I will be traveling to St. Petersburg for the first time next month. I know you live in a different part of Russia, but I have been binge watching your videos since discovering your channel yesterday and they have been so informative. Thank you, my man!
🙏🏻please do join our telegram and share any cool stories of your travels when you go! thanks so much for following our channel! I hope to continue making things to inform people. older videos have gone into topics which would probably help you too. I do a little bit of everything
The biggest danger is that you will never want to leave. I went to St. Petersburg for a month-long certification course; ended up spending five years there. Truly amazing country.
Privet! I am new to your channel. I have always been captivated by Russia. I am very surprised at the prices of goods in Russia. Also how everything is so clean! Looking forward to more videos from y'all. Have a great day. Spasibo. 😎
I wish more Americans could come to settle down in Russia. I' ve lived in the US for 5 years and found Americans to be very similar to Russians in a lot of ways, hard-working, open-minded, resilient and fun. A lot of Americans would be so much happier here in Russia in a less hectic and financially challenging environment. Russia is all about inner balance and happiness rather than career and competition. I am longing for the day when Russia is portrayed fairly from the world's perspective.
Ну уж нет, пусть живут дома и наводят порядок в своей стране.... Всюду, где появляются американцы, они начинают устанавливать свои законы, они не способны интегрироваться в любой стране. Я бы не хотела разгула их дерьмократии в моей стране.....
@@Wild-Siberia We USED to be very similar but the US is so divided,, angry,, woke,, 1000 factions that hate the other 999. It has gone insane. 67 genders! Children choose their sex and have reassignment surgery as young as 5yo regardless of the parents protest, the armies of homeless who are taking over many cities. Russians would never put up with that. They also would not tolerate the government corruption,, extreme debt for medications 10,000% more expensive than anywhere else in the world. The crime is out of control. Every city has large sections that are no-go zones to wander into. The lack of access to safe parks, culture, museums, opera, ballet, symphonic halls, drama, art galleries. The last time I was in NYC with my Russian GF, she saw one of her favorite operas was being staged at the only theater in Entire USA that week was at the MET, a real step down in cast, sets, orchestra and acoustics cost $800 a ticket while The Mariinsky was $20 for better in every way. The basic cost of living is 20 times more than here. Needing a car for each adult in the family since the is no convenient safe public transportation ......
Just to give you an idea of salary - costs ratio: as junior data analyst you can can get something around 140k (all the salaries in Russia are mentioned AFTER tax). - You have free medical care (for example you can call ambulance whenever you feel unable to reach a hospital by yourself. For example, last winter I was walking in Saint-P. and an old lady fell on the ice and broke her nose. I called the ambulance, they sent a link by which I was looking at the map with my ambulance. They came in 15 minutes, took the lady and all of this is free. Event surgeries - my farther-in-law had got his joints substituted with metal elements. He waited for the operation for 3 months.). - Cost of electricity and heating around 6k in winter and 4k in summer, which is about 3-4% of your income. - Family of two - my wife and I spent around 18k on food (I didn't watch prices) - A good cup of coffe in numerious caffes around is from 120 rubles to 240 for a REALLY good one. Coffee culture in Russia is WAY more advanced that in Italy and France and Armenia or US (compare to the countries I've been). - Cars are expensive but I don't see any use of them since it's not a fast and comfortable way to commute in big cities. Taxi is cheap, public transport is clean (see Moscow metro) and cheap. - Mortgage rates for IT specialists or families is around 5-7%. Don't know what else to mention. If you buy macbook every year then you are affected by low ruble rate. But if you consume local goods (everything starting from clothes to food and travel in Russia is very good) than you actually don't care of dollar. See the huge difference between GDP per capita PPP(purchasing parity) and nominal GDP per capita and you'll understand that ruble is way more powerful inside of country. UPD: I didn't want to say that GPD statistics is nothing and Russia is wealthier than let's say Canada. Just dry statistics doesn't reflect entirely the way people live in a country. Especially it distorts the situation in a country where a lot of goods are produced inside and country is independent from world prices on resources and food.
Also, I've got (and may people in good companies) additional private insurance. I don't pay for my teeth for 15 years. I wanted to see a gastro specialist - the next day I come to visit him. My wife and I ren an appartment for 40k very close to the center of Saint-Petersburg. S So you see it's quite comfortable and cheap. I see prices in post-sovient countries and I find that even these countries have lower income, the prices are higher and many goods are from Russia.
@@Wild-Siberia America has WAY better healthcare, but it's nearly unaffordable. i was walking barefoot in a muddy pond on my dad's property and got sick with something (worms?) and they hooked me to an iv, prescribed me doxycycline, and it cost $9000.
Рада видеть вас в хорошем настроении. Поздравляю Дэна с новой стрижкой. Ксения украшает видео улыбками и красотой. Иркутск летний цветущий и чистый. Цены на импортные товары кусаются, но неприятность эту мы переживëм.
Im glad to hear that in comparison to Canada. These are the sorts of comments that help others know what's going on. Thanks for taking the time to do it!
Be quick then, it would be either the ruble return to something below 100, or the prices catch up, their trip would be closer to $100 in the normal day
Xenia looks absolutely gorgeous in this video! Couldn't take my eyes off her :) Decollete rules! 😂 And I'm not even a foreign man saying that. I'm actually a Russian woman, lol 😂😂😂
Hola Siberian Hermano! Great video Dan! Loved the time lapse! What people outside Russia do not realize is so much stuff is manufactured in Russia for Rubles most prices are low. Yes some imports get more expensive but here the are many alternatives. Huge agriculture and dairy around Irkutsk - it’s a beautiful life ❤

Dan and Ksenia thank you guys! Loving your videos. Semper Fi from Washington state brother. Im a Russian-American OIF/OEF vet with USMC who moved to the US about 20 plus years ago. Really appreciate your videos, i haven't been back to Russia since I left, really miss it!
Russia does currency manipulation to control the inflation through their exports of natural resouces. They are hugely rich in agriculture and energy so it doesn't matter for them and its beneficial for them. Other countries need their food and energy and they can increase value and earn more ruble and manage their inflation . They can continue their war because they are independent in gas and food. And putin has his PHD in russias mineral economy. His thesis is strategic planning in russias natural resources.
weakening ruble means the government will get more rubles from export to fulfill their budget. Nevertheless, it will cause additional inflation because Russia is still very dependent on import...
My friend, you are correct. Unlike the US currency, we based ours off the Fiat, and not back by the gold standard. Currently, we are backed by a whopping 32.4 trillions in debt, and an empty vessel... lol
geez... incredible day... just caught up tp the "Wild Siberia Day" for me . took me all day to watch at work all 3 videos😁, Great stuff Dan and Xsenia. 1 word to describe all of it or part. "Incredible " Dinner for 1 in Miami/Fort Lauderdale restaurants would be at least $75-$90 not including tip. You guys made my day more bearable
Yeah man, men’s barbershops in Russia are very thorough vs the rush jobs back in the US. They usually even offer you coffee or tea in the waiting area.
Hey hey guys, love your family❤ thanks for the video ! I've been living in Krasnodar for 22 years. I was born in Irkutsk and lived there until I was 22. Then I got married and moved to Krasnodar. Everything you described and visited brought warm memories to my heart ❤It was wonderful. Prices are normal not expensive, I love Sinabon and Asian cuisine. The Latin-American music makes my heart beat. Bravo❤
I found your channel yesterday, while i trying to see how Irkutsk looks like, saw another video where you were telling how you guys met, it really beautiful and moving. Btw I am Indian, married to Russian currently in Krasnodar for while. It's my dream to visit Baikal, hope to see you guys in case we make it to Irkutsk. keeping on creating great content, wish you both all the best.
I guess the way you pay for the bus differs depending on the region. In Krasnodar, South Russia you pay as soon as you step in. As for hair cut it differs even in one city - from 300 rubles to 2000 (I saw both).
One of your best videos, Daniel. Very informative. Ksenia was having like an existential crisis trying to choose which 🦝 toy to buy. Keep showing us Russia, hermano. Peace to you and Ksenia.
@@Wild-Siberia well, I bet you are giving her a sense of more decisiveness. I wish the both of you happiness in their relationship. And I’m a fan of the Guardians of the galaxy movies too so I do understand you, Ksenia. 😅
Russia does have the best purchasing power in all of Europe and it seems way better than the US. A bag of chips in the US costs 5 bucks and a bottle of shampoo 10 dollars😢

Here in Canberra australia my barber charges $32 USD, they rush it and I’m in and out in less than 10 minutes. No wash, no styling, just an awkward chat and a patchy haircut. I would go elsewhere but they are the only one in my suburb. I’m letting my hair grow out now until I go to Turkey at the start of October :)
Very happy to see the current exchange rate! I'm an American who loves Russia and will be coming to visit again for the 4th time soon. So happy for you guys! Subscribed
@@EricJennings91 Bring cash since your credit cards do not work here. If you are going to be here more than a couple weeks, open a bank account and you can receive a debit card in a few days.. The most common card now in Russia is that MIR card and if works with a number of other countries. Although it is safe here, a card is a lot more convenient for many tasks. All the BRICS countries will have a common card system eventually. The most used card in the world is the Chinese UnionPay.
PS... bring only pristine $100 bills because any mark, wear or other defect, even if it is barely visible, might be rejected...almost surely rejected. Some exchange offices will take them but you will lose 10-20% value to compensate for the teller's risk in accepting undesired bills. Go to your bank and explain that you need uncirculated $100 notes. You might need to give the bank a number of days notice.
This is one of your best videos, you both look fantastic and peaceful; your cities are very clean and beautiful! Thank you so much for making these lovely videos!
Thanks for the day out in Irkutsk guys what a lovely day. It maybe getting more expensive in Russia but in our money it’s so much more cheaper. You look so good together ❤
I love Latin music. Dan, are you good as salsa??? We go to salsa club here. They play samba, bachata, marenge, salsa, cha cha, rumba. Dancing is life! Timothy does not dance. He sips beers and watches me. 😂
Great video, like always homie 👌 but yeah! $50 for a full day of fun! That's great compared to in southern California, $50 is almost nothing to get through the day on your let alone for two. But to encounter a Latin Cuban festival in Siberia is definitely a pleasant surprise. Even though I'm Chicano
@@Wild-Siberia well compared to what we see on your videos, it looks like you should be, your in paradise homeboy. While everything here is overly priced along with rampant homelessness and Drug abuse. IDK who's sanctioning, who? It's heartbreaking 💔😢 to see our great state like this.

The infrastructure in your city is so updated!!!! The hiway is nice and you actually have public transportation!!! In rural Arkansas USA our roads are terrible. No public transportation. in my city, buses have a conductor - a person with a special device to which you attach a travel card/bank card/phone/any device with NFC. On some unpopular routes, the same payment is made to the driver at the entrance. But on the routes of private bus companies (marshrutka), payment is made in cash when leaving the bus.
In my city Perm we have no little buses calling marshrutka at all. We have buses, trams and city train. In buses we have no conductor, but we have special controllers who can come to bus any time and call you your ticket
What impressed me most was the cost for the hair cut and clean; are you sure you didn't make a mistake? it seems too low for the quality of service you received. greetings from Italy
Beauty services are really advanced and affordable in Russia. Even more so for women. Manicures, pedicures, hair and beauty salons. Many Russian women just literally cry abroad, both in the west and asia, after manicures at how bad it is lol after what they are used to, so in the end they just all find Russian specialists everywhere and go to them
12:50 Looked like a Red Thai Curry with Coconut Milk. Thai certainly is a save bet where ever you are on the planet. 13:24 pastry I've got to say it, because if I'm not mistaken you haven't mentioned the most famous Siberian dish, which is Boef Stroganov. It was first mentioned in the cookbook "Podarok molodym chosajkam" written by Jelena Molochowetz in 1871. It's delicious and you won't have any difficulty finding many different versions of the recipe online and in all sorts of cookbooks. It's a ragout or a stew, you can make it with all kinds of meats, traditionally it's made with beef filet, but you can make it with chicken.
@@Wild-Siberia It was a modification of a French dish. During the time of Peter the great and moving the capital to the northern wilderness in 1703, many of the designers, architects and craftsmen were recruited from Italy, German and England who brought along their favorite recipes which morphed into Russian dishes.. The first public restaurants in the new capital, St Petersburg, were started by foreign workers and designers because Russians traditionally dined at home. By the late 1700s a style of Russian cuisine had developed based roughly on European dishes modified for the tastes of Russians who were starting to dine out in cafes and pubs while the aristocrats had lavish dinner parties created by their palace staff. By early 1800s Russian culture originating in St Petersburg had become a dominate force in Europe with music, ballet, opera,, art, cuisine science, literature, poetry, political philosophy, etc over Europe. Where I live in the city center of stunning St Petersburg,, many if not most house have marble plaque identifying the famous person so lived there in the past.. The city was relatively small but had tremendous influence in the arts and sciences of the world. I live just down the street from a home Fyodor Dostoevsky for example who described the settings using the real buildings and street names in his novels as an example. I rented a room to use as an office in a mansion of the late 1700s t was quiet and the building was beautiful but had not been restored in many decades. going through a library in another room found printed, unbound pages of short stories. I asked the building agent about them, and he said, "oh, your room was the getaway location for Anton Chekhov to write in quiet away from his home and family in Moscow. The old desk my computer was on, he mentioned was the desk he wrote most of his works.. The mansion was owned by his publicist and reserved that simple space for Chekhov to write in peace. The 4 story mansion was recently restored.
Mississippi, pay when you get on the bus, it cost $1.25 one way and then pay to come back. You might guess very few people ride the bus. You can buy day and month passes which does reduce the price.
That’s so crazy to even comprehend for me because I’ve been here so long and naturally a bus fare should cost just less then .50 cents at all times. public transport should be sort of paid by the government. they want less cars on the road less traffic well incentive is cheap bus rides. just an opinion it going full communist 🤣
@@Wild-Siberia The cost to ride the bus is an issue and they run every hour. If you get off the bus for something you know it will be an hour before you can get back on. Very few people ride the buses except the buses which run to the casinos. The casinos have buses which run to hotels, airport and all the casinos. I started driving when I was 15 in 1971 I don't think I would ever choose to ride a bus except I had to.
They are not foreigners. There are more than 190 nationalities living in Russia, it has four official religions and about 150 official languages. Russia is the Melting pot that America always wanted to build and could not, and later replaced with a Bowl of Salad. The name has always amused me. 😆
for that kind of haircut here in dallas tx is like 50 or 60 dollar .you look fresh bro keep it up i have a long beard and i cant find a good barber arount to trimm long beard .
Don't know what incomes are in Russia, but I doubt there are any 30 cent bus rides in US. I pay $13.50 for a haircut in my small town (no wash). Your prepared food prices are definitely less. Thanks for sharing.
Those prices are so cheap, my sons haircuts are $25 Canadian dollars, that food would be way more expensive here and doesn’t look as good. Impressed how nice the barbers look and don’t wash is hair, he wets it with a bottle. Parks as usual stunning
I heard other Russians say that they pay 5 dollars a month for internet and 20 a month for cable and 125 for a nice apt in a low rise with every utility included. How is that expensive? If I went to Russia with the money in my savings now I would be a Ruble millionaire but Im still a bum here.

Did Xenia see Guardians of the Galaxy 3? It's all about Rocket -- Pirated copies of Disney Marvel should be available. Haircut here (Benton Harbor, MI) is $25 -- no shampoo included. My Poodle costs $80 for a haircut for comparison Thai food is the best -- sticky rice and fish soup looks delicious! LEGO is very expensive here, too. Those sets here are about $75. Viva el merengue y la cumbia -- Xenia -- mueva la cadera! Cuba is a beautiful country, though it is hard to visit now. Great video, guys!
All the normal, conservative people are looking to move to Russia or Balkan countries... I am Spanish and I want to go live in Russia as soon as possible. Good Video guys !
100 USD equals 10,000 ruble (100 USD times 100 for currency exchange rate). 5,000 ruble = 1 once of gold. 1 once of gold equals $1,900 USD plus or minus some change. Therefore, 10,000 Ruble equals 2 onces of gold, or roughly 3,800 USD. This means that the 100 dollar bill should be worth 3,800, or almost 38 times the amount. This formula works for all gold-backed currencies, forwards and back. This is why things are so cheap in Russia. It's because the ruble is worth more than the dollar. Also note, Russia is a post hyperinflation economy. This was the Soviet Union, which dissolved leaving 1/3 of it's people, land, and resources to become other nations. Then, about a decade later, a depression (in 1998-2001 I believe) that lead to 1/3 of it's banks collapsing. Then from 2002, to 2014 it earned the World Bank's prestigious "High Income Economy". At the time, only 23 nations had achieved that. America on the other hand, has not had similar challenges, and has only earned that achievement through fiat inflation. It's quite interesting really.
