Heranca Russa. If you haven’t seen it, you must. Produced by Brazilian guitarist Yamandu Costa. If you haven’t heard him, you must. Good to see you again.I lost touch after our little RU-vid village was overrun by gmail wielding monetizers. We exchanged pleasantries just before the village was ransacked. We were in agreement over our shared propensity to play “Pig meat is all I crave” ,followed by “Queen Elizabeth’s Galliard”.( or something similar) “A good tune, is still a good tune”. Russian guitars influenced Brazilian 7 string guitars (although, not the tuning).You have to check out this video. I think I am probably “preaching to the choir”, but on the off chance that you may have not seen this documentary, I thought I would bring it to your attention.😎

The excellent performance of the Morkov. Русская песня "Наяву и в сладком сне" (Russian Song"Waking and sleeping sweetly"). I bought a week ago D'off RGS, it is slightly more expensive than the RGV but louder, thanks to the larger body. The Russian guitar originated from the zither, not the Spanish guitar. The great misconception of modern Russian guitarists, including Timofeev, that the strings were gut, not steel. Most Russian guitarists play nylon strings on guitars of Spanish construction, that is, Spanish guitars with a seventh string. Such in Russia 99%, especially professionals. This is fundamentally wrong. It turns out Tarrega with Albeniz. The last Russian guitarist who played on metal in Russia was Yuriev and Sazonov and Sorokin.Look at you-tube. Rob Maccilloy an authority on early music and it uses steel strings! A lot of guitar scores music here, I have too scanned a lot of there old music. Probably useless bit of info, the 19th century Portuguese guitar was also tuned in an open chord, C E G C E G. There are even methods with that, but if fell out of use. In the beggining of the 20'th century, the instrument was adopted by the Fado style, which was originally mandolin music, so they came up with the tuning D A B E A B, an expanded fifths tuning (DAEB), so they could keep the mandolin repertoire. That's the current use. All this to say, I never knew how the old tuning could work, and just assumed it was theoretical nonsense, but this russian guitar music does prove it works, so thanks for the knowledge!
@RobMacKillop1
@RobMacKillop1 5 лет назад
And the first book of music ever published in CEGceg tuning was in Edinburgh, where I live. I know all about this. Check out my site scottishguittar.com/ for more info. But the connection with Russia comes from Prague, when a Czech musician moved to Russia using this tuning. If you are really curious about this, read the doctoral thesis by Oleg Timofeyev here: dissexpress.proquest.com/dxweb/results.html?QryTxt=&By=Oleg+Timofeyev&Title=&pubnum=
