A shipment of Abrams tanks has arrived in Ukraine - eight months after the Pentagon ordered them and sooner than officials expected. The Defense Department in January delivered nearly three dozen M1 Abrams tanks to help Ukraine fight off invading Russian forces. “This is the first phase of Abrams that has arrived,” Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said Monday. “But in terms of numbers or movement on the battlefield, that's something I'll let the Ukrainian side talk about.”
Pentagon officials did not specify how many tanks were delivered but promised in January that Ukraine would receive 31 Abrams tanks. “Abrams is already in Ukraine and is preparing to reinforce our brigade,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a post on the Telegram messaging app. “I thank the allies for fulfilling the agreement.”
