Russia really does not warm much to the idea of people just doing what they feel like in their own country. Funny since Russia appears to really LOVE doing as they please in other peoples countries. How are things going with all them laptops, washing machines, fridges and stuff, Russia, are you riding that technology boost, like it was lightning in a bottle?

There is no blockade, it is a special logistical operation.

Putin doesn’t have a leg to stand on even if Kaliningrad were to be annexed . It would seem fully justified in light of his egregious behaviour.

If Putin wants to restore the old borders, he must skip Kaliningrad. Because this city was called Königsberg and was almost 800 years German. So it never belonged to the Tsarist Empire.

This was EU decision and it is not total blockage only sanctioned goods.

Oh the hypocrisy. Russia is crying because Lithuania is blockading kaliningrad while Russia is blockading Ukraine.

I don’t see how this counts as a blockade. A blockade is if I prevent you from getting access to a port/city/etc. This is more of a ‘Keep off my land!’

It is NOT a blockade but the enforcement of EU sanctions against certain goods and materials, not ALL products.

Putrid sounds like the kid, who has just been pushed into the dirt, saying that his big brother is going to sort things out: except that there is no big brother. The Russian army has it's hands full with one small area of Ukraine. It can't manage an attack on Lithuania as well. Also, if it did then NATO joins the party, and would probably then get directly involved in Ukraine.

It will be good for the world when Kaliningrad, Karelia and Murmansk declare independence from Russia and become new countries. Poland surely would be ok with a small democratic country at their corner. I am anticipating the oblasts and republics of the two southern districts of Russia to secede from Russia and form several independent countries. Hopefully that will end Putin and all of his puppets.

There is something called the 'Kaliningrad Question' where polls show that most people there want to leave Russia and join Lithuania or Poland or return to German rule, I cant see Russia allowing that to happen though, a hotspot for the future?

I know this is hardly the thing to get caught up on, but I've been hearing it a lot...Kaliningrad is a Russian *exclave*, not *enclave*.

Baltic fleet is a sitting duck. Would be wiped out very quickly if anything escalated and any Russian soldiers there would be eliminated.

Kaliningrad wasn't Danzig to the Nazis, it was Königsberg.

Interestingly, according to Kaliningrad, Russia was never actually given Kaliningrad by either treaty or argeement. It eas invaded and seized NY Stalin and the Red Army after WWII. (Sound familiar?)

This is an earth shattering move on Lithuania's part, and I haven't seen anything about this on any of the American news stations. This move, more than anything else, could lead to a shooting war between NATO and the Ivan's. This is Berlin in 1962, but in the opposite direction.
