements was just a sham to build up an army in the Ukraine to overthrow Russia? Pretty much NATO really is the United States and the reason why Russia invaded the Ukraine is number one correct they wanted a gas pipeline that can run through the Ukraine, but that would also mean that NATO would be on Russia’s doorstep. Russia talked about the NATO expansion on its border, many many times which is technically the United States Pretty much this war is really the United States trying to topple Russia, but it will not work the United States NATO. North America is falling apart because of this stupid war that the United States has spent billions of dollars where they should be investing that money on people in North America not giving that idiot Zielenski billions of dollars so that Ukrainian army can go and die for the United States of America on a endless war they will not win . All you have to do now is find out in the dictionary what an “Agreement” is and what a negotiation protocol is. The Minsk “Agreements” exist only on Russian TV channels. What Ukraine signed was a standard protocol. Which is signed at regular meetings. This protocol confirmed that at the meeting Russia demanded capitulation from Ukraine and Ukraine’s signature means that Ukraine confirmed that exactly these demands were made at the meeting and not, for example, for everyone to get together and go to a restaurant. But this signature does not mean that Ukraine agreed. There is also a second part of the “Agreements” where Ukraine has put forward its conditions for negotiations and Russia has signed them too. This signature on both sides certifies the topic and essence of the negotiations and not the decision on them.
@vladkudrya9615
@vladkudrya9615 28 дней назад
In such meetings, it is a standard procedure for both parties to sign the minutes of the meeting and what was discussed in these meetings. The goal is that one of the parties does not later change the essence of the negotiations and cannot renege on their words.

I respect you and your opinion, but I disagree for the following reasons. I was serving in West Germany when we, the US and NATO, promised that if West Germany and East Germany could unite, NATO would not expand to the east. This was important because we had treaties in place limiting the range of our land-based missiles to 500 kilometers. NATO violated that promise with each new nation that joined the NATO “defensive alliance”. Each country that continues to join NATO, is another 100, 200 or more kilometers closer NATO’s missiles get to Russia, who happens to be a freakin nuclear power. Why was it necessary for ANY of the countries that joined NATO after 1989 to join? It wasn’t necessary. Ukraine is the victim in this power struggle between the US and Russia. Further, after this conflict is over, watch what Blackrock and the other western oligarchs do to the Ukrainian people. You should look up the term REIT (Real Estate Investment Trust). They are going to do everything in their power to “legally” evict every Ukrainian from the apartments they received after the Soviet Union dissolved. It will be shameful what will happen.

1987: On December 8th, Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev signed the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty. The treaty was the first in which the United States and Soviet Union agreed to eliminate a weapons class and reduce the number of weapons in their nuclear stockpile.
@dannyallen4357
@dannyallen4357 21 день назад
The INF Treaty that I just made reference to, limited the distance land based missiles could travel to 500 kilometers. I was actually a very small part of our forces compliance with this treaty during the summer of 1988. I helped cut the launch structures in half. Nothing secret or special, but I was there. Yes, I am old. lol. I am now 56 years old.
@dannyallen4357
@dannyallen4357 21 день назад
Second, regarding the evictions that I believe will happen, the playbook is happening now here in the US. Investors buy cheap properties here (for example a trailer park) make small investments in the “commons area”, charge a monthly fee for the “commons area” maintenance, and slowly increase the fee each year. If you don’t pay the fee, they take you to court and obtain a lien, then evict.
@dannyallen4357
@dannyallen4357 21 день назад
I believe this playbook will happen in Ukraine with all those Soviet era apartments that were given to the residents when the government collapsed. "we break down why these trolls might be correct" great intro mate. This has been a debate in foreign policy going all the way back to the early 2000's. It's a fact that the US had intentions to bring Ukraine to it's own side and I personally think they failed to look at their own mistakes regarding Georgia in respects to their strategy. World Powers will always compete and protect their own interests and with this frame of mind it's easy to understand what led to the escalation from both perspectives.

Since the turn of the 21st century, things have really changed, got far more complicated. Promises don't mean much, or as much, as they once did. So much for "guarantees" of safety, national security when one country cannot abide by what that promised. Hopefully this comment is generic enough to stay put. The people of Ukraine deserve to live, in peace, and in a whole country.

Let's leave my situation simply at that because that is the root of my problem. God Bless you and everyone in the Ukraine 🇺🇦 and Israel 🇮🇱. I love ❤️ some Russians so please understand that as well. The Wars have to stop as soon as possible with no one suffering in the process to a large extinct. I have to move and hopefully prior to September 12th. Also, I feel like you're not addressing the fact, or just being up front about that many people in the Donbas are pro Russian and saw Maidan as a coup. No one wants a non independent Ukraine . In my opinion, it’s one of the best countries in the world . The reason of this war was clear : to get rid of the actual Ukrainian government and make Ukraine a satellite state . However , the expansion of NATO during the 90s and the first decade of the XXI century was also a reason. I support the idea that in International relations there’s no “black and white conclusions “ : there’s a huge plethora of reasons, interests and conflicts . During the 1999 NATO expansion even George Kenan ( former Secretary of State ) warned everyone about the risk ( New York Times article , 1997). We should be speaking about how we will reach peace and the future relations with Russia ( cause even if Russia is defeated , we will have a Russian state and a Russian president : Russians will not disappear and the relationship of this country with their neighbors will be determined by the resolution of the security scheme in Eurasia. I just wish the best for my loved Ukraine , which I’ll visit again in winter. We need , as Kissinger said , “ actions from statesman, durable and effective, guaranteeing and protecting “.

Before 2014 my family said its a big joke about joining NATO, like... "wtf, we dont need that, stupid idea and noone cares about NATO in our country." Now we obviously understand that its not stupid idea. I think we just wanted to be like a Swiss. Absolute neutral country. But... russian can't imagine their existance without their "father" Ukraine, who just created them. Exactly Ukrainian ancestors sent civilization to russian lands in Middle Ages, exactly Ukrainian politician influenced in russian empire creation, exactly Ukraine shared with russia their country name "Russia", because "Rus" is exactly an ancient Ukrainian country name, that translated in Greek - "Rossia", exactly how "Russia" is pronounced in Cyrillic. And because of many many lies by russia for couple of centuries, they can't imagine their existence without whom they based their lies on, otherwise noone will understand what their country is based on - no own culture, no own language(russian language were created in Kyiv based on Slavic Bulgarian language), no own history(the main history chronology is based on Ukraine, they ignore the history of lands they are owning today, they prefer talking about Ukrainian history that they appropriating to themselves)

Russia invaded Ukraine because Russia wants to return all former USSR republics into some kind of "federation" or "union". Putin had this plan from the very start - from when he became the president. In some countries they plan to achieve it peacefully - e.g. Belarusian dictator Lukashenko makes sure Belarus is aligned with Russia in all questions (culture, traditions, language, history textbooks, same heroes, etc). Belarusian opposition and patriots are forced to flee their country and country is slowly transformed into small copy of Russia and will be integrated into Russia. In Ukraine this scheme will not work. They planned to federalise Ukraine and to keep it in Russian orbit under the threat of partitioning. Ukraininas obviously do not want it. When Russia started aggression in 2014 it became obvious that to survive Ukraine should rely on NATO countries. When Russia failed to take half of Ukraine under control in 2014 in a proxy way it became obvious there will be a full-scale invasion in future.
