RUSSIA has released chilling new footage of its 7,000mph Zircon hypersonic nuke missile that could hit London in five minutes.
The Kremlin had previously branded the deadly weapon, which carries a conventional or nuclear warhead, “unstoppable”.
And now terrifying footage shows a Mach 9 Zircon - or Tsirkon - missile being fired, showing how the Russian President could launch a hypersonic nuclear strike on the West.
The clip showing the missile being fired from the Admiral Gorshkov frigate in the White Sea was revealed amid veiled threats Putin and his top officials to go nuclear if any country intervenes with his invasion of Ukraine.

this is not a “nuke”, it’s a cruise missile, possibly the fastest of it’s type which can do severe damage to an area but it’s absolutely nothing a nuke like the Topol can bring, Russia would only use these for tactical strikes on targeted areas.

The target ship was obviously not struck by a missile traveling at Mach 9. It’s also likely it was struck by a different weapon system. Even with an inert warhead, the sheer inertia of a hit from a missile traveling at 7,000mph should have obliterated the bow beyond all recognition, not to mention the lack of plasma visible. This footage was obviously filmed and released via Russian state controlled media. This fact alone should make the rest of the world suspicious.

It's big enough for the tactical nuke warhead. Comes in both versions, as every other Russian cruise missiles. Nuclear is for aircraft carrier groups if need be, conventional for everything else.

It can reach a target at 1000 km far at a speed of Match 9 and can be mount with a nuclear head. The distance from Kaliningrad to London is 1,417.36 km but often Russian ships are closer than that to GB and France for instance when they are crossing the British Chanel.

Hypersonic is classified as a speed anywhere between mach 5-10. Mach 10 to mach 25 is generally classified as high hypersonic.

A hypersonic cruise missile, I assume being test fired in the black sea, I'm not sure a cruise missile type would have the necessary range to reach the UK, I may be wrong if anyone knows more about them. Just checked this out, a range of 620miles, so they would have to get pretty close to the UK undetected. In the old days journalists were taught to assume nothing and always check the facts.

A good point of comparison here is the SR-71. Flying mach 3.5 at +80,000 ft, air friction would heat the fuselage up to 800-900°F. The air pressure at 80,000 feet is 36 times lower than at sea level; 0.406 psi vs 14.7 psi. Flying at mach 5-7 beneath radar detection (200-300 ft) would be the equivalent of a submarine going 500 mph in an ocean of molasses.
