I really miss seeing Russia compete in international competions. They really have one of the best talents in many sports like Ice Hockey, Gymnastics and Volleyball so it really is a shame to no be able to see Russia compete because of this stupid war.

I see a lot of people opting to boycot Russia for the FIBA WC qualifiers. I will remind you: FIBA is not a political organisation nor is it siding with EU. Sport, politics and religion should not be mixed.

Unfortunately, it's been done. FIBA and FIFA have banned Russia. In fact, just about every sports save for some like Boxing and MMA have banned Russia.

Belachelijk dat ze dit door hebben laten gaan en dan ook nog verliezen. Boycot dan in ieder geval het volgende duel. Er wordt toch verloren en die Russische basketballers zitten vol met allerlei preparaten dus eerlijk is het toch al niet.

Boycotten? FIBA heeft niks met politiek te maken. Ze krijgen geen opdrachten van de EU of wie dan ook. FIBA is ook niet eurocentrisch, het is een wereldwijde organisatie.

@@jazzeuphoria Dat sport alles met politiek te maken heeft speciaal in Rusland blijkt uit het feit dat Rusland als staat niets doet/deed om het wijdverspreide doping gebruik te beteugelen of het zelfs ondersteunt/aanmoedigt. In Rusland zijn staat en sport met elkaar verbonden en dus was deze wedstrijd daarmee verbonden. "Eurocentrisch"? Ik snap niet hoe je dat in dit verband denkt te kunnen gebruiken.
