there are plants that heal the ground from chemical situations smog and fallout. Planting diversly is the best thing to do different plants doing different things even if we don't know all their traits and relationships. Trust in creation. Compost, I'm sure you understand about that a lot. This is what is healing the soil already. We had pretty mixed fallout in rain over the years where I live, forest fire smog, burning oil refinery smog from the other side of the planet, burning vinyl chloride in huge amounts during a flood in BC that caused a trailer factory to catch fire and westerlies brought it right over Canada to the East Coast and beyond and the train derailment in Ohio. Self heal is a wild mint and any year the smog is high, and we can smell and see it this plant is spreading like crazy and showing up for first times in places. It also grows on years of better weather but for some reason shows up more when there is crap in the soil that needs cleansing. Cannabis helps with radiation tests done in Japan and Sunflowers help with heavy metals and potato bugs eat heavy metals and decaying plant matter and wood and wet rocks and a lot of animals eat those potato bugs as a food source :) There are probably many more things out there I haven't learned yet. Just having a huge focus on creating good compost soil on a regular basis might be good. Rain washes things down, so what little radioactive particles don't break down immediately will drain into the ground. I think that the events will cause lots of rain to happen so not much will be growing anyways but once it settles out most of the radiation should be gone. There is definitely immediate dangers to radiation from nuke plants and weapons but its not forever. Lots of the trees in Chernobyl exclusion zone are a few varieties wilding basically a monocrop people who live in permaculture grow these trees WITH many other kinds of trees so the soil and air and ground water and soil microbiome etc. is healthier and animals have more sources of food etc. We have to trust it. Nuke weapons are not so much my concern, its the nuclear plants. The system is being self-sabotaged from the top, that can't be good. If mass panic sets in from an event a CME war or EMP that cuts power people might flee these places to get back to families alive realizing how bad things are and their futile chance of survival if they stay. So, the worst thing we have going is the weather and growing season if its in the summer black outs melting down nuclear plants is probably going to be part of whatever else happens. If there are massive quakes from east coast to west coast here in north America and Yellowstone erupts up here in Canada, we would probably lose power. I never thought of this before that much but the best thing to prepare for chemically or just from a situation you have to ride out or not be there in the first place ahead of time is to prep for melting down nuke plants. I don't think there are too many peaceful ways for these facilities to "become abandoned"
