The problem is Iran had to sell it for very cheap price because it has more supplies than ever. Low demand, over supplies means cheaper price.
Russia supplies gas to China, Central Asia (pipelines) and EU as LNG. Russia is diversifying the customers portfolio to not rely fully on one customer (EU).
